  • Shrinking window tint can be difficult early on but very important to ensure it lays perfectly flat on the glass. I use a heat shrinking method called snap shrinking. its very quick and simple to add but takes practice so dont get frustrated if you dont get it right away!

Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

I use this method, and then lift the bottom edge up and let it drop on the glass. Tack the corners and do a final pass, shrinking it flat. I never get fingers anymore.

Just subbed man, these videos are really well made and I’m wanting to learn to tint my car windows. I do all the work on my vehicles, but there are many things I have not done DIY for reasons like it not needing to be done or I don’t want to risk the things that could go wrong and then have to tow it to a shop to get it done. But your videos make me feel like I could maybe learn to tint my windows next. Probably order a bunch of film and take a few goes at it before understanding. I can learn things really fast tho and almost like perfectly imitate certain things after being showed, so the go pro angle is like watching someone do it irl and hopefully I can learn this fast! Lol

After using the outside window to size the tint and the heat gun to shrink it, you then cut the tint with a razor and apply to inside of window, no? My intuition is that the tint then somehow "unshrinks" or reverts to its original, non-shrunk shape during this time, which would negate the whole process of you having shrunk it, no? Sorry for the confusion.
