Hi Bill Vicars my name is Angela Zulu from Zambia,l am a beginner just started two months ago and am so excited to learn more thou am the only one in my area to do this and am trying my best but without help plz make a video of how beginners can learn easy # am your biggest fun and I believe I can change the way people look at daef people in my area thank you and God bless you .
The easy way to learn is to start with Lesson 1 and work your way up to lesson 60. ua-cam.com/video/DaMjr4AfYA0/v-deo.html Also, see Lifeprint.com for additional resources.
@Priscilla Fairbrother First of all thank you for your desire to be of more help to customers who use ASL. Those of us in the Deaf Community appreciate it. Rather than learning a few advanced situation-specific signs I encourage you to consider starting with the basics and working your way up to a level at which you can follow the video. In school terms "do the prerequisites." A recommended way to do that is to start with the master ASLU playlist and watch the videos up through to when you reach this "Customer Service Sign Language" video. See item #2 in the list below. My student assistant just a few classes previously did not know any ASL. Then after a few classes she was ready to take this class with me. Hello, I have wanted to learn sign language my whole life and your videos are helping me to move toward that goal. As a nurse I haven't had many deaf or hard of hearing patients but those I have had, have impacted me greatly. It would be amazing to be better able to serve my patients who are from the deaf or hard of hearing community. I have been reluctant to take courses at a local college as I didn't even know the alphabet and was concerned I would not be able to keep up. Marsha, please consider taking the classes. I am recently hard of hearing and 60 years old. I took ASL 1 and 2 at my local college. It was worth it. The Deaf community has deaf events which I attend whenever I can. We meet at local malls - food courts and sign with one another. Most of those who attend are students of ASL. I admit that a tv show lead me to want to learn.. which was the show "Switched at birth" made me realize how important it is to learn and I picked up a few signs from watching it but I really wanted to learn correctly. Thanks for the videos

Doctor Vicars, I work as a department manager in retail, and I have a new employee in my department who is deaf. My understanding of American Sign Language has been steadily growing for several years, but it does not cover many words used in retail, so I was wondering if there is a sign for the word 'stock', as in stock the shelves?
p.s. You can turn the "STOCKS" hands sideways and use C-handshapes to make it look more like putting "cans" on shelves. Or use a version of the PUT sign.
Hello Bill. I noticed that some ASL sentences will have "you" twice in it. ______ you ________ you. I was wondering why is this and what sort of situation do you do this? Thank you for all your efforts. You've made me rediscover ASL and learn it further than I had before. It'ss been a blast and a joy communicating more with my deaf coworkers 😀
Torgrim, See: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/topics/pronoun-copy.htm (In brief, we use pronoun copy to function as an auxiliary verb (such as "do" or "are"). See the link for more information.
Cami, that is a great question. If something were inedible I'd tend to sign "spoiled" or I'd spell "NG" (which means "no good"). I might sign PASS and spell "date." Another approach is to sign DEPLETE (run out of). However, you may indeed see some folks sign EXPIRED to mean "past the expiration date." The meaning of EXPIRED does tend to lean toward "licenses" rather than food "good by" dates. Here is a site to look up some of those concepts: www.lifeprint.com/search.htm
excellent idea, you use American language sign , teach the students to improve learning an example come your home come left finger and right finger are separately and posotionly distance near the chest, circling the movement , still. Using A.S.L.
Dr V., I was taught traffic is signed by rubbing palms together with open hand. Similar to what you're doing only rubbing flat hands together with one upside down, in opposite direction. Is this another version or incorrect?

I am reviewing he signs skillfully with American language sign. went go come has had the brown vase is nearing the window by sun. finding some answers a short or long sentence by he teaches students to understand each words. I suggest you explain students to possibly know some keys.
When asking about parts of the video it helps if you will include a time code in this format: 00:00 UA-cam will automatically convert it into a link to the specific place in the video. That way people that might be willing to help you can click on the link and then reply without having to sift through the video to find the material to which you are referring. Also, a good place to ask such questions is at the official Lifeprint-ASLU Facebook group. See: facebook.com/groups/Lifeprint.ASLU/ It is a private group but most people can join by answering a few questions that the automated system asks you and then being patient for a day until a moderator gets around to approving you.

Interestingly, the sign for "investing in stocks" is also used for "stock the shelves."
ua-cam.com/video/bselzczLtqI/v-deo.html
p.s. You can turn the "STOCKS" hands sideways and use C-handshapes to make it look more like putting "cans" on shelves. Or use a version of the PUT sign.
Rached Yes deaf ok ASL
Thanks for the class!! :)
Torgrim,
See: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/topics/pronoun-copy.htm
(In brief, we use pronoun copy to function as an auxiliary verb (such as "do" or "are"). See the link for more information.
Where can I find the practice sheets for this one?
Would you use that sign for expired if you were referring to milk? Or something edible?
Cami, that is a great question. If something were inedible I'd tend to sign "spoiled" or I'd spell "NG" (which means "no good"). I might sign PASS and spell "date." Another approach is to sign DEPLETE (run out of). However, you may indeed see some folks sign EXPIRED to mean "past the expiration date." The meaning of EXPIRED does tend to lean toward "licenses" rather than food "good by" dates. Here is a site to look up some of those concepts: www.lifeprint.com/search.htm
excellent idea, you use American language sign , teach the students to improve learning
an example

thank you! you are so cool+cute

Dr V., I was taught traffic is signed by rubbing palms together with open hand. Similar to what you're doing only rubbing flat hands together with one upside down, in opposite direction. Is this another version or incorrect?
Traffic has multiple versions.

the brown vase is nearing the window by sun. finding some answers a short or long sentence by he teaches students to understand each words. I suggest you explain students to possibly know some keys.
Thanks! !!
What was that part about the plant referring to? It sort of seemed random.
When asking about parts of the video it helps if you will include a time code in this format: 00:00
UA-cam will automatically convert it into a link to the specific place in the video. That way people that might be willing to help you can click on the link and then reply without having to sift through the video to find the material to which you are referring.
Also, a good place to ask such questions is at the official Lifeprint-ASLU Facebook group. See:
facebook.com/groups/Lifeprint.ASLU/
It is a private group but most people can join by answering a few questions that the automated system asks you and then being patient for a day until a moderator gets around to approving you.
