    The hardest part of this job were the dang spark plug gaskets! I recommend doing a ‘dry fit’ (with lubricant but without gasketmaker on the corners). I also found it helpful to fit the gaskets around the tubes first, it seemed to stretch them out a tiny bit

      That’s a great tip! Thank you for adding that information, this will help others, btw Did you reuse the old tube seals or replace them with new?

    Thank you so very much for doing this! I’m not a new subscriber but you can call me a happy subscriber! I have a 2007 SC and it’s time to do a valve job. I’ll watch your other video and probably have to call my son because I’m scared to try it by myself! We will have fun doing it together! Thanks again!

    the one at 8:04... I had that screw expload. I really wish there was a torque spec listed, I heard a blow and looked down and saw the nut along with the bolt fall off. I quickly applied a gob of the sealent to where the nut was and a month later it's all okay. Just bummed because I won't be able to ever do a valve adjustment.. (279k miles). oh well. I over tightened the oil drain plug on my moped and cracked the engine, JB weld everynight for a few days worked, 2 years later no leaks LOL. do not underestimate JB weld everyone, and Danny, please provide torque specs, I am such an amature that I just broke my engine lol. Got a new gasket though!

      Thanks, yes from now on I'll add torque specs, I've been in the business many years and forget that others do not have the same resources as I, sorry about that

    Thanks for these videos...I've used a couple to help with our 2008 Element. I didn't see a video, but have you done work on or replaced the shocks on yours? The rear suspension on our Element rides rough, meaning when I hit a bump or pothole, I get a fair amount of rattling and a "jolt", not much cushion. I bought ours used almost 3 years ago with 103,000 and it's up to 137,000. There's also a small squeaking nose that seems to be coming from the rear as well so I'd like to get under there and make sure things are tightened down if I choose to do the shocks on my own I've replaced the starter and the driver's side window motor on my own, so I'd think shocks should be within my current skillset.
    Thanks!

      1st, thanks for being a subscriber and watching my videos, I have some more videos planned for the Element, however shocks are not one of them. Good luck on your noise and I’m sure you’ll do fine with the shocks. if you film it, I’ll edit and put it up on UA-cam. Just thought

      Hey Joshua! I am not a mechanic and you certainly know more about this than I do. However, I will say that we are told that Elements need their valves adjusted at around 100,000 to 110,000 miles. Apparently an adjustment at that point saves problems down the road. You very well may already know this but I thought I should mention it. There are a couple of really great Facebook groups for Element owners.

      Hey Joshua! Just rebuilt my suspension, front and rear. Before that, the most difficult job I’d done was the starter. The rear suspension in particular is VERY difficult. The lower strut bolt is usually completely seized. We ended up cutting off the welded nut with a sawzall and hammering out the bolt - we completely removed the control arm to do this since we were replacing all the bushings anyway.
      If you do this, I can say the Bilstein struts for a 2006 CRV fits perfect (B4600). I paired this with some Moog 81095 springs

    Should the plug seals fit tight around the tube? I assume they do but the two different kits I’ve bought have been loose around the tube.

    Hey danny i wanted to ask something, could the adjustment of the valve could really effect on performance? I got same car in model 2010 and in some ascent it feels like the car has some issues to pull.

    Hello Thanks I have the valve adjustment video memorized ..doin it tomorrow ... Your Motor really really looks clean .. Mine's not so pretty ..i've owned it since new changed the oil at least every 4000 miles always use Castrol Full synthetic ... I have 95000 on my 03 EX ...What's your secret ? and or your mileage on your beautiful clean motor ? Thanks Again ...Don

      Valvolin full synthetic every 4 k and never let the oil get dark, it’s always been a light brown when I change it, 120 k at this time

      I have 340k+ miles on my 03 EX AWD and having been using Amsoil @ 10k mile change intervals since it's 2nd oil change ever. Still no smoking or burning oil at all. I did start getting an oil leak at the valve cover which led me to this video though.

    Hey danny! I sure wish I would have watched this video a year ago. I just had to have my 2005 element valve cover replaced and now it's got to go back to the shop because all the sudden it's running like crap and throwing codes giving me a misfire on cylinder one and misfire on cylinder three and a multiple misfire code. I don't know what that mechanic did but he had to have done something because I wasn't having any problem before! Any ideas?

    • @dannysdiygarage
      @dannysdiygarage  7 місяців тому

      I’d be interested in what they find, coil, plugs? Hard to make a guess, but whatever they removed would be what I would recommend rechecking, 👍🏼

    • @jeanariley7759
      @jeanariley7759 7 місяців тому

      Initially I had a code of 2422 which is the EVAP vent valve stuck closed I don't think they got around to checking it because I had more crucial things to be concerned with. And from everything I've looked at on the internet etcetera many times the vent valve get spider nest in it and they can clean it out. But typically what ends up happening is right next to it is the the gas tank pressure switch. That makes sense because I had some issues with filling it up with gas it would cut the pump off repeatedly before it was full.
      Needless to say in watching your video, they had to take out the coils to do the valve cover gasket. I'm thinking they damaged something or did something at that point.
      What is the hose that you have to disconnect if you're facing the engine to your right that you disconnected when you were doing yours is that some kind of a vacuum hose or a breather hose?

    • @jeanariley7759
      @jeanariley7759 7 місяців тому

      @@dannysdiygarage also I'm not referring to the power steering connection I'm talking about the one that look like it went over maybe to the airbox? What is that hose and what does it do? And would it be absolutely necessary to remove that or could you work around it possibly

    • @dannysdiygarage
      @dannysdiygarage  7 місяців тому

      @@jeanariley7759 Yes, if I'm understanding correctly, it's a vent for the crankcase.

    • @jeanariley7759
      @jeanariley7759 7 місяців тому

      @@dannysdiygarage so what is that hose go from end to end? I thought it might go to the breather box or the filter box and I think that's where the mass airflow sensor is but I'm not sure. I haven't had to do a whole lot with this car since I got it. And although I've had it for a while thankfully I haven't had a lot of issues! I have to go out there and open the hood and look but could that be any kind of an issue if it were not connected or if it got cut or damaged? In order to throw all those codes? Somehow I don't think so but I figure it can't hurt to ask
