I so want to try it but first I need to know the oxalate value. Things like spinach have a very high oxalate value. People prone to kidney stones cannot have oxalates.
The de havilland Beaver is one of the safest planes ever created. Both of the planes you flew on still had its original engine configurations. Their has been less than a handful of accidents with this type of aircraft, mostly due to pilot error. They are still to this day highly sought after, even though they were only produced between 1946 to 1967, there is even talk of restarting their production. Cool video, thanks for sharing.
I think she meant because she could only give it a like/thumbs up. But she loved your assessment of how they are together so she gave it a thumbs up and 3 hearts😁
I previously lived in a neighborhood called Octoraro Lakes just south of the Pennsylvania border in maryland. 25 Mi south of Lancaster. I feel so fortunate especially for my children, that we lived there. Tubing down the creek, iceskating on the NUMEROUS ponds, and there were so many herons, egrets and bald eagles and wild turkeys and deer, the school buses had to stop for the deer! I consider myself very Fortunate!
I flew in 2018 for the first time in 30 years to finally visit a friend in Sweden. And I flew back too! I have a horrible phobia and somehow managed it via meditation, drugs and determination. I haven’t flown since and don’t really want to however I know I can. So, no, nothing on earth would have persuaded me on that sea plane 😆. Well done Emma!
Hello Beans! If you're visiting all of the National Parks, I recommend getting a National Park Passport Book in which you can collect a stamp at each park and purchase stickers for it. I've had mine for about a decade, and I still love getting a simple stamp in it! You can get stamps at sites that are national seashores, monuments, etc. - not just the main parks. It's a great souvenir for your travels! You can purchase it at the gift shop of most parks. Enjoy your adventures!!
Oh my goodness! Just looking at your pictures will make anyone who's having a bad day happy. It's obvious you must be very special, what am amazing smile. How are you doing today? Love to hear from you
Exciting! I got to fly in my first seaplane in Ketchikan Alaska when my family and I were on a cruise through Alaska! It was exhilarating! The man who piloted our plane told us that he was the mail carrier and used his seaplane everyday to deliver mail to people on islands!
Loving the adventures guys! Keep up the amazing content! RE: Your hitch-hiker, pure peppermint extract, and mothballs (if you can stand the scent). Mice and rats don't like the strong pungent scent, and this combination was what worked for me (I'm a full time RV dweller) in not only getting rid of the one I had, but in stopping any more from joining them. It's all part of RV living and van-life. Good luck!
Well, after viewing the decent accommodations, we’d actually consider visiting Isle Royal! However, we Will have to watch next Monday to see if today’s statement still holds water! Glad to see you made it to the falls and Pictured Rocks!
So enjoying your channel. Nearly over a week and loving it. The amount information you give to potential travels for others. Alex is adorable when he notices the squirril. He is like a child looking through the most delicious chocolate shop. I love the happy camper hat. Way to go looking at the solo small plan ride. The parting made me cry. You are such a lovely couple reminding us all of what life is about.
I’m so enjoying watching you travel through my state and seeing your reaction to different areas. I’ve never been to Isle Royal. This is making me want to go check it out. Can’t wait to see more of your adventures! You’re an adorable couple. Happy travels. 😊
Congrats in facing your fear Emma 👍 it’s exhilarating to overcome and face down your fears. I recently went solo to the Amazon Jungle to an Eco Lodge and was terrified I’d be sold off to the White Slave Trade, but kept telling myself as a 64 year old woman no one would be bothered with me and it turned out to be one of the best adventures of my life. Got to cuddle a sloth, saw pink dolphins, fished for pirrhana … and reluctantly, from a distance saw an anaconda in a rescue centre … so proud of myself for doing it 🤸🏿♀️🐳❤️
What a beautifully edited vlog. Each time I watch you two the more I delight in your adventures. Thank you for bringing me along. My vote - Sea plane = terrifying.
