I have the Roborock S7. Here's a tip with the Roborock S7 mop pad ... Soak the mopping pad with a cleaning detergent and water.. and squeeze the excess water from the pad before mopping . Then just fill the water tank with regular water (no detergent). And there you have it ... The mop pad is presoaked in detergent and should be good to go for the entire house cycle.! Works a treat
I have an interesting tip too. I have Roborock S5 Max for over a year now and I use cleaning detergent everytime. I put it into water tank with water heated up to 80°C and use 2x runs on every room. The cleaning works pretty good, the robot is not damaged in any way even after a whole year of using and no component had be replaced yet. The point is which detergent do you use I think. I use Sanytol which doesn't contain chlorine and other aggressive chemicals and I think that's the trick for safe usage with Roborock robot vacuum cleaners.

Amazon sells exact replacements from a third party much cheaper than Roborock. They must come from the same factory as they are identical. You are going to want to switch out and wash the pad after each use.
I’ve heard the “water only” is to prevent clogs of random detergents. But white vinegar won’t clog and is a key ingredient in many brand liquids. It would be interesting to see how vinegar water solution in the S7 compares with the Narwall. I’ve put Dettol and another simple detergent in my S5 Max without problems.
Ive found that some of the all-round-cleaning solution I put into my S3 would very rapidly gum up the little ceramic filter things that sit between the reservoir and the pad (good thing they are cheap and replacable). Havnt experimented with my S7 yet; if I do have any spots of concern I tend to just spray them manually and give them some time to soak; very effective and dont need to drag some funny smelling substance through my entire house. I like the smell of vinegar but im not sure what itd do to my tiles and grout in the long term. Its true the older style S3 mopping is kindof a joke; but I run it on my second floor now where its just bedrooms, and that works alright. Wont get any hard stains but dragging a wet cloth around will catch that fine static dust that refuses to get sucked up otherwise. On the first floor, with a front door, yard door, kitchen, and dinner table with two todlers, the S3 mopping isnt really worth bothering with. But I find the S7 a real lifesaver. you don't need to throw your Roborock S7 mopping pads into the wash machine after each use. They rinse out perfectly clean under the faucet and takes about 30 seconds to clean for the next run. I have the S6 MaxV and it's perfect on hard floor and tile both mopping and vacuuming.
Moping the floor with the Ecovacs T8 Ozmo Pro attachment, you have to Pause the vacuum, carry it to the other hard floors in your house, and then resume the vacuum. A bit of a hassle, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I am overall very happy with my Ecovacs T8 AIVI. 😊
We got the Narwal for Black Friday and it is amazing. Our floor is not sticky after running it and it leaves the house smelling neutral but clean. I really like the Narwal detergent. Plus the fact that we have zero carpet lol
How do you like it? We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance?
I have the Roborock and the Ecovacs and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. The Roborock does have a tiny "Sonic" portion of the mop that moves back and forth and it also will raise over the carpet but only to 4mms so if your carpet is taller, it will get wet. The Ecovacs whole pad oscillates but it's throw away pads are terrible, use the original cloth pads or T9 pads and you'll have a much better clean. Navigation, I believe is better on the Roborock having a different type of Lidar than the Ecovacs. BUT the Ecovacs has "Object Avoidance" front firing lasers which allows it to not smack your furniture, hit walls quite as hard, tangle up in cords, or run over poop like the Roborock will inevitably do. The Roborock has better suction and a newer all rubber front roller so it's a better vacuum for sure. So that's basically the pluses and minuses of the 2 vacs/mops. I must say I got the Ecovacs for less than half the price than the Roborock as they regularly go on sale and the Roborocks hardly every go on sale. I like them both. so I use them both.
I got a Roborock S6 MaxV which got such a dumb mop system you criticised. And it just mops daily and has a dirty mop each day. My floor on the other hand stays clean. So the mopping performance is excellent in my opinion. You can even let it run 3 times in a room in a criss cross pattern which will remove even dried stuff in the kitchen if you had an "accident" while cooking.
