these are all pretty good interpretations and honestly i interpret these two games the same way BUT BUT BUT. ueda did say that he honestly only knows that the two games are connected and wants you to decide how they are. well the great thing about GOOD art (and i would suggest that each of these games is one half of a masterpiece) is that you can interpret it multiple ways.
You can play the 2 games in any order. It really doesn't matter one bit. They're _TECHNICALLY_ in the same universe but really they have basically nothing to do with each other. There's only literally a mere 5 seconds of the game Shadow of the Colossus that has any connection to Ico, the cut scene in the end credits where after Wander has had his body taken over by Dormin, hence the horns on his head, and Dormin (and thus Wander also) are killed by the small magical pool of water. And that's left afterwards in that pool of water, is a baby with horns on his head, as if he's a combination between the human Wander and the god Dormin. That baby, is called Ico. He grows up to eventually go through the events of the game Ico that's named after him. Then during the end credits we see the woman who you spent the entirety of Shadow of the Colossus trying to bring back to life, alive once again. And she is taking care of the baby, in the garden on the roof of the temple building (you can actually climb up to this garden in the game itself but you need a completely maxed out stamina bar to do so, which requires beating the game at least 4 times, and even then it's only barely possible for you to climb up there, but yeah). So the woman you bring back to life, becomes the mother of Ico. But yeah it's during the end credits, for literally 5 seconds, and that's it, that's the entire connection between the 2 games. So they aren't really part of the same series. One isn't the sequel of the other. They're just technically in the same universe but it's only brought up extremely briefly. Like how in the Predator and Alien films, they're technically in the same universe, because we see a trophy skull of a Xenomorph that a Predator has hunted and killed, on the wall of his trophy room in his space ship in the film Predator 2 starring Danny Glover, the name sake of the N64 game "Glover".

Technically, this track is a guy hitting some strongs on a mandolin. And while I don't like dubstep, I wouldn't go as far to say it isn't music. It's just not music I connect with. So just let the trolls be in their own bubble, and the rest of us can all go and explore life and it's endless possibilities...right?

Ico can be played before shadow, and shadow can be played before ico. they both make a story, and can prequel sequel each other.
But I thought Shadow was a prequel to Ico?
I played Shadow first which I guess is good since I know some backstory on Ico.
