- WATCH: Daily Wire's own Michael Knowles speaks to the students at Ithaca College about the role of religion in the United States.
He will attest that our natural rights are not given to us by our government, but instead come from a higher power.
He will analyze Judeo-Christian values, and he will detail their influence over our government, our culture and our liberty.
I bet that when Ben Shapiro started going on tours, the rooms were this empty as well. Soon, he'll get a lot larger reception.
I hope so
I could listen to him all day:)
Given the reception Shapiro has received from the left, Knowles is better off with a room that is willing to actually listen.
quantumfootball To be fair, Knowles is best known for a blank book. Appropriate.
Yeah, he also needs to find his audience. Ben is a different speaker, he is fast and charismatic and has improved over the years. Knowles is an intelligent guy, he'll figure out how to expand his talks !
The only reason this guy doesn't have a huge following is because he's relatively modest and unassuming.
Hah wow to both of you, you really DO miss the humility.
Definitely deserves a bigger crowd. What a guy
I know this is 4 years later and Michael wasn’t as big, but Ithaca is a very small collage in a rural-ish area so I wouldn’t really expect many more than this.
I like micheal alot but i feel bad that the room is not full. Although i guess he got lucky that there is no antifa protesting there
Pledge There was actually around 60 people there, the camera just didn't show everyone. Event was advertised pretty well, people just shit talked a lot online about him instead of actually going to the event and protesting.
Honestly, it'd be better for his career if Antifa did protest.
you negated your sentences with but ;P
Unfortunately, free publicity !
Pledge: He got his talk on tape and posted.
"We were promised flying cars, and we're eating laundry detergent." XD Such a good laugh.
knowles talks a lot of sense. his following will grow!
I think Michael Knowles is fabulous
Room had about 40-50 people that were not seen on camera. I do wish he could've gotten more people but republicans are low in numbers at Ithaca College
but ;P
I went to Ithaca. Ithaca in general is a very very liberal city. I don’t remember much about my 2 yrs at Ithaca, but what I do remember vividly, is something that one of my professors said, “Bible bangers are the worst thing about this country and we’d be better off without them”. She said this during class.
Seriously, this might be every non-liberal within the city limits
Angelis Torres
Godless bitch.
That pilgrim story was pretty incredible
This is amazing and I think this is what America is about. I can tell many people disagree with the speaker but the ones that still listen are here and are able to question what their peers abide by. I love it. I hope we can continue to have this society but I fear it will be unlikely as so many are afraid to hear words that make them feel anything other than amazing.
An excellent, thought-provoking talk which left me wanting more - that's always a good sign. The students are a credit to their institution too.
Thank you Michael. I appreciate the boldness you display by sharing your convictions and openly promoting civil dialogue. Kudos
THAT WAS SO AWESOME, Michael!!! Especially since you are so new to this, the turnout seems pretty awesome AND a lot of people engaged in conversation through questions!!!
I am so GLAD this was broadcasted live! I wish we could see the other speech you gave earlier this week.
Keep up this great work! The content is so informative and educational.
Covfefe!!!
Q&A starts @33:00
Thank GOD for people like Michael Knowles. Keep up the good fight Michael.
Michael knowles is close to Ben Shapiro’s level, plus he’s like 8 years younger. His speeches will blow up soon, he’s talked with crazy famous people before, he’s only on his way up
Really bummed I missed this. I live near IC but had no idea he was gonna be there
Daniel Kane Hi Daniel, I am the President of the College Republicans at Ithaca College. We have one more speaking event this semester. Send me a PM and I'll give you the details. Sorry you missed out on Knowles.
Keep up the good work Caleb, Ithaca and the surrounding areas desperately need to hear conservative voices
Daniel Kane What is the best way to reach you? We have more speaking events and I'd hate for you to miss out. It's a lot of work bringing conservative values to Ithaca. :)
Jelly Donut Thank you for your kind words
MAKE DINNERTABLES GREAT AGAIN
Knowles would make a great history professors. I could listen to his man speak on history for hours.
Would love to see more of these speeches from Michael. He is really knowledgeable about religion.
I wish the opening guy had a little more hype... don’t be that boring conservative
He seemed nervous.
My opinion to why church and state was separated was because of murderous identity politics practiced by some religious sects. It was about Quakers getting hanged. It was not about prohibiting basic Christian moral values and meaning.
love listening to his buttery smooth voice
One problem is that the “Church “ has abandoned it’s calling. It is called to be a hospital for sinners not a courtroom for sinners.
Come to Montreal please!!!
I hope he signs the books in white marker... that would be the best. Otherwise it simply reads "reasons to vote democrat" followed by "michael knowles"... and lets be honest... that might be an argument.
Couldnt resist, keep up the good work.
Big things have small beginnings
On your statement about the problem with pain, I would recommend a book by the same name “The Problem With Pain” by C. S. Lewis. He does an excellent job on that topic.
Love, love, love Knowles! Love, love, love the speech content.
Really good job, Michael! Kudos!
