The seller must decide whether to accept the guaranteed money or risk fortune or failure in the auction room. Of course, placing one's trust in a positive auction outcome is a gamble in itself! Why would you sell your uncles medals for £120, its peanuts and an insult if you ask me, when he risked his life fighting the tyranny of the Nazi's. I know that's all they are worth monetarily but surely his memory and the medals as a representation of his service are worth far more sentimentally. Boggles the mind why people do this and devalues loved ones sacrifices for the price of the weekly shop. Not only did her uncle take part in the Battle of the Atlantic he also saw service in North Africa and Italy.
