I like Budokai 3 best of those 6 games. I like 2D perspective, more cinematic Ultimates, overall better graphics and also I feel that beam clashes worked best in this one. Intro was also best out of all 6. With that being said Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is very, VERY close 2nd here for me. I like roster, destructible environment, freedom of movement and melee clashes were better in this one. Team battles were also great, so I can choose more than one of my favorite characters. Budokai 3 and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 were the pinnacle of anime games of PS2 console gen(forgot which one it was), the only thing that would make one better over the other is personal preference, both being my 2 favorite PS2 DBZ/anime games. Makes it even better since BT makes a comeback soon with Sparking!Zero! Hopefully after success of Sparking!Zero Namco Bandai decides to revive Budokai series too, I’d love to have them both back with new installments.

Budokai is better than Tenkaichi, because the attacks & special moves are more intense & realistic in Budokai. Tenkaichi characters looks dull & Budokai characters looks more vibrant. Even though Tenkaichi has more characters, the characters attacks are repetitive & easy to do making it boring. In Budokai you have to work hard to use special moves on your opponent, & those special moves are done with great intensity than Tenkaichi's special moves. Budokai is like Street Fighter game, and Tenkaichi is like shooting game where you hit or miss.

I like both Budokai and Tenkaichi trilogies, however. My vote always go for Budokai.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai was the first Dragon Ball game I ever played, and it came out as the manga was still releasing in Norway.
Weekday evenings, weekends and sometimes vacations went to playing Budokai, or having it on in the background just for the soundtrack while doing other things with my friends since it is so amazing.
Tenkaichi came out around the start of my teenage years, so we had grown abit out of Dragon Ball, and was playing other games, mostly TimeSplitters at that time, so not as many hours was spent on that trilogy. We did have impromptu turnaments amongst ourselves in it, and it was a blast, but Budokai was the fallback game of the DB games when we wanted to play DB.
In all, Dragon Ball has a very special place in my heart. As I grew up reading it, playing both Budokai and Tenkaihchi trilogy when they came out, and now, reminicing about more simpler days.
Dragon Ball has brought so many people together, from many places and friend groups, and it was very important in the early-mid 2000s for me and many others.. It lives on, and will still keep living on, even when we, the consumers, grow up. It gave us so many fond memories, and we are grateful for them.

Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters
    - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down)
    - Fusions mid-battle
    - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel
    - Tons of extra content
    - Story mode covering all sagas + movies
    - What If sagas
    - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot)
    - Great tournaments that rotate availability
    - Edit characters with items (buffs)
    - 5v5 battles
    - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks
    - Destroyable environments
    - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives
    - Mission 100 being a great challenge
    - Artwork is 10/10
    - Sound effects are great
    - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.

0:39 Yamcha dying to a saibaman is the Hank Pym slapping his wife of DBZ. Except it's probably even less fair. Yamcha beat Recoome in the Other World by yeeting him into Hell not long after (Tien only yeeted Burter and Jiece and Chiaotzu only yeeted Guildo because of course he could only yeet Guildo.. ) and somehow managed to _not_ die when he was defeated by Dr. Gero who _impaled him through the chest_ and drained his ki (he was given a senzu bean but it's still weird that Gero failed to kill him)

Budokai 3 had the most refined combat, best story mode with lots of hidden secrets, and explosive, satisfying combat. And both have their legacy successors, meaning fans continue to have options with regards to what kind of game they want.
Budokai's current legacy successor is, of course, FighterZ. Though more grounded than Budokai, the 2D fighting plane and general style definitely owes much to Budokai.
Budokai Tenkaichi's legacy successor is the upcoming Sparking! Zero, which was definitely by design.

Sparking! Zero is actually a direct sequel, not merely a successor. It’s being worked on by a lot of the same people that worked on the previous games, and said previous games all used the Sparking! title in Japan.

Budokai 3 is objectively one of the greatest fighting games, in fighting game history. It took an entirely new and unique approach, to not onky what Ultimate battle 22 tried to be, But it also pioneered the camoaing fir BT and the games forward. Its ease of acces to combos, but presentatio of techincal skill, allowed for SO MUCH unique gameplay and replayability.
Not only this, but Budokai 3 opened the gates for multiple timelines being explored, with s multitude of outcomes.
It's attention to detail was so INCREDIBLE. The player felt like the character they played, and the moments, ultimate presented is STILLZ UNMATCHED, (until fighter z imo)