Thanks for another great video! I had been planning on just a robotic vacuum and still mopping by hand. We have about 1000 SQ ft of hardwood/tile on the main floor at the new house, with the master bath being separated by carpet. After watching this, I think we'll go with the S7 (via your affiliate link, of course) when the time comes. Thanks for mentioning the HA integration!
One mop no one talks about is the ilife w400 or new 450. They are both under $400, have a rotating bristle with a vacuum! It’s a pure mop but one of my favorite on the market. The cleaning pattern is similar to the Narwal but on the newest model it has LiDAR. This mob can actually suck up wet debris. You can place it on top of a spill and not worry about it smudging it through the rest of the clean.
Finally a mop that actually cleans itself instead of just dragging a dirty pad around your house. Why has anyone spent money or time dealing with robo mops that don't clean themselves? Who cares if they don't scrub -- they don't (and literally can't) do anything productive without self cleaning.
I love my Roborock S7. Perfect for the first floor of our 2300 square foot home. We have only wood floors on the first floor and that is where the Roborock works. The water only mopping thank is not a problem. The cheat is to dampen the mopping pads with cleaning solution or even bleach solution for when you have strong stains to work on. That solves the problem and the result is outstanding. 🙂
I heard of a new DYSON robot vacuum to be released in 2030 priced at $15,999. It will be no better than the $200 robot vacuum from Best buy but it looks new age so hence the price. LOL
I'm looking to buy a roborock s5 max. Reason is that i don't need the mopping feature to clean stains, but to maintain a already clean floor, clean. For 66m2 i think it'll do that just fine.
I don't know if its just me, but i just let the Roborock S6 Max clean the carpet as well, it doesn't leave it wet even on Max, so i don't think people should worry too much about it, i've had mine for a year ish now
Thanks as always for another great video. As you stated, things are getting better but I'd say we're still not at the point of general practicality with these products. Prices are simply too high for the compromises and shortcomings that each still exhibits.
dang, I get 2nds. I'm excited about this vid. My wife hasn't been to interested in a robot vac, but she has always said she would like a GOOD robot mop. Thanks for all the work you do and your excellent and informational videos!
S7 does not move the entire pad, only the small center section, you can clearly see it when you remove the mop cloth and look at the attachment and cloth itself. That's why you can't really see any motion from outside. Also, if S7 misidentifies a carpet, you can mark that spot as false positive and it won't identify a carpet there anymore (you can reverse it if you do get a carpet). So you can easily tell it that e.g. entire toilet etc. are no-carpet zones and you should have no problems.
As much as I'd like to have 1 device to do everything I realised that it's best if you get 2 separate ones. 1 to concentrate on the vacuuming and the other for mopping, that's if you can afford it and have the space for 2 robot bases.
Really tempted to get the Narwal T10, I have an Ecovacs N8+, and using NodeRed I coukd make the N8+ vacuum the floor, and when it reports a completed run, I could have the Narwal mop after it. Integration, still the key to a really smart home.
I dont have carpets at all and have huge space to store the aivi stuff, I also have only laminate floor and really happy with the T8 aivi after 1 year of using it.
Hi, A thorough review, but needs to add information that some are waiting for: You know how there's the Roomba S9+, then there's the Braava Jet M6? Many already choose to have separate moping and vacuuming. The problem with the Braava is that it cannot travel over thresholds. So if you DO have hard floors, the Braava is still useless, as it can't go from one room to another, unless the elevation change is ..less than a threshold is. In other tests, other dedicated, or semi-dedicated mops also failed to cross thresholds between hard floor rooms. I watched your video, hoping that you will test this and report how the Narval did, as I am thinking more and more that it will be the unit I want to use, in conjunction with the Roomba S9+.
