do you think it will be able to handle basic office work like having 5-10 chrome tabs open at a same time, some sheets + google docs + excel work without making too much of a noise?
My 2015 MacBook Pro got me through fifth year of high school and university. I've played flash games on it, ran epic games once (not for long lmao). It has been through so much and I am still using it. Came through clutch at 11:59pm deadlines. Ran Zoom for a presentation during covid. It's been with me all across the city for 4 years. The battery doesn't hold long anymore and sometimes it metaphorically gasps for air but it did what it had to do. It never let me down. o7

I have both and what I can say is the air os definitely more powerful and the battery is way better. I think the speakers on the air are actually also a little bit better. I think the air has the nicer screen but the pro having a bigger screen to me makes them about even. All and all I use both often the pro more often when im at home and near a plug the air on the go
Does anyone else have the issue of the corners of the screen being much brighter than the rest of the display, especially the bottom left corner? The brighter corners are only noticeable when the display corners are fully black such as when watching a cinema cut movie. Could this be an LED issue or something else, does anyone know?
I'm still using it now in 2023. Made a lot of photo editing in lightroom/photoshop and light video editing in fcpx. If you're a photographer and low in budget, go for this one cuz it's more than enough. i recommend highest spec (i7, 16gb ram and SSD). However, if u're a heavy video editor who need a machine for fancy colour grading, vfx, etc. then this one isn't the best for you.

I bought a used one of these 2015/15" recently. It randomly shuts off, like dead dead. Usually when I'm running final cut or any DJ programs. I want to love this but cant rely on it. Any ideas as to why?
My guess would be that it's shutting down due to overheating. The CPU in the 2015 MBP has a maximum operating temperature of 100 degrees Centigrade. If it goes over this temperature for an extended period then it will send a signal to the motherboard to immediately shut down to prevent heat-related damage. After 8 years of use, the thermal paste between the heatsink and CPU die is likely dried out and no longer doing its job, and the fans and vents are probably clogged with dust. Opening the laptop, cleaning out the dust and applying new thermal paste should reduce temperatures significantly. I have a video on my channel that shows how to do this - ua-cam.com/video/SDpvDi3rA8s/v-deo.html
@@BartechTV thanks. I did install a program that turns the fans on to high speed. And the temps seem to sit around high 80’s. I’ll take it and do all the suggestions you’ve made. Appreciate it

Hello I just bought a 2015 model. Just wondering what macOS should I run on it? It’s currently running the El Capitan os should I upgrade to another os like big sur or Monterey?
@@BartechTV personally which one do you recommend that will have the least chance of bricking the macbook and runs with the least amoutn of errors? and do you have any tutorials on how to install them?
Big Sur and Monterey are officially supported by Apple on the 2015 MacBook Pro, so they run perfectly and you just download and install them through the app store.
Yes, you need an M2 adapter (for example the Sintech adapter) and I'd recommend a Western Digital 2280 NVMe drive, as they have the best compatibility with macOS. Avoid Exceria and Samsung drives.

The Tuf F15? There's really no comparison. The i5-12500 CPU in the Asus is about twice as fast as the Haswell i7 in the Mac, and the RTX 3050 completely destroys the Mac's GPU. But, the Asus doesn't run macOS. So, it depends whether you need macOS or Windows.

