As a Celtics fan, I respect the Knicks' moves. They brought in players that give them as good a chance as anyone against Boston (Bridges and Anuoby are good defenders to put on Tatum and Brown). They also are trying to work their contracts for after Boston's salary sheet becomes unpayable. It's really the best of both worlds. On the one hand, they can compete with Boston now, but they are also bringing in guys that they hope will be together after Boston has to break up.

As a Celtics fan, I see the Knicks as a significant threat if they can stay healthy. They play extremely hard and they can flat out defend. And Brunson is a dominant force on offense with very good offensive players around him. I believe they have the talent to win a title next season. They should be a lot of fun to watch for Knicks fans.

They both averaged 30 in the ECF’s, the Mavs scheme was to force the ball out of the paint so the Celtics generated double the amount of shots from 3 in their wins because of Tatum and Brown. In fact Tatum was the best playmaker in the finals for this reason. Unfortunately you don’t know ball, you think all star players have to do is score 30 for them to win or for it to be impressive. Did skip not watch the regular season prior to Randle and OG getting injured? Brunson USG Rate was drastically lower and he was making everyone around him better but because of the injuries he was asked to do more to keep there season alive and he did. Adding Bridges and hopefully everyone stays healthy brunson doesn't need to do all of that which Brunny only wants to get wins however he can. Scoring 50 points a night isn't what he cares about
Brunson averaged almost 7 assists per game last year on a team where his second option was hurt most of the season

Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson statistically are just barely better than Brown and Tatum in everything but “Boston has the bigger stars”.
The only thing is that if you look at it as a 1a/1b situation. Tatum (1a) out rebounds Brown (1a). And Brown (1b) has a better FG% (by only 2%) than Randle. But Randle averaged 1 more point than Brown and out performed him in every way offensively

PG Brunson/McBride
SG Bridges/Donte/Hart
SF OG/Hart/Toppin
PF Randle/Hartenstein/Achiuwa
C Robinson/Hartenstein/Achiuwa
PROS: The starting lineup has the top defense in the league, 3 20+ PPG scorers, & a 15 PPG scorer. Excellent spot shooting. The transition game is going to be LIT. OG will hit corner 3s for days leaving Randle for his top of the key spots.
Both PGs can shoot high percentages.
The bench is tough & will out work most other benches. They are tough, can rebound, block, & get deflections. Those 50/50 balls are coming our way more often than not. Hart can play SG or SF with length & has shown the ability to score 15-20 before & Donte showed up with 15 last year & showed up in the playoffs. Someone is going to have to eat buckets but the firepower is there. Combined with the 90s Bull's level defense they don't even need it which is what makes this team so scary.
CONS: The fact that Randle is the 2nd option & has been inconsistent at times, especially in the playoffs & often has poor body language & attitude can rub off on others. He isn't the most efficient scorer & this team may be better with him being the #3 option, but will he accept that? A trade may be needed here for a better fit.
The squad is young & in their prime but Coach Thibs is going to have to trust the bench & give them minutes. The bench got plenty of experience down the stretch & in the playoffs this year. There is no excuse for him to not lean heavily on them during the regular season so they are ready for a deep postseason run. If he fails to adapt & the Knicks are gassed heading into crunch time it may not matter now much youth or talent they have on their side.
The team will have to avoid being snake bit again, so hopefully players will remain injury free & not have any hangovers from last year.
An overpayment of assets has left them little room to maneuver the way they did this year. Leon Rose is going to have to be creative if he wants to bring the 50 year drought to an end in the mecca of basketball.

JB is 6”2 and people underestimate the value and importance of him being a lefty ! Left handed players are 25-35 % harder to guard . That never gets discussed. Plus no thoughts of back to back NCAA championships, beating all these guys they’re talking about, no discussion on chemistry. Nova Knicks aren’t just teammates, they’re family. Each one would lay in front of traffic for the other. The will to win, your confidence level , and willingness to sacrifice for your brothers is just different.
Knicks don't need another star. They need chemistry, depth, and people playing their roles. Their moves were perfect for them. We see what happens when teams just throw stars together (Suns, Clippers, etc). Knicks play team ball and they have a superstar in Brunson. Then he has Bridges, OG, and Randle that can each put up 20+ regularly. THis is a good team that can beat anyone if they play consistently.

These guys are clueless. Skip says Brunson has a limited ceiling but avg 27 ppg and 6 assists in the regular season. 32ppg in the playoffs. Several point guards have been the best player on their teams and won. Including Curry most recently. Randle was an allstar. I definitely dont want a 34 aging Paul George who is injury prone for 5 first rounders. His prime is gone sooner than later.

Knicks have a great balance -- no superstar, but guys that can play well on both sides of the ball. They won't beat my Celtics, but they'll give them some major competition, especially if Porzingis gets injured.
