I was told by an airhead friend here in Germany that I shouldn't break torque on the head bolts. Only validate that they haven't backed off. This is of course after you do your initial time break torque and check then just verify at proper intervals.

I think you are OK either way. It was recommended to me by an airhead expert to back them off and re-torque.
