You'll never believe this ... I am in AU, subscribed last month - a ?week or so after first watching this, I was browsing for AU christmas vintage on eBay, and on one auction, one of the photos JUMPED into my attention... I had to zoom in closer, and was FLOORED at what I saw mixed up amoung the other baubles. I immediately bought the 'lot' at it's BIN price. The box arrived today. I now have THREE of these Tinsel Ornaments! Gold, Pink aaaand .. BLUE! ... omg I have NO idea how they ended up in Victoria AU but I am SO thrilled to be their new custodian. I came back to rewatch and note down the history, so I can leave a note with my 3. (In my Will, my collection will go to the Sydney Powerhouse Museum)
What a great story! I am so glad you found some tinsel beauties and that eventually they will end up in a museum. Custodian is a great moniker, maybe even better than ornament rescuer. If you are brave enough to put them on tree..... email me a picture at booksbyjody2021@gmail.com so that I can share it with our community.
Joe, Supply and demand are everything. Someone buying for their own collection has a different price point than another person looking to resell. For me, I consider $7-$10 for a mint-condition tinsel ornament to be a signal to snatch them up. A year or two from now who knows, but my ornaments will still be on the tree making me happy.
I was there that fateful night. It’s cool to see you unwrap them 80 some years later. I wonder if the merchant sold them individually and when the season was over just placed the two others in the open slots in the box
Fantastic! Another great video. I have been drooling over a 19 ornament lot of tinsel teardrops on eBay today…this puts me over the top. (Check them out..one of us must steal them) As I watch your video…I’m sitting at the cottage with both your books next to me. I love war ornaments…. Keep up the steam you are amazing!
I need to borrow you to tell my family I'm amazing I think they say average! Why is it when I've depleted my ornament budget I see something fantastic? Thanks for being such a loyal watcher and reader.

amazing find!
Now I know Christmas is coming - your ornament videos appear!
Kitty, I am like a kid on Christmas Eve anticipating what I have planned for the season!
Jody, I think what you are doing is needed. The books are so helpful. Gay
I had red, dark blue and some red striped ones.
How much are you getting these for? Wondering what values to expect on the shiny bright.