Michael might have missed his calling as a teacher. He is a great speaker who doesn't wield his viewpoint as a weapon.
The girls staring up at him haha, they love him
Great talk!
Other than the organizers there were also 3 students in the hall.
Great speech Michael, I hope to see more from you in the future :)
Congrats knowles huge fan of the show. Your on the rise brotha
Well said.
26:00 "I don't know who this guy is, but I hate him". Lol. A classic first impression for Knowles. Seriously though, this was an amazing speech and that flowed amazingly and had me totally facinated. I hope to see more of Knowles' speeches in the future and I know a growing audience will too.
Love this point of view!!!!
This was Fantastic!
Thank you Michael for spreading the Catholic truth!
I'm surprised there aren't more people in the audience. Was this publicized?
That and also Knowles is newer than the battle hardened titans like Ben Shapiro and and Steven Crowder
Yes, the crowd was small at this talk, but nowadays (18 months later) when he speaks at universities he has much bigger audiences. Yes, people are beginning to notice this articulate, intelligent young conservative spokesperson. Great job!
Knowles is so utterly clever and funny, an excellent speaker for the topic of conservatives having fun, and as a Catholic he has unique insights into values and culture. I can’t wait to see him fill halls all over the country
And oh my! Mic girl is a QT
Ithaca is the most left college in the game. ironic he's speaking there, crowd would be way bigger at any other school
Knowles please come to UofMontana!
"Can I touch your reason?"
Whoa, dude, getting a little #MeToo in here.
Everyone find them an old-fashioned fundamental independent Baptist church
Lol when he said “New York Times bestseller”
Those students look so much like students - Michael Knowles is only like 5-10 years older than them but is totally different.
Knowles for President
Gah, wish I wasn’t working tonight. Would have loved to attended this!
Dylan, if you are from the Ithaca area, we have one more speaker event. On Thursday April 12th we have Jesse Watters from Fox News speaking on campus. Sorry you missed Michael Knowles.
Caleb Slater Is there a URL I could have a link to with your scheduled speakers? Cheers.
Dylan Lundgren Follow this link to the event page for our next speaker. Be sure to like us on Facebook, because we plan on bringing in more speakers next year too! m.facebook.com/events/2080179325572926/?acontext=%7B"ref"%3A"29"%2C"ref_notif_type"%3A"plan_user_associated"%2C"action_history"%3A"null"%7D&ref=m_notif¬if_t=plan_user_associated¬if_id=1522529158142686
he speaks/writes really well. I think in a match up of morals, I'd pick Knowles in a hurry over shapiro.
"They don't want to laugh, they just want to call things racist." I got a good laugh and it's totally true.
People don’t realize that a large portion of the conservative right like me, are not religious, and agree with the separation of church and state. Though I agree with many of these values, history shows us that church and state do not mix well.
Can someone name me a few values which are specifically judeochristian?
If you close your eyes, Knowles sounds like Mr. Rodgers.
knowles knows..but damn, the brunette at the end asking questions what a crush
That NY Giants hoodie dude is a UNIT.
That nervous guy, is he Andrew Garfield younger brother?
Well, the Bible has a lot to say about avoiding unprofitable, unhealthy controversy, arguments etc., and I get it that the rule of thumb to avoid talking about politics and religion at dinner parties, was probably born out of good and even godly reason, and there's occasions to take that under advisement. To keep things peaceful, to err on the side of that, for the sake of Grandma, or your host, etc. . Best of course is to have a close walk with God, be very "prayed up " and usually to have some maturity and experience under your belt, to make the best decision you can on the fly. To be led by God on when to speak up, topics to introduce, and when to "answer a fool" and when to "answer not a fool" ( seemingly contradictory verses in the book of proverbs in the Bible).
That mic nazi is super cute.
I don’t know, I thought the Founding Father’s values were made quite self-evident when the very first line of the first amendment in the Bill of Rights reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”
If that’s the first thing they chose to mention, maybe, just maybe, it’s possible that they actually believed the exact opposite, that this government for once would NOT be founded on religious beliefs and would never have any.
While individuals are free to believe whatever they choose, the government would forever be secular.
This means that the government could not be founded on religious beliefs but for secular reasons, and it was.
Christians like to use this “Judeo-Christian” myth to give credence to their cultish beliefs, but the reasons for establishing a classical liberal society where protecting individual liberties is sacrosanct were entirely secular. The model for our government is not done ancient Jewish civilization but instead the Roman Republic. Our founding fathers were inspired by famous Enlightenment figures such as John Locke and political groups such as the Whigs in British Parliament at the time, not by the Pope or by a priest.
You are misinformed. Another Founding document is clear. Check the Declaration of Independence. Our rights are God given. Furthermore the Separation of Church and State was to have no State religion but not to deprive religious people their rights. Do you understand that the idea of value of a human being is Christian based?
You should have came to UAlbany!
Ithaca College? Like, Ithaca New York?
Who said that you’re not supposed to talk about our christian values?
Hallowed Be Thy Name, Secular Liberals did.
The Patriot Lord have mercy on their souls!
Amen to that!
