I think that's way she says far from innocent because they didn't "officially" start dating until she was 18 but obviously he was starting something with her and it wasn't innocent even if he wasn't dating her or doing anything physical with her. He was doing the ground worm for it.
I think the one line that gets me the most is “just 5 years a bleeder” like think about that. She had just gotten her period for the first time 5 years ago… she was barely coming into her own sexual feelings, hormones and her body and for her to have to figure that all out so fast and with someone who already had figured this part of themselves and the world out is just sad. But of course blame the victim for allowing themselves to remain in this situation that was “so easy” to walk out of.

This song makes me cry, it happened to me just like that. Never thought a Demi song would do that to me and I am now 31 and I'd feel sick to think of being with a person too young to drink but I had so many guys my current age thing to come for me as a teen.
I love getting to see the reaction of someone who didn't already know something about Demi and Wilmer's relationship. It's a beautifully and powerfully written song even knowing but your immediate reaction to the first drop of 17 was everything. I'm currently 29 as well as Demi and I definitely fee the "Finally 29, 17 never would have crossed my mind." I did date older at 17 but he was 23. I still spent 20, 21, 22, and 23 thinking a lot about that...

OMYGOSH! I highly suggest you check out Baby Why by Sarah Cothran! The chorus and bridge are INSANE! She got popular a couple years ago because of her AMAZING cover of As the World Caves In!
I just turned 28 myself, I thin k the most important part of her song is when she says "finally 29, 17 would never cross my mind" because a lot of people see super young girls and older guys as normal, but put yourself in the shoes of a grown ass person, would you really pursue someone that is old enough to still be in high school? You should feel creepy for that.

I love this song so much. I had a relationship that I enjoyed for the most part, but it eventually fell apart as the person I was seeing flipped back and forth, saying one thing than acting another, and then he got mad when his ex moved on, and he was done with me and wanted to go back to her (which he did).

And I have absolotuley no clue how, I, all of a sudden should get the capabiltliy to catch up to that. Well, I mean it's not like she gave a fk about not being able to drink whine, I mean we know she did do a lot of partying and drugs already at that time after her own reports. I have been a fan since Demi was 16. If you go back and listen to interviews, she pursued Wilmer. He said no until she was 18. Wilmer is hot and a star on his own. Demi was already playing with drugs. Wilmer helped keep her feet on the ground. He came to her after the overdose. He is now in a relationship with a child. Is she "injured" by being in a relationship with him or "injured" he is in a relationship with someone else? Was her mom worried about that relationship. NO. She loved Wilmer
But Cindy she is saying in this song she regrets that. So why are you questioning if she should regret it or not? The fact is, it makes her uncomfortable.