None of these vacuums had any issue with the 1/4" thresholds in my house, and the Ecovacs and Roborock were also all able to traverse a 1/2" yoga mat without issue. The Narwal did push around the yoga mat, but it may have been able to cross it if it was secured to the ground.
the M6 can't climb because it thinks thresholds are carpets, therefore, going away from it. There is a threshold mode now, which disables the carpet detection wherever you put the virtual box at.
Well I got my self a roborock s7. Its awesome really really good. It vacuumed good and the mopping is good. I only have to mop once every second month and vacuum when needed in corners and places that's no go zone's
Thank you for this video! I've been looking at the T8 and S7 and flip flopping between them for about a month now. I've been leaning toward S7 but your video has solidified it for me!
I have bought the S5 Max November 2020, and honesty it's a great vacuum and a pretty decent mop cleaner, so this ca just be a ton better with the rubbing feature. I'd go with it too and I might since my house is on two floors.
What did you decide on? How do you like it? We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance?
@@shanew7361 I ended up with the S7. I used it without the auto empty station for a month and emptied the dust bin after each vacuum session. It's pretty simple to do and you can rinse the bin with water. Now I have the auto empty station and don't do that any longer. I still check to make sure nothing has gotten caught in the filter, which happens from time to time, but it's pretty simple. As far as long hair goes, I haven't had any issues. No problems with anything getting stuck in the roller. I really do like the mopping. You should wet the mop pad before hand, otherwise it doesn't mop as well. All in all, it's more fun than vacuuming with an upright. And in the future when our elderly cats are gone, I can put it on an automated schedule.
Thanks for this. It was a really great video. My wife and I were just looking into Robo Vacuums\Mops the other day. This really provided some good options and food for thought.
I ended up going with the t8 only because of a $600 price difference here in australia. The t8 was $1100 with auto empty but roborock was 1199 without it
I have S7 since launch, it is top performer. You should mention in your video that it can be controlled also with Siri out of the box, not only with Alexa or google home.
@@Tommeehr Gotcha, I think those are only available in the Roborock version of the app. I'm using MiHome because there is a better home assistant integration.
@@TheHookUp correct, but with S7 siri is supported out of the box and after setup you can hide roborock app and not use it. I am just saying this because from the video, apple users can think that it is not siri capable, but it is, and that is very important for some users.
This was dope. Now I regret telling my aunt the roborock s7 wasn't worth it lol I was just afraid that if they leave the mop on there for a long period of time it would make the floors dirtier and also wasn't sure if the s7 raised the mop high enough for the carpets. You should definitely review the roborock g10 when it comes out in the US (prob different name) since that works with an automatic mop pad cleaning dock

Personally my favourite is the iRobot braava (most expensive one they make) it’s good because it works in conjunction with my s9+ and I come home to a perfectly clean floor
With roborock you shouldn't put products in the water tank , but you can still spray some detergent on the mop, chances are that the detergent will run out when the mop gets saturated with dirt and you'll have change it anyway (I usually just remove it ,wash it under running water ,wring and reapply the detergent and then trow it in the dirty laundry after a full cycle) That said, it's been a bit more than a year that i'm adding an homemade detergent (one part of white vinegar, one part of distilled water, citrus peels ,rosemary, ) made by my wife to our roborock s5 maxtank with great results and no problem/breakage ,in case it's not available I add drops (2-3ml) of a mild "eco" brand detergent (no colourants or strong parfumes that require solvents , just a bit of limonene).
I bought the N8 Plus, and the empty station never empties. I end up having to manually empty every other day. I've tried cleaning and checking for clogs. Tried to tape one side of the bin shut. Nothing seems to work with this model.
I don't have carpets so Roborock S7 sounds perfect but I will stick to my Dreame D9 till it dies :D With Deebot mop attachment you can just stick a big (vacuum size) sticker on your floor and you can keep it wet like that. I do that with my Dreame.