Can anyone tell me the experience of using this one? That would be really helpful.
I don't do any music production, so I can't really advise you, but I've pinned your comment so perhaps somebody with more experience in music production will be able to help.
I've been using this laptop for production for the last 3 years and it can handle everything just fine. I use logic so it might be more optimal to use with this machine. You might want to look into reapplying some thermal paste on your processor. It costs about 5 bucks and it will keep your system from thermal throttling. Hope this helps!
I have the Radeon GPU model, and I love it, but the fans kick in even under a very small load, and stay on throughout - they spin super loud and the machine gets very hot. I’ve cleaned the internals, looks like the dust is out, but it’s still happening - do I need to reapply new thermal paste? Really love this machine, would love to keep using it
I think it depends on what you mean by small load. I have the r9 m370x model and the laptop is quiet while watching youtube videos or browsing the web. If I try to download something or play a game like Mass Effect 3, then the fans get very noisy. I did repaste my MacBook.
He says it in the video people still use these for video and photo editing...its just a bit slower than new macbooks on the market. He is a very kind person to answer you specifically knowing that he covered that in the video. Thats very Gracious.
The 13" is only dual core as opposed to the quad-core 15", and the integrated graphics is about 50% slower too. So if you choose the 13" you'd be looking at about half the performance when compared to the 15" with integrated graphics or about a quarter of the performance compared to the 15" with a dedicated Radeon GPU.
Beautiful laptop. Runs so smooth. As long as you have 16GB ram and 256GB SSD (or preferably 512GB or 1TB), you can upgrade to the latest OS with OpenCore Legacy Patcher. It may not be as fast as M1 or M2, but still very, very fast. Plus you have Bootcamp with Intel should you choose.

I bought the mid 2015 MacBook Pro with the Intel Core i7 in March 2022, and it has changed the way I work. Now I am thinking about upgrading to the 16 inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip to keep up with the times. The whole reason I didn't get the 2016 to 2018 MacBook Pro is because of the butterfly keyboard and the lack of ports.
Yeah I made the mistake of selling my 2015 15" to upgrade to the 2017 15". I instantly regretted it. I hated the lack of ports and the need for dongles, hated the touch bar, hated the keyboard, I was afraid of opening and closing the lid because of the flexgate issue and it wasn't even any faster. The 2016 and 2017 15" are two of the worst laptops Apple ever made. The 2018 model at least fixed the flexgate issue and brought an additional 2 CPU cores.
I have one. Yes it’s my trusty friend. But he gets HOT! Anything that needs above average processing in 2023 on this guy, you will need to listen to those fans whirrrrrr. But on my M2, no issue.

