We usually stay about two days before a cruise, that’s why we love to Riverside Hotel. It’s right in the Los Olas area of Fort Lauderdale. There’s lots of shops and restaurants and bars. We always have a great time when we stay there.
My former wife and I always stayed at embassy suites, we did stay at renaissance once or twice, once we got a hotel on the beach side, emerald isle and had seen better days, room wreaked of mold, and yes it was oceanfront, we forgot to consider the 3 hurricanes (2004)
We've stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th St. It's a great location, and a beautiful hotel. Their breakfast buffet is free, and it has lots of choices. All that being said, if you need special accommodations, such as a wheelchair accessible suite, I would recommend staying elsewhere. I do need wheelchair accommodations, and each time we stayed there, we were not able to get the suite we reserved, and it created a lot of inconvenience. I doubt I will be able to convince my husband to give them another try.
This is so helpful. For our recent cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, we picked our hotel specifically for their park and ride option to the port. Unfortunately on the day of the cruise, their bus was running late and it was going to put us beyond our early check-in time, so we called Uber, but it still bugs me... :)
Hi, great video and helpful, thanks. Do you recall if there are any stores etx near the Hyatt Place. I arrive warly in the day before my cruise and i doubt my room will be ready soni need somewhere to walk to and eat etc. Keep up the great work. You help a lot of people. Thank you
Hi Crystal, I usually stay at Pier 66, but the last time I stayed there it was so noisy I swore I'd never stay there again. I've also stayed at a few of the ones you mentioned. I like the Marriott Harbor Beach past the draw bridge, but it is a little more pricey. Thanks for all of the recommendations. I hope that you are enjoying your cruise. 🙂 Cathy
We always say we’re going to stay at the beach but end up not due to getting a better deal or free room elsewhere. When it’s just one night, we’re not as picky. 😉
Hi again, I just wanted to say "Congratulations" on reaching 40,000 subs!! I noticed it this morning when I was checking for new videos. That is amazing! I'll be happy to get to 1000 😉. Can't wait to hear about your cruise. Take care, Cathy
I don't know if you mentioned it but there's an Uber you can take to the cruise port also and there's also a shuttle that only cost a dollar that takes you up and down 17
Has anyone stayed at any of the Choice properties in the area? Like the Comfort Suites or a Raddison now that they bought them? My husband uses them for work so that's where most of our points are.
Just checked Holiday inn express- Not bad at $234 but Embassy is at $550 & up. I just wast a nice place to sleep as I get in 10 pm the night B4 cruise.
Sorry I hit wrong button, I will say this in her defence, she tried and I gave her that, so we went back to embassy suites, your vlog was very informative
yes i just booked for my cruise coming up in may, the prices keep going up, but since i stayed here before, i will stay here again, thanks for the information
Thanks Miss Crystal! Given that this video is 5 years old, wondering if there are any updates on good pre-cruise hotels in Ft. Lauderdale? 🙂 I really enjoy your channel.
Hi, thank you! No, not really. I just look at that area and see what's available. They are ALL extremely overpriced because of the demand. We've stayed up a little farther near the mall on Las Olas Blvd and liked that.
Yes, some of them have gotten ridiculous. We've not stayed there in a few years now. The others mentioned are usually better prices. But all overcharge because they can for the area.
I’m going to be cruising out of Fort Lauderdale what is the best hotel for me because I like to work out a lot lap pool workout area that’s pretty nice
I see you made this over 6 years ago. Do these still stand for 2025? I am hoping to find a hotel before our cruise that leaves Ft Lauderdale. But we want one that is near shops preferably a mall and restuarants. Walkable places near the hotel. Pretty sure we will be getting in early afternoon so we want to be able to do stuff.
Hi, yes, most stand but they are all hit or miss with quality I find depending on the time of year and other's reviews. Try the Los Olas area for shopping.
Have you ever been to the Bahia Mar? It’s a doubletree I think. We’re planned to stay there in April before our cruise. We have the whole day, we fly in super early from VA, so we thought we’d stay closer to the beach. Looks nice online but ya never know! :)
many of the hotels have a pick up at the airport and shuttle to the cruise port there so many hotels its hard to list them all 4 new ones on US in dainia beach which is very close to the airport and cruise port
We've stayed at the Renaissance several times, but this next cruise we're staying at the Riverside. That's where our cruise recommended we stay. It's a chartered country music cruise with Holland America. Any reviews on this hotel?
Thank you for this video! I've been wondering which pre-cruise hotel to book that's close to a drug store. You answered that right off the bat! Thanks again! 😀
The video helped a lot! Thank you so much! I am going aboard the Allure of the Seas in August and I did not know which hotel I should get that includes shuttle to the terminal.. BUT, just wanting to make sure, all the hotels you mentioned do have free shuttle, correct? Loved the tips.
Hi, be sure to check out the description box for all the details. No, not all free. And check with your hotel closer to when you leave to make sure info hasn’t changed. Enjoy your cruise!
Very helpful, I’m coming from the UK - is it a huge hassle to get from Miami airport to fort Lauderdale area ( we don’t want to hire a car ) I’m trying to decide if it is better to fly to Fort Lauderdale or Miami but think there are more flights from London to Miami
Check with your cruise line because they may offer transportation from Miami to Fort Lauderdale cruise port. You can always book a service like Super Shuttle.
Do you have any recommendation for staying near the Orlando, FL cruise port? Also, we're from New England so we often cruise from Bayonne, NJ. Do you have any recommendations for NJ also? Thanks,
Never cruised out of NJ or NYC, sorry. I used to live near Port Canaveral. It sometimes says Orlando but that’s where the airport is and about 45 minutes or more away from the port. Radisson Resort at The Port is the best location and they have shuttle service and a great pool!
Hilton fort Lauderdale marina gets my vote. Great views of Port Everglades
We usually stay about two days before a cruise, that’s why we love to Riverside Hotel. It’s right in the Los Olas area of Fort Lauderdale. There’s lots of shops and restaurants and bars. We always have a great time when we stay there.
Good to know! We may stay there next time because I’ve heard good things. 😀
We loved cruising out of Ft Lauderdale and the stay at the Renaissance is wonderful !! Hope you enjoy St Thomas, my all time favorite island to date!!
Great review. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale . Your review is really good.
Hilton Marina our favorite