Well done Emma, amazing feeling when you complete a mission to overcome a fear. Hope you guys manage to catch the mouse (or whatever it is) soon as horrible if you hear stuff overnight as keeps you awake, good luck! All the best, David & Rachel ❤️
Great job with this video Guys. Lake Superior is a pretty place to visit. Harriet and I have been. Keep it in mind. The winter can be brutal. We love flying over the islands on the seaplane. It's a great viewthat you guys captured so well. Thank you for taking us along. Be well and Stay Safe. Harriet, Jim and Yuki.🙏🙏🙏 Richmond, Va.
I'd absolutely LOVE flying in a Seaplane! Took only 6 flying lessons in my Dad's CESSNA ( 4 seater) plane when I was 16. Then the instructor STOLE the plane & had embezzled money from the company. Ended my flying dreams of becoming like Amelie Earhart !
I flew on a ‘home made’ seaplane when I was in my teens. I kid you not, it was home made. It was a blast! I enjoyed the take off more than the landing! Now you have to add ‘helicopter’ to your bucket list. I enjoyed that more than the seaplane.
This is such a good video. I love seeing the UP. I love that you ended up in MI with a great van. You did it Emma! The trip back should not require such hysteria ❤
Terrifying! I would find a trip in a sea plane to be terrifying. The only thing I was wondering about Emma is if in that moment at the end of the video, on the couch, was Emma thinking only of the adventure in the next couple days? Or was Emma thinking of the trip back? That's what I would be struggling with: focusing my mind on the positive. Love you both! You're such a freaking delight! 🤍🤍
Hey Bean buddies, yes I am absolutely in Alex' camp.. Love the adventure! But yes I also jumped from the bridge over the Zambesi down the gorge of this river. (Yes with an elastic band attached! 125 meters down..) And had major anxiety hanging there once the yo-yoing was done!! I was so happy to be on the steady ground again!
Oh wow! I'd love to hear your thoughts during those few seconds of your fall! I've always wanted to go skydiving but I fractured my T12 into five pieces merely by falling off my deck accidentally. So I'm not so sure!
@@butchieblock9118 My thoughts were: did they really wrapped the towel tight enough around my ankles and the elastic cord nice and tight around the towel... ??? The fall down is exciting but the hanging still waiting for the guys to pull you up to the platform again (being 60 m above the river upside down..) is mental. Touring Zimbabwe and Botswana was so exciting but the jump was the cherry on the cake!! Sky diving is another thing.. I have been watching my brother do the 8 jumps necessary for the first certificate. In his group several skydivers wound up in barbwire fences and trees and bike stands and rooftops... ;-) They forgot everything they learn the moment they left the plane 😛
Loved it!! 🙌🏼 I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to take this sea plane! Adam says he would be scared but he would love to join as well! Excited to see more in next week’s episode 🥰 xx T
I love how you both are still smiling! I love a good plane ride, and I e always wanted to go in a sea plane. (My dad has his private pilots licence and a small Cessna and I’ve had to nurse my 4 month old in it when weather got bad and we had to find an alternate route through the Rockies in winter and it took longer than planned to get home. That was stressful! But oh so memorable
So possible sighting of Moose (not Mice) and did the poster show Wolves? Fantastic as my totem in life is the Wolf, so please next video find them for me. Emma your such a scary cat, you have a life preserver on and chances of ditching in the water are limited I'd say, bigger chance ditching in the trees you over flew. Never mind your there now and possibly you will be able to sleep without itchy scratching about, driving you insane!!
So glad you guys are enjoying Michigan so much! Love the love for my home state. Hubby and I took the seaplane route to Dry Tortugas Nat. Park (off Florida Keys) last year. I hate turbulence when flying too, but really enjoyed the flight there! We even saw sea turtles and sharks in the water. Such a cool experience. You guys make me want to try the plane out to Isle Royale now, never been up that far north!
Hi Emma and Alex! I'm so happy to see you enjoying our beautiful state. It's so exciting that you have gotten to Isle Royale. Emma you were very brave to go on the seaplane to the island. I hope you two have a wonderful adventure there and get to see everything you've dreamed of. Be very careful of some of the bigger critters, like moose, because they can be pretty scary, but I hear. We Love all of your adventures!