@@TheHookUp I returned my EcoVacs T8 AIVI with the power mopping attachment to get a Braava Jet m6 I found that using 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of mopping solution reduced the streaking on our dark hard floors. The reusable / washable mopping pads are good for three larger rooms (i.e. living room) with normal traffic. I've found that the dust pads are one of the fastest ways to get up all the dog hair in the house, beating any vacuum for speed (and much quieter).
I have the Roomba S9 with the automatic emptying base and then I will also order the Narwall T10 when it will become available this Friday. Since I have two separate robots to clean my home I am sure that I will have a very clean home and I also don’t have any carpets for this reason. I had a carpet, but I removed it since I new that I would have a Narwall and I did not want to see a carpet ruin the cleaning cycle of the Narwall.
Thing is, you usually don't need to wet scrub a floor in living space unless you didn't clean it for over a year and walked on it with dirty schoes constantly... So "normal" mopping robots are still better than not mopping at all.
is it thinkable another updated review what (low cost) options for active mopping, for example bissell spinwave 2 in 1 with rotating mops, what is available etc.
I am always impressed with all your review videos. Thank you. Do you think the Narwal Freo meets your upgrade recommendation discussed in this Narwal T10's review?
Using a hand held mop is great it's exercise and you can know how clean it actually is But also I can't afford one.... And I'm 16 so it's my duty and I can't not mop the floor
How do these compare to the Roomba S9+/Braava Jet M6 combo? That Narwal one is only a little bit cheaper than the S9+/M6 combo and what I've seen of this setup has pretty much sealed the deal for me...all the automation, the "no go zones", the way they work together...they're pretty amazing. Maybe replace the M6 with one of these? Thoughts, anyone?
@@balla2828 Yup. The J7 vacuums and the M6 mops. Gotta say, I'm REALLY impressed with the results. Really does work great. Kinda handy being able to have them both doing separate jobs at the same time, too. Can't do that with a vac/mop combo.

@@TheHookUp The Braava Jet 240 has a vibrating head and both the Braava Jet 240 and M6 use a back and forth pattern which accomplishes the same goal as scrubbing. It is surprising that you didn't mention these at all considering most of the reviews I've seen rate the Braava models as the best mopping robots on the market. Additionally, needing to swap between vacuum and mopping modes means that the Narwaal has essentially the same downside as requiring a separate device.

LOL
I owned one Dyson in my life and it was the biggest pofs vacuum I ever owned.
2030😊😊😊
I'm looking to buy a roborock s5 max. Reason is that i don't need the mopping feature to clean stains, but to maintain a already clean floor, clean. For 66m2 i think it'll do that just fine.
I don't know if its just me, but i just let the Roborock S6 Max clean the carpet as well, it doesn't leave it wet even on Max, so i don't think people should worry too much about it, i've had mine for a year ish now
guys, I’ll tell you a secret.
instead of putting detergent in the water container, put it directly on the cloth. Easy and no clog issue
Oof big price tag, but in the long run might actually be worth the time saved.
the combo sale is available right now for 720 dollars and includes the auto empty base!
Yeah, the S7 can edit carpet, but the T8 cannot. I should have been more clear about that. Good to know about only the middle part moving.
As much as I'd like to have 1 device to do everything I realised that it's best if you get 2 separate ones. 1 to concentrate on the vacuuming and the other for mopping, that's if you can afford it and have the space for 2 robot bases.
Holy smokes, your content is great! Everytime, very pragmatic attitude and well thought tests of devices. Keep doing that!
This dude does video reviews on robotic mops way better than me doing my thesis
Hi,
A thorough review, but needs to add information that some are waiting for:
You know how there's the Roomba S9+, then there's the Braava Jet M6?
Excellent video. Loved the relatable tests and thorough and clear explanations. Thank you
Thank you for this video!
@@Mephmt Do you utilize the bags in the outside auto dock bin?
@@shanew7361 If you mean, do I use the bag? Yes. I wasn't aware that you could use it without the bag. Sounds messy.
Well, the roborock has a new version that have the vaccum, the cleaner and a base station that can auto clean the pad. Maybe you should test that.
