A superb video Scott; absolutely invaluable advice. Excellent stuff & saved as one of my favourites cheers
Thanks Brian!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks so much for the video lesson. I never played in a jazz group so when presented with jazz music in band, I was didn't really understand the dop's and accents and ghosting. You have made it very clear. Thanks so much.
Great thanks
One of your definite strengths as an instructor is how you give examples several times of both the preferred method and then the not-preferred method. And then you repeat that sequence a couple more times so we can really HEAR it. Most instructors might do it once and move on. Your method really lets us HEAR it. Excellent!
Thanks! Yeah, I've learned through teaching tons and tons of students over the years that often times you have to play it wrong and demonstrate the difference for it to make sense.
Excellent review and illustration of concepts of articulation-thanks so much!
Thanks!!
Mulțumesc mult...💕🎶🎷🎶💕🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️

Thanks a lot, Mr Paddock. Very informative tutorial.
Thank you!!
Thank you!🙏♥️🇳🇵
Your welcome!!
Thank you so much for this video! As a member of my State's national guard band, we form smaller groups called Musical Performance Teams (MPT's). Our MPT is a woodwind quintet, modified (eight members). Unfortunately our lines from charts like "Take Five," and "Moondance," come off as lame, in my opinion, because we do not know these articulations you have suggested. I love hearing Records and CD's of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. I want to play our lines the same way as I have enjoyed hearing them. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Doug! Yeah, the correct dynamics and articulations make a WORLD of difference.
Using "DOP" sounds like a great way forward. Do you use any other "sounds" for notes and articulations?
In lessons I call a fall a doowwww & and a vibrato a doy-oy-oy-oy 🤣
Hello, would these rule also apply in a big band setting?
I need pdf please
