After three months of ownership and 2000 miles it was time to return the Mini Clubman SD to Berry Mini. It was a brilliant daily, 5 on and I'm really missing it!

We have an R53 an R56 and an F56. And they all put smiles on our faces.
That tyre roar though! On your point about the BMW 6 Cylinder Diesels, I think it'd be great if you could compare the 35d engine against the 35i/40i engines. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, as an owner of a 435d, I always feel I've missed out a bit on the petrol equivalent. (but then feel relieved when it's £100 less to fill up :))
Nice wrap up review Joe. That first bit of the video was a bit like a theory test hazard perception clip! 😃 Agree with you about the rear boot doors. Got to be a manual too.
Darn you Joe! First BMW. Now Mini. Felt Mini, when they got taller committed heresy. Now I see myself liking them again.

I'm especially interested in the 3 cylinder engines, diesel or petrol. Clubman or 3 door hatch?
Yeah those bigger 'Cup' alloys are only available with run flats. The smaller 17" wheels come with proper/normal tyres so I suspect a lot of the ride comfort and tyre roar is down to the run flats. I have a 3 door hatch version of the SD and I love it. Such a tidy, useful, get-in-and-go car that goes pretty quickly and still returns nearly 50mpg. Does understeer though if you're pushing on as Joe has said previously about the Mini's. I guess putting a heavy diesel lump up front just adds to the problem.

Joe, have you driven the 125D before? Also a 4 pot. But can be exciting to drive.
Maybe some flashing lights Joe. Must be specced with that James Bond invisible car option. Haha.
I find my steering and seat aren't quite lined up. That's an issue as I feel I'm sitting offset causing some knee pain.
Joe, what contract did you have this Mini on? Didn't you have the 320d as an everyday?
I like it, a lot. But I can't get over how much they want for one.
Really interesting to see how you found the Clubman Joe. I just got a JCW last month and have been blown away by how it good is - Its a really great bit kit so am looking forward to seeing what you think of them especially compared to the M Lites. Another great video mate 👍
Ollie's Auto Channel I miss my M135i. I love the clubman cooper S I have, but it's not as refined for daily motorway bashing. Engine is great for a 2.0L but road noise and the lack of more flexibility are a shame. The team lining and understeer doesn't help.
Do you still love your JCW? I'm interested in buying a Clubman JCW SD and I've seen a couple. Worried going from the Countryman to the Clubman I'll feel it's too small though 🤔
Gearbox is different due to engine.layout I believe the ZF isn't compatible with transverse block

I am driving X3 now and I am thinking of switching to Mini Cooper S, I’m gonna look at 2016, 2017 and 2018 and compare them ( any thoughts on them ?) Thank you for making these mini videos. And yes, 😂 I saw the guy who just crossed the street, crazy.
Near misses indeed! Maybe it's the paintwork? My wife say the stelth grey of our focus ST blends in with the colour of the road and makes it hard to spot. When's this new M140i coming?
I had the first gen new mini with the supercharged engine which was a fantastic little car but the current car looks bloated and fussy by comparison and is slowly moving away from the original theme. Great to see the success your having Joe!
Some absolute weapons out on the roads these days literally have their heads up their arses because it certainly ain’t where it should be It seems. Nice review all the same Joe those 1st iterations of the clubmans look so cool new ones look better inside undoubtedly.
My Mini Clubman was a 1978 estate, 1100cc in bright blue with a beige cloth interior. I'm not so sure this one is as charismatic.

Am i missing something , insurance group perhaps? Thn go for less powered..
I want a fun mini clubman but which model .. got be petrol, insurance not a problem unless my daughter wants drive it.. she want tho Eh !! 18 just passed test.. course she will want it..
So want sat nav etc etc . Fuel economy aint bothered, price new under £30k and think, will i get insured for new driver at university.

I have driven an SD All4 (model 2020) but not long: for my much too loud inside. Motornoise is horrible during long drives.
Then I have switched to a BMW 520xd 😁

All them near misses I think was down to the colour of the car.. your just blending into the road. Good job it didn't have a dotted white line over the car as you'd freak out on coming traffic !!!!!😂😂
Mini's, as nice as they may be , are at least £10k overpriced in UK, with very little discount for buying new from the dealer!

Joe what was the average MPG.
He said at about 10mins, high 40s!
Also agree the wheels finish it but destroy ride on any potholed roads.
Mrs had the sd cooper 3 door and i did actually enjoy driving that over the 335d i have. You are right the suspension is absolutly pants on this, even if you change it to 17 inch it works no better, we had the adaptive suspension pack too which didn't do any help and particularly the rear seat comfort is really bad, it feels like jumping everywhere lol! The only plus point like you say you never expect a diesel could be fun and the fuel economy on this is madness on a long run never fails to return 55mpg!
Run flats are most of the problem with the ride
£33K for a car that will be worth £10k in 3 years...no thanks!

I’ve always disliked the mini clubman and countryman, I don’t understand why you buy this instead of a normal mini or get a better alternative to the clubman for cheaper
You’d need to be clinically insane to spend any more than 20k on a Mini
It is starts from 20K so everyone is insane who is driving it.
Paid £200 for my first and only one way back in 1978. A proper 1970 Mini held together with body filler and chewing gum!

Harry, you are of course entitled to your opinion, but you may need to quantify your statement or leave us to wonder how boring your life must be if nothing puts a smile on your face like a Mini................or do you mean the skirt?