I think the air has the nicer screen but the pro having a bigger screen to me makes them about even. All and all I use both often the pro more often when im at home and near a plug the air on the go
How about heating and high fan noise?
Monterey will not be supported any more what to do?
Unpopular opinion: Those "big" bezels are completely acceptable because you can open the lid without smudging the living hell out of your display.
Does anyone else have the issue of the corners of the screen being much brighter than the rest of the display, especially the bottom left corner? The brighter corners are only noticeable when the display corners are fully black such as when watching a cinema cut movie. Could this be an LED issue or something else, does anyone know?
Great video mate 👍
I'm still using it now in 2023. Made a lot of photo editing in lightroom/photoshop and light video editing in fcpx. If you're a photographer and low in budget, go for this one cuz it's more than enough. i recommend highest spec (i7, 16gb ram and SSD).
However, if u're a heavy video editor who need a machine for fancy colour grading, vfx, etc. then this one isn't the best for you.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" mid-2014, and I've noticed that it gets hot and the fans work hard when watching videos. Is this normal for this laptop, or should I look for the issue elsewhere, such as the battery? Do you happen to know the temperature of your laptop?
@@RafalSokolowskiit's not normal in case of just watching video.
Appreciate it
The 2015 MacBook Pro 15in are getting harder to fine you’ll definitely fine them online but many sellers are ripping you off selling them for an unrealistic price you’ll end up getting busted ones with broken screen, no ssd, dents and deep scratches. Unless you want to fix them up it can cost way more you’ll have enough money to get a 2019 i9 MacBook Pro.
*Find*
Ever since I got this MacBook in 2020 This has been my main computer and the only problem I ever had with it was the screen flickering. fixed after a reboot
Hi, would this be any good today still?! Maybe for homework and you tube? Any idea what it is like for gaming such as roblox? Thanks!
For homework and UA-cam it would still be fine. It's not so good for gaming, though.
this book won't die soon
great review! I'm a graphic designer graduating uni mid 2023 I've been eyeing this laptop for sometime but don't know if I should get this (dedicated) or the Acer nitro 5 (I sacrifice a good display tho, but make up in performance) as I animate, video edit and illustrate. my budget is tight so would u still recommend this MacBook Pro?
Did you get this, how is the performance?
Got one i7 15 inch for $445 with normal signs of use. It's good for everything except FCP in my experience
Fcp??
thanks for the great review
Does 2015 nodel work for app development(xcode, Android studio and emulator/simulator) ?
Hello I just bought a 2015 model. Just wondering what macOS should I run on it? It’s currently running the El Capitan os should I upgrade to another os like big sur or Monterey?
Either Big Sur or Monterey will run fine. If you want update to Ventura or Sonoma you'll need to use OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
@@BartechTV Thanks!!! which one is better Big Sur or Monterey?
Just wondering, if this laptop can accommodate 4TB SSD??
Yes, you need an M2 adapter (for example the Sintech adapter) and I'd recommend a Western Digital 2280 NVMe drive, as they have the best compatibility with macOS. Avoid Exceria and Samsung drives.
@@BartechTV wow, thanks for your advice. Actually I almost buy Lexar or Crucial, since you said WD is good, I will check the 4TB SSD from WD brand.
hi, I study graphic design so I would really like to know if it is worth buying it
I'm going to use it for my projects so it means a lot of illustrator, photoshop and indesign work. Will it slow down ?
They are great machines but I would only pay $200.00 US max (as of Jan 2023) for a used one.
in my country u will get 450$ for i5 and 8gb for the mbp 2015
@@gilanggilang9859 That is crazy, that is too much but hey if you can get it, go for it! speaking of which I have a couple of 2015 i5 with 8 gb and 1 TB ssd, I will take $900.00 for the pair. One works and the other doesn't, it has a bad screen.
@@mrkattm they going from 400-600$ on eBay its crazy!
Just bought one for $300 on eBay after taxes and shipping
Not bad. It should last me awhile still. Even the 2013 macbook pros are still going strong
Thanks, usefull video to me.
Is this laptop good for cyber security student?
Maybe if you buy one with a dedicated graphics card. Maybe the R9 Radeon pro m370x
Hey bro I hope you're doing well I want to buy a laptop but I am skeptical between MacBook pro 2015 core i7 and ASUS TUF 2022 Core i5 12500. Which one do you suggest?
The Tuf F15? There's really no comparison. The i5-12500 CPU in the Asus is about twice as fast as the Haswell i7 in the Mac, and the RTX 3050 completely destroys the Mac's GPU.
But, the Asus doesn't run macOS. So, it depends whether you need macOS or Windows.
@@BartechTV Thanks for you perfect feedback. Also the price of Asus is twice the mac 2015 core i7. So yesterday I got the Mac for 500$ with Radeon R9 in good condition.
Should I get the 2015 13 inch mac book pro or 2015 12 inch lag mac book pro for school which one would you recommend than you
Is this good for IT classes ?
Yes for sure
I wonder if this is still worth it for music production. I am looking to buy one of these because it’s affordable in my country. I want to create my own music but my laptop right now is crap which is why I’m looking at this one. I am a musician with a very tight budget. Any music producers out there who uses this MacBook? Can anyone tell me the experience of using this one? That would be really helpful.
I don't do any music production, so I can't really advise you, but I've pinned your comment so perhaps somebody with more experience in music production will be able to help.
@@BartechTV thank you! Much appreciated!
in the same boat as you, would love to know! someone drop the knowledge
It’s fine for music production, most daws are heavily optimized at this point you could get away with even a 2017 MacBook Air and save some more money
I've been using this laptop for production for the last 3 years and it can handle everything just fine. I use logic so it might be more optimal to use with this machine. You might want to look into reapplying some thermal paste on your processor. It costs about 5 bucks and it will keep your system from thermal throttling. Hope this helps!
thank you, I made up my mind ! ;)
This MacBook good for lightroom and photoshop ?
I would love to know the answer to this too. I’ll be running figma and blender and can only afford a budget friendly laptop atm
For Lightroom and Photoshop I'd recommend getting the version with a dedicated Radeon GPU. Adobe apps are notoriously poorly optimised.
I did repaste my MacBook.
guys i got the macbook pro 2015, 13 inch with 8gb ram, which macos should i run? mojave, catalina, big sur, monterey, ventura or sonoma?
Monterrey is perfectly usable and is native so I’d go with that, I have a 15 inch 2015
Is it possible to use it for video editing ?
Yes, of course. Final Cut Pro runs very well.
He says it in the video people still use these for video and photo editing...its just a bit slower than new macbooks on the market. He is a very kind person to answer you specifically knowing that he covered that in the video. Thats very Gracious.
Hi, how is the 13" Macbook Pro 2015 for editing videos? Or would the 15.4" MacBook Pro 2015 be better for those functions? Greetings from Perú.
@@BartechTV Thank you.
Can the 2015 MPB with GPU run FCPX 10.6.5?
Beautiful laptop. Runs so smooth. As long as you have 16GB ram and 256GB SSD (or preferably 512GB or 1TB), you can upgrade to the latest OS with OpenCore Legacy Patcher. It may not be as fast as M1 or M2, but still very, very fast. Plus you have Bootcamp with Intel should you choose.
If i install windows in it, how fast is it work comparing to windows laptop. Is it work smoothly like i5 11 gen windows laptop?

