- SUPER exciting to see the first F/A-18 Super Hornet ever built unveiled at The National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. This aircraft represents the first and only F/A-18 Super Hornet on display at any museum in the world. Thanks to the success of E1 and the hundreds of Super Hornets that followed it, the legacy of the F/A-18 is still being written.

*_Former Boeing Everett... I love the F/A-18 Super Hornet and I love St Louis too..._* I was part of Lean Manufacturing in Everett... We were ahead of St Louis in implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles... We were sent to St Louis to Lean Out and Remove Defects in Manufacturing of the F/A-18... I lead a Team in Final Ramp where Jet Engines, Black Boxes, and Weapons were installed... We eliminated 50 percent of Waste and Defects which allowed Boeing St Louis to get Second Contract with US Navy... First Contract is always much higher per unit due to R/D, Ramp Up Quantities, and getting all parts of Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Testing, and Final Sign Off of Plane to Navy... Got lost during 1 break and strayed into a High Security Required Area... I was 'greeted' by 2 heavily armed guards who challenged me... I said I got lost looking for a bathroom... I also produced my Security Clearance Badge and told the guards I had clearance to be in every area here... they told me I was entering the Paint Booths where Classified Coatings were Applied... I replied 'I have clearance for that and know exactly what was being Applied... Coatings was also on Lean List to fix... they said no one goes in their right now... Fumes are too toxic and to come back in a few hours... they also pointed me to nearest bathroom...I love St Louis...
Some people think they can just walk in any area.
Not so!!
@@alanwhiteside410 Thanks for comment. They were guarding the area were RAM coatings and special paints were applied... I knew about them, but after application the area was toxic for a while. They were there to keep people out until safe. Let's just say I wasn't expecting them and they weren't expecting me. "Which way to the Latrine" - LOL. I still get a chuckle...
Was my honor to lead all F/A-18 flight testing at Patuxent River, Co-Lead for the Super Hornet IPT and later the F/A-18 Program Manager in PMA-265. It was a great ceremony to attend the evening event will many friends. Thanks to the folks that put E-1 back together and display.
what other planes have you flown
I was their from first flight to 05, worked at hazelrigg, then 201. were you government? because I knew all the MacAir/Boeing engineers and a bunch of government. I Remember fred`s first and last flight
You ever see a ufo? Strange things in the sky?
F/A-18 LETS GOOOOOO!!
Boeing has to improve their reputation
they do
Especially after the Starliner incident
It’s been my dream to fly one of these one day ❤
I love how the very first Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet went on museum display in St. Louis, Missouri.
It all started when it was built in 1995 with entering U.S. Navy service in 2000 and replacing the Grumman F-14 Tomcat in 2006.
Eventually the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet was sold to the Royal Australian Air Force, Kuwait Air Force, Royal Malaysian Air Force, and was even put as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels demo team! Its production line will last until 2027 and its service will continue to the 2040s.
In pop culture, the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet appeared in movies like Behind Enemy Lines (2001), Top Gun: Maverick (2022), and Disney/Pixar’s Planes (2013) as two characters named Bravo and Echo played by Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards.
I wish they didn't replace the Tomcats... Ik the Super Hornet is better but that airframe had a lot more potential.
They should recover its twin seat counterpart from the deck training unit at NAS Pensacola F1 BuNo 165166 and place it next to E1. Following EMD and carrier suitability trials, F1 went onto bigger and better things by becoming the EMD trials aircraft for the EA-18G program and designated as an NEF-18G. When F1 was finally retired, BuNo 165875 took over 18G trials along with some single seaters when electrodynamic trials began to ramp up.
What a great tribute to McDonnell Douglas!
one of my favorite fighters
Thank you ❤
Can we get F/A-18 Super Hornet Block 3 with EPE engines for the Marines by any chance?
Amazing!!!
F14 has legacy also.
Also Phather Phantom !
And Intruder !
And Corsair Jet and Prop !
Looks great
Was part of E\F EMD flight test. From first flight so follow on. Knew all 7 hornets pretty good. Went to the desert with F2 for a bit, until the hanger foam went off while the plane was in mod. What a disaster that was getting all the paperwork salvaged.
Can't wait to see it in my hometown!
St.Louis
Wow!
Awesome
It's rather remarkable that the Hornet family goes back to the YF-17 that lost to the YF-16 in Air Force lightweight fighter competition.
The best jets Boeing makes are from McDonnell Douglas F15 and F18.
Go F/A-18 SUPER HORNET ✈️✈️❤️❤️🙌🏾🙌🏾🇺🇲
hornet my beloved...
nice
nice!!
I can't wait to fly this in Arma 4.
Nice 👍
Wsp also awesome vid boeing

