I love your approach with your wife about new bikes, I do the very same. I'm currently riding an S1000XR, going to add a Tuono, it's a bit more comfortable at 65 than my son's RR. Tuono is a proper day bike for us "Jerryatrik Hooligans".
I rode the RSV4 and Tuono back to back last year. The RSV4 was flat. I absolutely love the motor symphony but wasn’t impressed by the torque as the inter-webs would hype the V4 to be. I felt my 1190 pulled harder from 4 to 7000 than the Tuano but I’m sure it pulls much harder on the top end. The fit and finish of the controls didn’t wow me either. And lastly when trying to manually shift with the clutch it felt like the engine still tried to auto blip even more so than the amount of throttle I usually reduce making it a cumbersome clunky experience manually. I know you love the aesthetic’s of the Tuino but at least check off the box a super Duke GT for a test ride.
I won't be ready for a Super Duke GT until I have resolved to rid myself of my GS Adventure. As to the lack of torque, this engine doesn't lug like a V-twin. It's still a 4 cyl. It has crazy torque in the mid-range. As to the shifting manually. You just need to get used to a different bike. I have been purposely manual shifting down and up to see what you were talking about. I don't see any shortcomings with this tranny... manual or with the quick shifter. The throttle is very sensitive. I would bet you were giving it too much on the downshifts, I was at first.
COMMANDER REVZ I think The experience I’m referring to was on the RSV4 and was during up shipping. It backed the power off just slightly more than I usually do when I shift so I felt like I wasn’t properly rev matching when I shifted manually. Anyways sick bike and congrats. As always Cisco and Ebert gives it 👍👍
Yes, I mentioned that in this video. It does back the power off more than both my BMWs that have quick-shifters. I'm really don't notice it anymore. Thanks

You'll love the Tuono. Sorry so late with response.

You need to ride 100 miles to get the tuono and how it works, they are amazing machines.
You are correct. I have 300 miles on it now and this bike is continuing to amaze me.
Have you considered the s1kr?
I most definitely did consider the single R. I almost bought one.
