Shelly is great and glad she brings you out. With that’s said, I’ve always admired your ability to articulate thoughts on books in your singular reviews. That duology of Butcher’s set the community ablaze 😂 I remember Krypto was so upset.
I’ve wanted to get into The Dresden Files but I have read the first book a couple of times thinking I’ll get past it and onto the ‘better’ books. But I haven’t! 😂
I had Alias Grace on my shelves for years but un-hauled it. Pleased I did 😂 Thank you both for sharing about the crappy books so we can all avoid them!!
I still need to finish the second volume of Man Without Qualities but it’s hard to get inspired other than to say I read . I quit reading the Dresden Files after book 2. It actually felt like I was rereading the first with a few cut and paste changes. I just couldn’t imagine staying with the series for umpteen books.
Yeah, the second felt like the first to me. At least it’s easy reading. If I wasn’t consuming them on audio at 2x speed It’d never have happened, just in the mood for trash!
I think that’s exactly what it is lol every woman is hot and Harry is hard up and he’s white knighting all day, it’s a very specific power fantasy he’s going for lol
I also did not like Alias Grace either. I was also left unsatisfied and just didn't really care about any of it. I do like some of Atwood's other stuff, so I wouldn't discount her completely. But I really don't understand the appeal of that book.

Thank you, Una.
Thanks a lot! Very kind of you!
Oh did it! It makes sense that it did, I wasn’t aware of it though.

It does get better, for a time. I’d start around book 4-5, but yeah unfortunately it then just declines again, after a while :\
Fraser, it’s good to see you. I appreciate whatever you have to say about books, misogynistic or otherwise.
Thanks so much ^^

Unhauling Alias Grace is a good move.
I have the audiobook on audible, but I dunnnooo when I’ll ever get to it at this point
Battle ground. Ugh! I was done after that.
I'm surprised about the Atwood, but it is overlong, so I could see a tighter edit being a win.
Haha yeah! It’s too bad because for a while there they were getting better. Until.

Yeah we love Shelly but we miss you Fraser for SURE!!
Aw thank you ^^
Your description of the Jim Butcher as acotar for men is perfect. 🤣🤣

We miss you Fraser!
Thank you Deb :)

Yea! Not satisfied in the least.
I’ve only watched the show, which I liked, but also remember being overlong
If you don’t want to read misogyny stay away from Pygmalion! It’s worse in the book than in the musical, & even that is pretty overt.
I’ll definitely stay away from Pygmalion.
Noted and noteddd
I refuse to read Joyce Carol Oates. One was enough!
I’m with you! One was enough.
Harsh but fair
Joyce Carol Oates isn’t for me either.
Shelly trashed the one Margaret Attwood book I can stand!😄
Haha oh no!