Absolutely
Hallowed Be Thy Name if you do, Justin “peoplekind” Trudeau will reprimand you!
The girl holding the mic is quite pretty ❤️
Mike, I hope you see this message. I think your speeches would be better served and you would be able add more reason to your faith if you Check out some of the William Lane Craig debates/videos. Might strengthen your Catholic apologetics a bit more.
Isn't Brigette Gabriel an atheist?
Timothy Abraham I thought so too.
Why don't they edit out the introduction in these videos? very boring
The greatest exposition of post modern materialism and the devil is in C.S. Lewis's Sci-Fi "That Hideous Strength." Check it out!
There is an excellent new documentary that is free this week. It’s called “Christ Revealed”. I recommend this to anyone who wants to know the proof of Jesus and Christianity. You can find links on UA-cam and Facebook
Hey Mike just so you know the Byzantine Empire is Greek empire what they don't teach in school the Byzantines werre Greek until romans took over in Constantinople Greek empire
But yes alll correct everything u say
Gobbledygook
Never heard a Michael Knowles speech. . . This should be mediocre. LOL, Totally kidding!!! Austin Lively is the MAN!
Love micheal knowles new york times bestselling author literally sold a book with blank pages trolling democrats the force is strong with this one lmao 😂
I noticed a guy in pink t shirt with dark facial hair looking wide eyed with a hint of coyness and admiration at Michael throughout his speech (e.g. 6:15). Michael's secret fan/potential stalker?
Mic girl is cute.
Lol, bestselling author
DON'T TREAD ON ME
I would like to brush Mr. Knowel's snide comment aside insinuating that spiritual conviction without the belief in the existence of a particular god is mere self promotion... I just cant believe this without proof. Haven't seen anything that would convince me yet... been looking all my life really... almost 60 years. I don't want to seem special... I have taken a lot of flak for holding this position... very unpleasant. I would really rather not be the focus of controversy. Shouting, vitriolic, insult slinging, violent people who are unwilling to listen and hold civil discourse terrify me. I am just unable to believe these stories as historical fact. I can see them as poetic metaphor, and I love J. Peterson for articulating the meaning behind the archetypes so well... love him anyway. After sorting through many many viewpoints, I came to the conclusion that whether or not god exists is less relevant than establishing dialogue, staying healthy, sorting our garbage, avoiding war and continuing with the human project. I was raised in a situation where I was surrounded by various religions, and although I can appreciate the values or instructive metaphorical descriptions that are helpful signposts when navigating morality, it is impossible for me to accept the existence of an extra-material presence that governs all and created all. Facts don't care about your feelings indeed. I rest my case. I have paid attention to the arguments for and against and remain unconvinced. I travel to various countries and do see many similarities and obvious differences in belief systems, but a strong tendency to blindly accept unfounded and often untrue pronouncements from religious leadership. The institutions have been caught out in so many corruption scandals that I would tend to caution believing people away from them... wait wasn't Christ supposedly against the church? Appreciate and see the need for ritual and an evolving moral structure, cant ascribe to dogma... cant go into that box guys. Will you still have me?
Why you lying, Knowles? Jefferson said "separation between church and state."
The phrase "separation between church & state" is generally traced to a January 1, 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, addressed to the Danbury Baptist Association in Connecticut, and published in a Massachusetts newspaper. Jefferson wrote,
“"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."[1]
I mean, I like you, but the wall was for both ways. The state can't take interests in a church either.
Good job, Ben Shapiro 2024!
I wish Michale was a bit more edgy, because he is a great speaker, he just seems a bit uncaring honestly, could show a bit more emotions
You mean founding Christian values. There was nothing "Judeo" about it.
First.
I love Michael, but I would have liked to hear his justification for how the Crusades was part of a "defensive" war.
Jedediah Russell he did. "Islam was trying to take over the West"
@Jedediah Russell You can read part 5 of www.amazon.com/God-but-One-Investigates-Christianity/dp/0310522552/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522977928&sr=8-1&keywords=no+good+buy+one Paul Copan is also good, though he doesn't have a whole book on the topic either, that I can find.
Look at the religious map pre islam. The roman empire asked the westerners for help after their defeat at manzikert.
Who initiated the wars at Tours, or Lapento, or Byzantium, or Jerusalem, or...? And why were the targets of those wars all Jews and Christians? That’s the answer. Further, after Islam destroyed almost the entire of maritime trade of the Mediterranean via Piracy and conquered the paths of the Silk Road, what else could Columbus do except sail the long way around the world to continue trading with China? Why did America establish the largest Navy in the world except to protect American citizens from Mohammadan pirates “to the coast of Tripoli” (front their own theme song)? Mohammadanism has never been anything except a violent force for evil
So Peterson is “boring”, huh?
Lol jk
"God is a fact" -- wrong. God is a Truth.
Facts are Objective, Truths do not "exist" because they don't have location.
"God" is a lie
Culture isn't."downstream " from religion. Religion is a part of culrure. In fact its one of the four pillars of culture the other three being art philosophy and science.