Coming soon, also the deebot x1, and dreame w10.
@@TheHookUp Nice when will these videos be up?
I'm glad you said the prices in the start.
Another awesome comparison test video! Thanks Rob 👍
You forgot to include the Hobot Legee. It does 2 sweeping motions at high frequency like a real mop plus it has vacuuming all in one go !
Thank you for teaching me about the addon to my Deebot!
I am using the Narwal T10. Nice product!
I'm about to go hamm and get the Roomba J7+ just for vacuuming and Narwal for just mopping
Thanks for this. It was a really great video. My wife and I were just looking into Robo Vacuums\Mops the other day. This really provided some good options and food for thought.
I kind of love how the narwhal just runs over the carpet. It is a mop and it will mop, no question about it.
How so? I can't find any homekit info on it.
@@TheHookUp there are siri shorctcuts available in the app, you can set up them as you want, selective room cleaning, all the functions.
I love this feature when emptying the dustbin. I say Hey siri, empty the dustbin and the S6 meets me at the trashcan for dustbin maintenance.
This is such an amazing review. Very informative. Very thorough.
This was dope. Now I regret telling my aunt the roborock s7 wasn't worth it lol I was just afraid that if they leave the mop on there for a long period of time it would make the floors dirtier and also wasn't sure if the s7 raised the mop high enough for the carpets. You should definitely review the roborock g10 when it comes out in the US (prob different name) since that works with an automatic mop pad cleaning dock
fantastic comparison and I feel the same about those normal typical robots for mopping
oh can check out the ecovacs N9+ if you have the chance
I’ve had the S7 since launch, and it’s great so far.
Personally my favourite is the iRobot braava (most expensive one they make) it’s good because it works in conjunction with my s9+ and I come home to a perfectly clean floor
With roborock you shouldn't put products in the water tank , but you can still spray some detergent on the mop, chances are that the detergent will run out when the mop gets saturated with dirt and you'll have change it anyway (I usually just remove it ,wash it under running water ,wring and reapply the detergent and then trow it in the dirty laundry after a full cycle)
That said, it's been a bit more than a year that i'm adding an homemade detergent (one part of white vinegar, one part of distilled water, citrus peels ,rosemary, ) made by my wife to our roborock s5 maxtank with great results and no problem/breakage ,in case it's not available I add drops (2-3ml) of a mild "eco" brand detergent (no colourants or strong parfumes that require solvents , just a bit of limonene).
2:10 watching as the robot lifts the rug. 😂
it set it back down nicely :)
Hi. What's your thoughts about the Eufy Hybrid x8?
Lots of money for not having an auto empty base.
Fantastic experiment. Thank you for providing this.
I just wish the S7 had better object avoidance! It seems perfect in every other regard
Get the Same Max Ultra.
Get the S7 Maxv Ultra.
I think spinning mops are stupid. Looks like a car polisher. 😂
Thats not how you mop floors either.
Video idea: esphome versus tasmota versus espeasy versus, etc
I bought the N8 Plus, and the empty station never empties. I end up having to manually empty every other day. I've tried cleaning and checking for clogs. Tried to tape one side of the bin shut. Nothing seems to work with this model.
I don't have carpets so Roborock S7 sounds perfect but I will stick to my Dreame D9 till it dies :D With Deebot mop attachment you can just stick a big (vacuum size) sticker on your floor and you can keep it wet like that. I do that with my Dreame.
maybe to get good results is to get independent device for each purpose, a just moping floor robot and a vacum robot.
I am getting the Robo s7 and the narwhal, have the s7 before and then the narwhal after.
Good review, you hit some solid points. Any thoughts on Roborock vs Dreame w10?
Excellent review with detailed testing
Is the The Braava jet® m6 not good enough to make the list?
I’m real curious why he skipped that. Mine does amazing. People love to hate on iRobot but I find it’s mostly hyperbolic
I skipped it due to all the terrible reviews, do you have any personal experience with it?
