Big Red has become quite the hotrodders haul and towing truck. That diesel engine with the twin stacks sounds great. The engine brake will be a good help when towing heavy loads. Great work as always guys !!!!
Another useful item when towing is a good rear view camera mounted to the back of your trailer. And if you get a two camera system you can have one on the back of the truck aimed at the hitch. After towing an enclosed trailer for years without one then adding one to my rig I’m now spoiled by it. So much better being able to see traffic behind me on the road as well as when backing up the trailer. All the nutty drivers out there that hang behind your trailer are now visible and I can safely see where traffic behind me is going. They make decent wireless camera systems to save on wiring, just get a good one that can transmit over the total distance of the truck and trailer.
Maybe you should look into mounting a camera on the rear of the truck and on the trailer. I understand they make some great after market ones. Did you mount the electric plug under the bumper or did you cut out a hole in the bumper? Which I think would be better.
Nice job on the hitch! If I could suggest something from experience that your fish plates should be diamond shaped. I've done plenty of semi frames lengths. General rule of thumb is no vertical welds on a frame. Built plenty heavy enough though!
Big Red sounds sweet !! and she will haul ! i would put in a backup camera for the hitch..have one on my truck and it is so awesome . Any way that truck is pretty awesome !!
Even with the heavy trailer, big Red's stance was proud. Not too much drop from front to rear. Steering must be fun. How dies truck and trailer handle the wind? Any future plans for an inverter, air compressor, welder? The new diesel pulls well. No speed records though.
I have had a few used trailers & the previous owners never did maintenance to the trailer brakes or greased the wheel bearings. I've had to go though the brakes & grease the wheel bearings & even repair the wiring under the trailer. I would pull the drums & at least check the adjustment on the shoes & check to see if the electro magnets are working. I had to replace those before. Also I suggest much bigger spot mirrors on the truck.
I would look into a 2 speed rear end or put a gear bender on the trans so that you can get some decent Interstate speeds out of that truck. Its a low end truck but its got nothing on the upper end
This is only a personal opinion, but the truck will look, ride and handle better with a wider size tire. Not higher, only wider. Especially on the steer axle. Good work, keep it up.
Might consider a "spring safety check" service episode for the trailer. Pull the wheels, service brake pivot points and magnets, wheel bearings, etc. Check all tie downs and inspect straps, lights, chains, break away battery and wiring for chaffing under the trailer.
That setup should cruise nicely its a biggish trailer but its not heavy enough to worry a good diesel, towbars even on heavy vehicles actually especially on heavy vehicles are bolted on, engine brakes would be handy but you wont be grossing big weights youre well within the max weight that engine and chassis can handle, just load the trailer right and it will be fine, That has to be certified here, you have no idea of the red tape surrounding turning a class 2 RUC weight vehicle into a class 3 like you just did.
Big Red looks awesome! When i saw you boxed the hitch rails i thought, yes!. Hes doing it right!! 👍👍

The first thing they need to do is a brake upgrade, and go from there!!
Now you need to paint the trailer red to match.
Or a wrap with graphics to match Big Red. Door logo on the rear gate.
Dude!!! The Ford that sounds like a Peterbilt, witch is a Cummings!!! Is bad ass!!! Chrome 22.5 alcoa wheels!!!✌️
Thank you Matt and Steve for the update on Big Red ! It looks and sounds awesome !
Nailed it with Big Red, got the look & the sound of those dual stacks when rowing the gears is sweet!
A usefull upgrade you will not regret! Big Red has gone from cripple to he-man!

Nice woodpile there in the background. Looks like you are ready for winter.
Looks good! You should drill a hole through the bumper for the trailer plug and mount it flush.

Good morning, Matt and Steve. Nice upgrade on the hauler.
Looking good 👍👍
Looks sweet. Dig it for sure.
Nice job on the hitch! The wiring for the rear lights looks like it needs a upgrade.

I think I would have tried mounting the plug for lights and brakes in the bumper somehow so it wouldn't get broken off again .
. Man that should pull down a brick building, nice job.

That's great! Hey Matt, now that this is done, it's time to fix the bed sides on your newer Ford Truck! Or just sell it and use big red from now on!!
Or find a new bed.
I like the fact the guy who uses plasma 😮 cutter for a hammer, is the guy who has to pay for it.😊
Been doing it for 15-20 years and never broke a plasma handle. All in knowing how hard to hit on it.
Perfect hitch and love the Stututu
Very nice job Matt and Steve
Hey great project, now your an official trucker.
Cool fully moon approved tow bar lol
Luv that truck....
good job man 👍💪
Great teamwork!
You created a hauling monster with that engine. Now find a two speed rear and it will be unstoppable.😅
Rust Encapsulator spray vs brush - concur 100%. Prefer to brush on. Much better coverage.
Big victory. Nice job.😊
The truck fits you guys to a tee makes a statement but its a real hauler
AC and OD and you got a mint anywhere hauler 👍

This truck mught be worthy of a crossover video with the DeBoss Garage Heavy Duty "DGHD" for a some updated axles and brakes.
Yep those are some of the next upgrades!

Trailer I’ve owned for years and all of the brakes were redone when I got it in 2019/2020

Paint the trailer to match Big Red with the Iron Trap graphics.
From my experience, if you would grind down the rust to fresh steel where you weld, you'd get much better welds.
Back up camera?
On the to-do list.
It would be a bunch of work, but inserting the electrical plug into the back of the body would protect it from the fate of the previous one.
Matt, I love Irontrap but…. You have a milling machine!!!! You can cut a square hole in that channel no problem man!
This project doesn’t warrant the Time it takes to set it up and do all of that. Sorry.
I am first this time i would put the plug in the bumper or the truck body. That way, it would never get drug off
You really need to paint that trailer red.. lol
Might consider a "spring safety check" service episode for the trailer. Pull the wheels, service brake pivot points and magnets, wheel bearings, etc. Check all tie downs and inspect straps, lights, chains, break away battery and wiring for chaffing under the trailer.
Sandy I wonder how turpentine would work in cutting the pitch.
Looks great. Did you ever get some ramps built or bought for the truck?
Yes we showed loading a car in another video
Have you talked about changing to a 2 speed rear axle?
Did you put a plate over the ends of the Z frame to keep dirt , stuff from causing erosion on the inside ?
How long before you have installed a backup camera on the back deck to line up on the trailer?
Definitely on the short to-do list!
Looking good. Paint the trailer to match.
Matt are you planning on putting a 2 speed rear-end on Big Red ?
Will you make Allentown Fair Grounds for the vintage drags? Ahh with a car?
I might swing by Sunday to hang out
Find a 2-speed rear end
Have you guys found a 2-speed rear end for the truck yet?
Will be putting a different rear in this winter if all goes well.
For a poor simple Pommie, what is an exhaust brake? How does it work? It's not something I've ever heard of this side of the pond.
Do you have a break away brake?

Yep engine/exhaust brake is on the short list for this truck as well.
Excellent job ,if you get another 40 ford cupe I beg you not to cut it up please.
Ball height looks a little low. Should be about 19". Each trailer mfg. can tell you the exact #. Tongue is awful short..tricky backing up.
Ball height can be adjusted. Was the first tow. Need to dial things in.
I ❤ Big Red...greetings from sth Australia 🇦🇺 👍 🦘
Engine brake Jacob break
You scare me not using low hydrogen rods on structural components.
Can you get drop axle for f600 and lowering block s for the rear lol
she is a smoker