Bro sonomo is coming is it worth to update ?
Heh try 2TB. I have one with the Radeon GPU and this is my go to laptop. Running the latest version of Ventura with OpenCore Legacy Patcher. :)
Does it runn well the leauge of legends game, coz i am playin only this game, but would love to get back to macbook pro but not to pay tomuch… in my opinion it is still great laptop !
Yes, you should be able to get a good framerate of 100+ fps in LOL since it's not particularly graphically intensive.
Thanks Bartech TV for the review. I am thinking of getting a 13inch Macbook Pro Early 2015 core i7, 16GB RAM, 512SSD for Web browsing, power point presentations and basic stuff. Do u think I could use it for that purpose for another 4years before I upgrade ?
For things like that - browsing and Powerpoint - it would be fine.
BarTech TV thanks so much Sir.
Can I use it for flutter development?
You can use it for anything that you would use a current Mac for. It may run a little slower, but it will work fine.
Hi, will the 13 inch Mac run web dev
The 2018 model at least fixed the flexgate issue and brought an additional 2 CPU cores.
i love you forever for putting the link for ventura patch
I just pooped 💩 party poopin fashow
How good it'd be for computer science students
Hello great video anyone can tell me what kind of standard adapter nvme need?
The best adapter is the one from Sintech. You can find it on Amazon or Ebay for around $15-$20. - t.ly/qDgSZ
Can I use it for music production?
And video editing?
Yes to both.
I have one. Yes it’s my trusty friend. But he gets HOT! Anything that needs above average processing in 2023 on this guy, you will need to listen to those fans whirrrrrr. But on my M2, no issue.
Mac. 13 inch with 8gb nd 2,7 ghz nd 512 ssd or mac 15 with 16gb 2.5ghz nd 512 which one is recommended pl let me know asap
Definitely the 15". The 13" MacBooks only have a dual core CPU. The 15" have a much faster quad core CPU.
Model Number?
A1398
will it slow down it i install windows on it?
No, it won't slow down.
if you can pick this MBP 15 2015 for less than 200$ its ok. otherwise save a lit bit longer and get the mb air m1 for roughly around 500$ bucks or later on for less than that.
Relic of an inefficient time 😅
