    Great video Jeff. Perhaps you could include some crime statistics of the areas being discussed in future uploads. It would give the viewers an accurate portrayal of the differences between areas while allowing you to sound neutral/unbiased in your opinions.

    Semmes resident here. We moved here from midtown and are very happy here. MGM is a great school. Our community really supports the football team and there is always a great crowd at all the home games and even the away games as well. If you ever come through Semmes you have to try Yellowhammer coffee, absolutely the best! It's a quiet little area that continues to grow.

      I’ve known the owner of yellow hammer for more than 20 years. I used to teach him drum lessons, LOL. Here’s a video where I talk about them. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/pJmkvQAfua0/v-deo.html

      Yeah, I thought that was hilarious. But, I’m just keeping it real! And, to be fair, that is right next to a very busy highway.

    How are Prichard’s finances going? They went bankrupt some years ago. My grandfather was born in Whistler and founded the Masonic Lodge there. During my elementary school years from first grade to seventh grade we lived in Alabama. The first grade year we lived in a furnished apartment between Spring Hill and The Old Shell Road. I went to the Old Shell Road School that year, 1950-1951. We were waiting for our house out in McIntosh to be built while my dad built the Olin Chlorine Plant out there off route 43. After the sixth grade my parents sent me to UMS which at that time was military and all boys. Now it is neither. I boarded with a widow whose son was in the eleventh grade while I was in the seventh. He was the quarterback of the football team. We were members of the Mobile Country Club and my parents were Harlequins throwing toffee and serpentine from a float during Mardi Gras. Back then there was very little worry about crime and my older sister and I roamed in and out of the crowds. Mobile Marti Gras precedes that of New Orleans. So you Mobile people should not let the people from NOLA give you any grief. We also had a beach shack about two miles in from Ft. Morgan. It was a WW II Coast Guard observation shack with a screened in porch built around two sides where we slept in WW II surplus wooden bunk beds. As a ten-year old in 1955 I could go down to the beach and look left and right and see nary a soul. Out in McIntosh we had a spring fed swimming hole. We had to keep one kid on the shore to look out for water moccasins.

      Wow, those are some seriously great memories. Cool story. As for the finances, I haven’t heard an update as of late. I will check online and see what I can find. But yes, they have certainly gone through some troubles in the past.

    My girlfriend is terrified of snakes and other "creepy" critters, which is why she's hesitant to make the move to AL. Can anybody tell me how much of an issue things like that are if you're staying in a suburban area?

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  3 роки тому +2

      The biggest thing you have to worry about in the suburbs of Mobile are termites, LOL. Honestly, I've never seen a snake on my property in the last 20 years, but it does happen. Ants, a random spider, that's about it

    • @stephencarr4238
      @stephencarr4238 2 роки тому

      Snakes are very very rare in the suburbs. In the early 90s they were everywhere but honestly I've seen very very few in the last 15 years. The only nuisance here is mosquitoes, but I planted some lemon grass at my mom's years ago and she hasn't been bit since.