Oh my goodness! Just looking at your pictures will make anyone who's having a bad day happy. It's obvious you must be very special, what am amazing smile. How are you doing today? Love to hear from you
I'm with Alex. I'd even say that a small plane flight would be a destination in itself. Anyway... I'm really looking forward to your next video with your adventures on the island. I hope you get to see that moose, Alex!
Emma, I would have been absolutely terrified too. Thank you for fighting your fear and going through with it because it encourages me to fight my own fears too. I can't tell you how much happiness the two of you bring me when I watch your videos, I love seeing how close you guys are and your inspiringly happy demeanor in all your videos.
Awesome that Emma overcame her trepidation!! You've done some great things in the UP. I hope you were able to see the incredible dunes and enjoy a tasty pasty off camera. Looking forwarding to seeing what comes next. Hopefully some great wildlife!!
How exciting. Have been on very small planes in the Caribbean and loved it. I was actually sitting on the copilot chair and sure enough made absolutely sure that my feet were all the way back (not that I accidentally stepped on one of the foot pedals 😜). Would do a sea plane in a heart beat ..
If you’re still having a visit try chocolate. My dad swears by it on their mouse traps. He always sets them and has to deal with them if they catch anything. I think my Mum did once and was like never ever again!
So much respect for you right now Emma, overcoming your fears to continue your adventure beside Alex. I totally get how real anxiety is and you didn't let it get in your way. Enjoy x
Definitely exciting. My favorite part of flying is the take off and landing. Everything in-between is rather boring in my opinion. Hope you two have a wonderful time.
hello Beans, i did that type of flight up in canada years ago out to a cabin like you have done on this trip but we flew over an hour out in the middle of NO where. we were there for a week and had a bear knocking on the door one morning.. we had to scare the bear away. but it was sod beautiful out there... we called it no mans land. we even had a boat to use on the land that we landed on. and The World is in shock with the passing of the Queen and United Kingdom having a NEW King. R.I.P. HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Nice one guys, great vlog as usual. Re critter: Let's hope it's a mouse as opposed to a rat. Rats are highly neophobic and can be very difficult to trap, however, mice are relatively easy to trap and baiting a standard trap with a chocolate raisen, has always worked for me in the past. Good luck with it, it's no joke for sure, you have my sympathy and I hope you get success real soon. PS, If the trapping fails, get some poison bait to get the little sod, that is more or less, guaranteed to work. 😀xx
Poison bait is fine, but if the critter dies in the RV you still have to locate the corpse (or corpses if it has had babies) and remove it/them, otherwise you’re going to have to deal with the smell as it/they decompose. As I recall, didn’t you find the remains of a mouse in the late lamented Frank? And also talked about the smell? There are plenty of articles, and some videos online about how to deal with mice in RVs.
Emma I myself would find it terrifying 😳 I would have to have floaties lol! But wade said for him it would be extremely exciting 🙄 lol! Loved the video ,and can't wait to see more , oh by the way try peanut butter in the trap , works better 🙂
Flying in a sea plane would be amazing. However, it was the support and love that you have shown for each other in this experience that makes me want to venture out and explore new horizons. To have a true partner in life is priceless. Happy adventuring.
Emma! So glad you got over your phobia of flying in the seaplane. It’s not easy but glad you did it. And having just watched the Endless Adventure, they went to the same falls and Pictured Rocks you visited. The scenes are just so gorgeous. Your channels are making the UP look like a Chamber of Commerce video. Very impressive. Thanks for the wonderful content every week.
Great video! Here in the US Virgin Islands we have sea planes and ferries that connect us to St. Thomas and St. Croix. I just love the sea plane route, taking off in the harbor of St. Thomas while looking down at the cruise ships, the low altitude and the fact that it takes less than half an hour to get there. And the best thing is this....if something happens to the motor, that plane can just glide in for a landing on water and everyone is safe!! Best way to fly in my eyes (from someone that as an INTENSE fear of flying)!!