Boeing makes the nicest planes

Well, in military aviation anyways.
Technically originally, a McDonald Douglas jet
These airplanes are used to commit war crimes. There is nothing admirable about them. Boeing's civilian airplanes are also unsafe!
It's a McDonald Douglas design, that started out as Northrop. Aircraft company names hardly mean anything they are all amalgamated now.
Neat.
F-14 is Still Best
Great! Where can I buy?
Star of Ace Combat series. 30 years of Super Hornet in 2025.
💙💙💙
1:58 the Blue Angels.
Please make the 767x concept
McDonnell Douglas.
Exactly! Definitely not Boeing
Imagine if the f-5 went through to win, and eventually get those inverted wings the engineers imagined 😅 (and the x29 got)
i see this fighter on movie top gun & behind enemy lines ,
They won’t let me use that word 😏
the Current Blue Angels
Will the next version be called the F/A-18 Super Duper Hornet?
Fly Navy!
Also what about the LEGACY Bug !?
She’s just about Better than the super anyway at least in Agility and maneuverability with BlueAngles !
What happend to John Barnett?
♥️♥️♥️♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
RIP ST-21 you will be missed
Humans were never built to fly or handle machines. Thank god for aviation
Thank the Wright Brothers, and man's strive for the sky, not god.
Only TopGuns and Mavericks can fly this plane?
Boeing
Day two of asking Boeing for a free 747
Hi Boeing
Maverick flew a F-14, haha
The sequel, Top Gun: Marverick, features Super Hornets. So, haha.
@DevelDogg48and the F-14 again😂
@@GAGE-THE-HOBBY-NERD Somehow the Russians had *one* in airworthy condition
@@DevelDogg48 iranians must have been REALLY desperate if they gave one to russia huh

And then a good old P-51
HAHAAAAAAH
Cool, now fix the 737 max
The 787? Hasn't had any problems.
The 737 Max? Was fixed years ago and has been doing hundreds of successful and safe flights every day for years now
@@cherrypepsi2815nope just replace it with something better
I hate the 37’s history
Too many crashes in their life span!!!!
MORE F/A-18s
Hi boeing
Piękny!!!❤❤❤ Jak wszystko co amerykańskie. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!❤❤❤
The last quality aircraft built by Boeing… ?
Nope…………
Military is top priority these days
Cyclone was right about one thing in top gun maverick: the super hornet has a fighting chance against the Su-57 due to hangman used one to shoot one down.
Transportation Museum??. Rest assured, no one will ever see that.
What an insult.
Agreed, should’ve been put in the National Naval Aviation Museum, or maybe at the Naval Academy
Excuse me
I will 100% see that and I won’t be insulted for a hateful comment against the workhorse of the navy
Ya Russian spy!!!!

Yet boeing still has time to make youtube videos instead on focusing on safety.
Two different departments. At least these aircraft will make them realize how awesome they were, and inspiration to come back strong
KEEP DREAMING. CONTRACTS ARE AWARDED TO THE LOWEST PRICED BIDDER! THINK ABOUT THAT NEXT TIME YOU GET ON A BOEING PLANE!
These weren’t made by Boeing. It was originally made by McDonnell Douglas. Same as the F15 and the F14
@@nperera90 The department responsible for their socmed should know better than to post videos like this when Boeing's image is tanking after the third scandal in a short time.
They are making us aware of recent updates, if you care that much about humanity then instead of commenting here go and start serving humans in hospitals.
the only boeing plane where doors don't vanish is the one that has no doors.
No matter how super a hornet is, it's still just a bug. Go Tomcats. Also marks the last time Boneing blew the doors off of something other than their own planes.

Great now try building a space vehicle that can make it back to earth. How much is Elon going to charge Boeing?
Navy aircraft are the best, forged by the sea. ✊✊ In my mind, the F18 and 35 are the only fighter aircraft that are absolutely needed for the US military.
The Hornet falls nicely in terms of capabilities between the Falcon and the Eagle while the Lightning can be used mainly for air to air targets since dogfighting is basically dead
@@EagleDescent F-14!

First !!!!!
Day 2 of asking to get a 747
The B name should NOT be on that airplane!
Tomcat is better
Have any panels fallen off it since you put it on the podium...?
That aircraft keeps you free, you ungrateful troll.
