SW-Motech Pro Tank & Tail Bag Review

- I always found SW-Motech luggage to be well designed and made, so when it came to looking for some daypacks for the Africa Twin, I thought I'd take a look at the new SW-Motech Pro tank & tail bags. In this review, I'll give an overview and brief fitting details for the Day tank bag and Roadpack tail bag. They're quick and easy to fit and offer really flexible storage at a good price.

Great video! I have the Pro City bag on my Tiger 1200 XCX and it is flawless! I also bought the rear mounting plate that replaces the Triumph rack. I have the RackPack from SW-Motech which mounts to this in about 1.5 minutes. Sw-Motech is the best made gear in my opinion! Nice job Sir!!
Bye the way, that piece of plastic on the back is another port for feeding a strap through. FYI.

Thanks V, thats a shame. I do hear very good things about the Mosko Moto Kit. I've got some Kriega OS Panniers and US Dry packs for when I really need to load up
@@mancavemoto Love the Kriega look and simplicity in them, if they have something big what doesn’t require “scaffolding” I would go rather with them, but Mosko Reckless is better, cheaper and smarter solution for me….. only the problem is they are always sold out for months, actually their products is on shelves for only weeks for the entire year…. I fitted the pro bag system to my Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro in 2020 and had a small issue with the ring being in contact with the tank itself. I used washers that I machined down to size. SW Motech HQ in Germany said all should have worked and we’re not so willing to accept the fact it didn’t. However since then used it every trip and it is very practical and I would be lost without it. Maybe the new Tiger was too new and therefore these things can happen. Otherwise always good gear from this manufacturer.

You should have included the security pin and padlock for the tank bag, which means you can safely leave it on the bike unattended.

Great review. I have a 790 adv also. I know the evo tank ring has to go on the wrong way around. Can you tell me how this fits on the 790? Is it back to front and is the daypack too big? Maybe the micro

I like the tank bag very much. Was there any initial drilling, Tony? I always avoided the old ones because of the drilling.
Thankfully no drilling at all, you just bolt the mount onto four posts on the bottom.
@@mancavemoto You probably made it clear. I was waking up slowly as I viewed the video. A big improvement on the old bags.
That little notch on that plastic piece on the bag is to clip the phone or tablet holder on.

Yep they make a base designed to strap on to a rear seat

As far as I can tell, the Evo and Pro tank rings are not cross compatible

Great video! Can someone please advise a have a 2020 CRF1100 Adventure sports which I will fit rox bar back risers - Which tank bag should I get to fit as my SW motech City touches with the current risers (Camel 25mm) which keep the same position fore and aft...

You mentioned about KTM and rear bag .
I got a 1090 . It doesn’t fit as well ?
No it should fit fine, its just not as easy to fit by slipping the 'pocket' on if your rack is wide at the back

Are velcro straps enough to keep in place Pro Roadpack bag or is it mandatory to use other 4 straps?
As in the velcro straps on the base? yes they are plenty strong enough to hold it in place

I don't get it why they didn't go with Tanklock for Roadpack as well, there is an adapter for 25$. So stupid to have all those straps.
It’s designed as a ‘universal fit’ bag, hence the straps. I’ve moved it a lot from bike to bike and it’s easy to do. More often than not you only need two to secure it if you can utilise the pocket on the base.
Too bad that code doesn't work on the US sight.

I wouldn't bother placing an order with SW-Motech UK. I placed a large order, and after four days they sent me an email saying they don't have the items in stock - not one - even though they took my money. I have had to cancel as the lead time is three months - seems like everything is manufactured in the far east and shipped over! I will also have to wait for my refund. It's caused me a lot of problems, it was a bad experience all round, and SW-Motech UK customer service is terrible.
That's why you ring ahead before placing the order.
@@Inked_CR Really, who does that? The items were advertised as being in stock on their website, they accept the order, the payment went through, and then they sent a conformation. I've placed literally hundreds of online orders, and I've never had to ring the company up to find out if everything was okay. That's what the confirmation email is for, so it just doesn't make sense to ring them up!
@soulrebelno1 Everyone does that. The website may not have been updated for stock. Shit happens. There is no need to badmouth the company. Next time, don't be so lazy and actually ring the company up first.
