It's a very hard pun to bring over to the States but the closest being Rata's gag about it. Hell, all the Frog names in the OCG are Japanese puns.

I looked it up expecting it to be cheap and make a joke about how many you could buy with that 25 cents now but its actually about a dollar now. Expensive card even though its outdated as hell.

It doesn't matter because fans will consider anything an archetype as long as it keeps a consistent theme. One piece of crossover support does not make the Armed Dragon cards suddenly Ojamas, but they do work together in a fun quirky way.

FurredDragon his name was toad jam in the ocg and therefore is not part of the archetype. I think he was the first card to cause an archetype to have to say except “insert name here.”
Silverrokket allows you to choose a monster in your opponent's ED and banish it when targeted by a Link's effect. Rokkets are all about targeting their own monsters with Links to pop themselves, use an effect, and bring out another Rokket. Rokket player goes first -> Bring out any Link that targets (Striker and Booster Dragons are easy archetypal choices) -> Target Silver -> Look at your opponents entire ED and banish Toad back to the infernal pit it crawled out of -> put a new Rokket on the field. If your opponent only runs 1 of their key cards in ED, it's done for. TCG this isn't as big a deal if your opponent runs multiples but the lower ED size in Duel Links keeps Silver at limit 3 (meaning it shares a 3 card limit with other limit 3 cards e.g. you cannot run 3 Silver + any number of Levianeer but you can run 2 Silver and 1 Levianeer). Not meta, but definitely strong against decks that rely on specific combos or end states.

Ronin OR swap gone results in the end of frogs, and thats just what happened here. would have been nice if the last few cards with paleo or frogs on them where remotely as good as even older cards...

One of my absolute favorite decks Ive ever made was basically "water fun stuff". Frog engine, paleozoics, graydles, various ice barrier and white aura synchros, later on some marincess and other water spam cards. Deck was a blast and scared me how adaptive it was for a long time. Doesnt really do much against the metas these days, but still fun and can at least pull a few wins here and there.
Just went back to this video to update on the September 2022 banlist and guess which frog monster is banned and which one returns. Blame Spright for the change.
fast forward to late 2022- Substitoad is limited with no errata whatsoever, at the cost of Ronintoadin being banned because of some zappy hellspawns. Truly we live in the darkest of timelines.

I don't understand why they decided on making it "Des" (essentially making it an Engrishy version of "death") instead of actually changing the word to like... "danger" or something.

@@bruno0518 The whole "Archetype/Series" debacle is so arbitrary it's like how Rhydon is technically "Ground/Rock" whereas Geodude is "Rock/Ground". It doesn't matter because fans will consider anything an archetype as long as it keeps a consistent theme. One piece of crossover support does not make the Armed Dragon cards suddenly Ojamas, but they do work together in a fun quirky way.

Silverrokket allows you to choose a monster in your opponent's ED and banish it when targeted by a Link's effect. Rokkets are all about targeting their own monsters with Links to pop themselves, use an effect, and bring out another Rokket.
Rokket player goes first -> Bring out any Link that targets (Striker and Booster Dragons are easy archetypal choices) -> Target Silver -> Look at your opponents entire ED and banish Toad back to the infernal pit it crawled out of -> put a new Rokket on the field. If your opponent only runs 1 of their key cards in ED, it's done for. TCG this isn't as big a deal if your opponent runs multiples but the lower ED size in Duel Links keeps Silver at limit 3 (meaning it shares a 3 card limit with other limit 3 cards e.g. you cannot run 3 Silver + any number of Levianeer but you can run 2 Silver and 1 Levianeer). Not meta, but definitely strong against decks that rely on specific combos or end states.

let me join you, ill bring the shovel. im pissed about this because I grew to love playing frogs, particularly because of Paleo-frogs. Ronin OR swap gone results in the end of frogs, and thats just what happened here. would have been nice if the last few cards with paleo or frogs on them where remotely as good as even older cards...

One of my absolute favorite decks Ive ever made was basically "water fun stuff". Frog engine, paleozoics, graydles, various ice barrier and white aura synchros, later on some marincess and other water spam cards. Deck was a blast and scared me how adaptive it was for a long time. Doesnt really do much against the metas these days, but still fun and can at least pull a few wins here and there.