@@TheHookUp Yes, I've been using it for several months. I think the robot crowd is just loud and hyperbolic. I've had zero issues and it mops great
@@TheHookUp I returned my EcoVacs T8 AIVI with the power mopping attachment to get a Braava Jet m6
I found that using 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of mopping solution reduced the streaking on our dark hard floors.
So if I live in a 550 sq ft all hardwood apartment. With rugs and one cat one dog. Should I go for the robo Rock?
Yeah that bothers me with the vacuum mops, once the cloth is dirty it just dragons dirt around
Thing is, you usually don't need to wet scrub a floor in living space unless you didn't clean it for over a year and walked on it with dirty schoes constantly... So "normal" mopping robots are still better than not mopping at all.
is it thinkable another updated review what (low cost) options for active mopping, for example bissell spinwave 2 in 1 with rotating mops, what is available etc.
ty so much for this video, im sold on just mopping myself and using a robot vacuum to help instead
I am always impressed with all your review videos. Thank you.
Do you think the Narwal Freo meets your upgrade recommendation discussed in this Narwal T10's review?
I'll be doing an updated review shortly which will include the Narwal Freo.
Thank you. I will look forward to it.
Using a hand held mop is great it's exercise and you can know how clean it actually is
But also I can't afford one.... And I'm 16 so it's my duty and I can't not mop the floor
Lol...I've totally decided against ANY Robo Mop..back to manual method! I knew it was just to good to be true.
thank you
I'd still prefer a deeper clean with the crosswave. This all seems like a waste of time for superficial cleaning.
Thoughts, anyone?
so right now you use two robots? 1 for vacuum and 1 for mopping?
@@balla2828 Yup. The J7 vacuums and the M6 mops. Gotta say, I'm REALLY impressed with the results. Really does work great. Kinda handy being able to have them both doing separate jobs at the same time, too. Can't do that with a vac/mop combo.
Do they have replaceable battery packs.? I'm not a fan of throw away.
Hi
I am an ardent follower of your channel for DIY stuff. The latest was the Venetian blind automation I did after watching the episode on your channel. Have you done an episode on “only mopping robots” like the ilife shinebot ws450? Please do one on this topic. Thanks again for the wonderful channel. 👍
I haven't, Adam's tech reviews has some good content on them though.
@@TheHookUp Thank you !!
Thank you for sharing. It was very useful.
Great review! Thanks!!
how does the Braava from iRobot compare do you think?
Braava has a few downsides:
1) No vibration/scrubbing
2) Cannot pass over thresholds
3) Also requires a separate vacuum to perform well
@@TheHookUp The Braava Jet 240 has a vibrating head and both the Braava Jet 240 and M6 use a back and forth pattern which accomplishes the same goal as scrubbing. It is surprising that you didn't mention these at all considering most of the reviews I've seen rate the Braava models as the best mopping robots on the market. Additionally, needing to swap between vacuum and mopping modes means that the Narwaal has essentially the same downside as requiring a separate device.
"Wipe the floor with the compentition.... Get it... Get it.." You're no Paul Hibbert, but I appreciate the effort :P
Not even the merest of hip thrusts at the mention of home assistant. For shame.
Haha, Paul is such an entertainer.
Excellent review!
You wouldn’t just drag a wet paper towel on the floor … OH I DEFINITELY WOULD 😂
Good vid Rob!
Hey there. Great review! I’m looking for a good mopping robot, and we barely have carpets in our house. Have you checked out the yeedi mop station and ecovacs Omni?
yep, just put out this video: ua-cam.com/video/OE0qToDBfcg/v-deo.html
Would u still choose roborock if all your floors were tile with grout lines
Hi
Thanks for the excellent video. I have seen a few ones on Robot Vacuum Garages also. Is it ok to park a robot vacuum in a garage while it is charging? Any thoughts?
Oh I think you just sold me on the narwal mop. Do you have shipping links where you get a kick back before I order on Amazon?
Excellent analysis! 👍