Good information, thanks for sharing.
We're Marriott rewards people as well ..... we're going to be staying at the Fairfield inn on Las Olas soon.
Thanks for the info!!! We cruise in 10 days and this information is very helpful!!!

Hi, I'd probably map it to see what's around. I don't recall any shopping nearby. Only small businesses and places to eat. Enjoy your cruise!
Thanks

Just checked Holiday inn express- Not bad at $234 but Embassy is at $550 & up. I just wast a nice place to sleep as I get in 10 pm the night B4 cruise.

Thanks for doing this one. I have your list and we are pretty sure we'll go with the renaissance.
Sorry I hit wrong button, I will say this in her defence, she tried and I gave her that, so we went back to embassy suites, your vlog was very informative
If I fly into Miami I stay at the Marriott Biscayne Bay hotel, in Fort launderdale I stay at the Renaissance.
We used to stay at the Renaissance all the time but find they are so overpriced lately.
yes i just booked for my cruise coming up in may, the prices keep going up, but since i stayed here before, i will stay here again, thanks for the information

Thanks. Clear, short.
I thought there was a hotel inside the airport?
LOL @ the Holiday Inn Express being $479 CAD in October!
Anyone stayed at the Hampton Inn on 12th Ave?
I’d like for you to do one of these for Seattle for Alaska cruises.
I’ve only stayed in one hotel in Seattle since we’ve only cruise once to Alaska. I can do some research though and see if I can get one together.
MissCrystal I was thinking you guys had been on several Alaska cruises for some reason.

@@MissCrystal, the Hyatt Place now charges $8 each for the airport to hotel pick up. That's $20 after tip......I like free better
do you know which hotel used to be a Sheraton and was closed down a few years ago and remodeled ? I think it was Dania area?
Sorry, not sure about that area.

Have you gone to Alaska out of Seattle... any recommendations
Yes, this past June. We stayed at the Marriott across the street from the water. Great location within walking distance to a lot.
Do you have any recommendation for staying near the Orlando, FL cruise port? Also, we're from New England so we often cruise from Bayonne, NJ. Do you have any recommendations for NJ also? Thanks,

Yes, we’ve stayed there. I believe I mentioned that one?
