Anytime I take new passengers on my boat. I always tell them that if they throw anything overboard, they will be going overboard after it.

Those passengers in the front need to move to the back to help keep the bow up better. But in any case a boat that size shouldn't be in choppy waters this bad.

I did actually see a boat apparently with it’s family on board all the kids had PFD’s on but the dad should’ve had one on also to set an example to his kids. I can hear him now - dad why don’t you wear one - shut up kids I can swim but you can’t.

🛑🛑 I’m not sure what the term “Slow No Wake” means in New Jersey, but there were on 3 boats shown obeying the signs, the rest where easy “pinches” were I come from. 👍💯
Trim motor up throttle up
Captains, raise the engine up 10-30 degrees to lift the bow & run slowly but semi-briskly in, following the waves as they move. And get all passengers in the back of the boat if possible. Keep the nose light to ride over the waves and not through them!
That boat needs to move faster. Any wake it makes will be smaller than the waves dunking the bow.
Should rename that boat 'Super Scooper'

As to the idea that the problems of small boats in the Canal is caused by the NO WAKE rule, I disagree!! The big problem is poor design of the canal banks, they are a hard ( metal) wall that instead of absorbing the waves as a sloped, soft shoreline would, they reflect the waves back out into the channel. Think like if you create a wave in a bathtub! That combined with the inconsiderate skippers that barrel through with massive wakes, which bounce back and forth off the walls, that is what causes problems. But then, in many cases I question the sanity of the typical small boat guy taking a boat through there with no concept of the risk they are taking due to those excessive wakes. Big thing seems to be (same as at the Florida inlets) the insane idea of people riding up in the bow of many of these boats, preventing the bow from rising up to go over a wave. So, it is kind of a draw, blame rests on both the speeders and those that are taking the big risks going through there. Seems the canal wins most rounds! 😊

The boat taking on water should have mafe the 2 in the bow relocate and added a bit of throttle to pick the bow up and force the water out the scuppers.
I see all the waves and I cringe thinking about out 73 KCraft bass boat in those waters

How many times do you have to stuff it to learn, and I’m curious, don’t they make bilge pumps in that part of the world
40 plus years ago before they built a new bridge over the canal, the rough water was a 1000 times worst and i'm not exaggerating! My first time thru the guy in front of me missed hitting the bridge going in and coming out by less than an inch. Was really scary!!! The flow of the tide was so fast underpowered boats at full throttle would go backwards!

It’s the same story a always inexperienced. boaters do not belong in the canal, particularly when the current is running. It’s nice you want to go for a ride to look at the ocean and come back but if you don’t know how to drive your boat, you shouldn’t even be there that boat was going way way too slow and this isn’t even the worst. the train bridge is a nightmare dealing with these people that have no idea they have to line up so the boats on the other side can see you instead of just popping out from a blind spot in front of a large boat moving forward with the current pushing them.
I’m just surprised the first boat’s FICHT Evinrude didn’t blow up halfway through the canal 😂
It really bothers me the boat with I will assume the very young baby being help by it’s mother. Sure it had a life vest PFD on but no way could that baby live if not gotten to time with the waves so high. I just don’t get where some people’s brains are but apparently some either are left at home or they just don’t have any.

Half these boats are going way too fast. Second, as I've been a passenger on boats through that canal, half are too small to go through that wake. If the cops were sitting there all the time, they could easily write enough tickets for speeders to generate 3 of their yearly salaries per month during the summer months.

Get the weight out of the bow and where the hell are the scuppers! Every boat i had has them. Water comes in water goes out faster. Took a 6 ft wave over my 22 ft wa. Alot of water. Gone. Poof. 4 drains. Barely used bilge pumps.