Well I can certainly pick which trilogy had the better title: DBZ Budokai. The Budokai Tenkaichi title was just a result of Western publishers trying to capitalize on the Budokai trilogy's success, since Sparking was the original Japanese title for that series. Plus there's the fact that Budokai Tenkaichi is a reversal of the word Tenkaichi Budokai, which translates to "Strongest Under the Heavens Martial Arts Tournament", so flipping it meses up the translation. It's especially dumb in retrospect since the new game Sparking Zero is using the original brand name in even the overseas releases, but of course they have to keep reminding us Western fans in the trailers that it's a continuation of the Budokai Tenkaichi series to make up for their past marketing ploys, heh.
Still, they were all classics. Budokai 1 may not have much in terms of gameplay in retrospect, but it still had the best story mode of that trilogy with the cutscenes and all (even if it left out the last arc). Tenkaichi 2 (or Sparking Neo in Japan), on the other hand, had the best story mode of that trilogy in my book. Budokai 3 might've had a similar story mode with the flying around the maps feature, but you could only play one character's story at a time so that kinda made it restrictive. Plus Tenkaichi 2 at least had some cutscenes. I also do like Budokai 2's story mode for the sake of creativity, even if the board game concept was too out there for some fans. To me, it's like Dragon Ball meets Mario Party.

If Tenkaichi 3 had Tenkaichi's 2 Campaign mode, it would be The Best DBZ game. And I'm willing to die on this hill kkkkkkk

The combat system was better in Budokai 3 and Infinite World. Tenkaichi had more stuff but the older games had better quality in that area.

The Tenkaichi series easily takes it due to the amount of depth they have (mainly the second & third) but Budokai 3 definitely gives them a run for their money in certain aspects
Also the American versions had the better intros don’t care what anyone says

You should clarify "fighting" trilogy. The best Dragon Ball Game trilogy is Legacy of Goku, LOG2 and Buu's Fury on GBA

My thing is I’ve never thought that the Budokai games felt like a proper representation of fights from dragon ball. The 3d environment just suits the franchise better in my opinion if handled correctly. It doesn’t mean that the budokai games are bad, but tenkaichi “feels” more like a dbz fight. I mean I guess you could argue that budokai feels more like fights from dragon ball, and tenkaichi feels more like fights from Z?
Also, the budokai games are very clunky. I know some people might be upset from me saying that, but you’d have a hard time convincing me otherwise. The shin budokai games are honestly the smoothest feeling ones. (Besides maybe burst limit which I haven’t played)
I’ve never even really liked the budokai games from the second one onwards graphically. The character models look weird to me. Especially their heads/faces. I played both franchises as a kid but I’ll always prefer tenkaichi.

While I still think that B2 has the best fighting controls in the series, I think B3 is the best game overall. I do really like the BT trilogy but I always found the actual fighting not be great.

I like both. But the first game I played was the tankaichi 3 on PS2. I went to my friends place back then and I was mesmerized by the graphics & the gameplay. Man the nostalgia hits hard with this one.
I just bought a retractable bsp D8 controller for my phone and the experience has been great with the emulation of PS2,Dreamcast,GameCube & psp is awesome. Experiencing all sorts of games again. The best way to experience old school games

Tenkaichi honestly felt more fresh and unique, while the Budokai games are mostly decent 2d fighters held up by the license.

  • @Kiyuja

I had Tenkaichi Tag Team and I gotta say the AI was awful so they had to bombard you with like 4 enemies at once to increase difficulty. The 3D fighting sounds great on paper but it doesnt really translate to much imo. The novelty of these amazing looking moves wears off quickly. Never played Budokai but old 2D DB fighters were good so I'd pick them...

I think Budokai is too slow. Tenkaichi speed is perfect for a DBZ combat representation.

    • @Vulpas
      @Vulpas 2 місяці тому +1

I agree about the speed but fast bad combat isn't better than slower higher quality combat. Neither are the best in terms of gameplay but Budokai feels good to play despite its depth being relatively low, but Tenkaichi's depth is puddle deep.

    • @Beforezzz
      @Beforezzz 2 місяці тому

I never stressed the speed in Budokai. It was kinda like Tekken with DBZ characters which is awesome. You might've enjoyed Infinite World because its as fast as those games get.

  • @Darth555

As a full trilogy, the Budokai trilogy is better. The problem with the Tenkaichi trilogy is only 2 out of the 3 games are worth playing. There is absolutely no reason to play the first tenkaichi game when the second does story, combat, roster, and game modes 100× better.
I feel like the budokai games each have their own identity and are worth playing for their own reasons, B1 for story, in addition to Zarbon and Dodoria, B2 for Dragon world and the non canon Super Buu absorbtions, and B3 for having the best roster and Dragon Universe.

Easy choice, Budokai is better than Tenkaichi. Arena fighters as a genre just don't play well, especially early ones with their wonky cameras.

  • @habiburrahman8497
    @habiburrahman8497 20 днів тому
