  • The 15ft box truck was a little empty after our last stop in Western Wisconsin, so we needed to make one last stop to top off the load. Matt and Mike stop in Milwaukee, WI to check out some 1928/29 Model A Trucks. In this residential neighborhood there is a garage behind the house with two Model A pickups and a 1919 Mitchell Model 40! Matt gets to work getting a front axle under the more complete truck while Mike heads to pickup the car trailer. Once the truck is on all 4 tires they work to load up the parts and get the truck rolled onto the trailer. The AA Truck is in pieces and the truck is full so the only logical play to put it is against the other truck cab!!

Pretty impressive to see a front end assembled with the only tool available (for most of it) being a pair of vice grips. They say necessity is the mother of invention.

It never ceases to amaze me how simply those old Model T's were designed. What would it take to attach the front axles to a modern car? It would take a lot more than an afternoon's work! Henry Ford was a genius to build the Model T as he did. Every farmer in America could work on it. For me at least, a big part of the appeal of a Model T is the simplicity and logic of its design.

Hey Dewey. The Mitchell is probably 98% complete. Missing some gauges, the oil filler cap, and a few misc. pieces I am sure. It still has the original interior albeit i rough condition but its there, and it still has the top bows and the remnants of the original top. You're right that the factory building still exists in a repurposed fashion. The car is available for sale as it needs to be moved in short order.