Never been on a seaplane but would definitely go to study the geology of the western flank of the Mid-Continent Rift (the Keweenaw Peninsula is the eastern flank). Glad you overcame your fear Emma. Keep plugging. You can do it. You miss so much in life by being afraid of things. Y'all are a sweet couple. Safe travels!
Beans, as a natural born citizen, welcome, and have a blast. I'm jealous because I've not been to Michigan or many places that you have been or will go. Alex, I think I will find as many squirrels and take pictures for you, just kidding. Emma, I'm proud of you for getting on the seaplane and flying by yourself but you have to fly back. I'm just going to end with I hope you make time to visit our beautiful Smoky Mountains aka Blue Ridge Parkway close to us and if you feel like venturing to the Piedmont of South Carolina we'd be glad to show you some real Southern hospitality, with our overly sweet Lexie.
Emma, I love that you're as groggy and grumpy in the morning as I am. It takes me a while to completely wake up. I'm also not a huge fan of small planes! You are not alone!
What an awesome video and experience! I grew up in the UP and have never been to Isle Royal. So glad I was able to see what it is all about, through your experience. Thank you!
Can’t beat the DeHavilland Beaver! I have been on two fly-in fishing trips here in Ontario, where the plane was so full you couldn’t get another case of beer in😂. I was a little hesitant on the first flight but when the engine was brought up to full power and it set you back in your seat I knew I was going to love it. Not bad for a plane that hasn’t been made since 1967. Koodos to Emma for tagging along.❤️
I love that you are visiting the U.S. I feel like travel UA-camrs make it feel like anywhere but the U.S. is interesting to visit when we have so much to see here. Thank you! These videos make me want to visit all of these places. I am from Utah and we have amazing National Parks here. We live in an RV full time. If you’re in Utah, we’d love to show you around. 👍🏼
You guys should plan an entire summer for the Alaskan National Parks!! We’ve done about 200 of the 420ish NPs so far and we love them! So glad to see you guys experiencing some of the best our Country has to offer!
My first time in a seaplane my wife and I were so excited. We took off from Strahan in Tasmania's south west and landed on the Franklin River in a narrow gorge between rock cliffs. It was awesome!
Emma - You are going to have to get used to the small plane rides because I am certain there are at least two National Parks in Alaska that you will need to fly into. 🙂😉 It has been really exciting to follow along with your Michigan journey because I did not realize some of those places existed (like the giant dunes and the painted rock).
Beans out...I think in your travels across our great country, will wiil find lots of great challenges and adventures that will totally awe you. Wait till you get to my native state MONTANA. So excited for you and prayers to all the people of The UK. We will miss great great women ...Queen Elizabeth
I absolutely adore sea planes ..as a small child I flew on them in the Bay of islands in the north of NZ ..I just love the water coming up over the plane when you land ..
What an amazing National Park that I didn’t even know existed in the state directly above me 🤦♀️ Thanks for sharing this … looking forward to the next video!
When I visited Isle Royale over a decade ago, I took the boat from Copper Harbor to Rock Harbor, instead of a seaplane. It was rough waters over and back, but I made it without getting sick. I take my minor victories where I can.
Emma dear, I am so on your side with that flying stuff! I am scared to death of flying in big planes, never, ever would I go on a seaplane! You are much braver than I!!!
I love flying. Absolutely love it. I’ll jump on board anything. Helicopters are my favourite. My husband,on the other hand, hates flying. He’s never been on a seaplane or small plane or even a helicopter. I’m all for the adventure of the journey. He’s like Emma. Just get him there, quickly.
At least on a seaplane, a crash landing is on water and not into a hard cliff or trees. I would really like to do this now after seeing the cabin as a Michigander. Looks great. Thanks for taking this trip. Thank you for traveling Michigan UP, Mackinaw and Silver Lake Dunes. Really complimentary for you to show one of the Mid-Wests states. You are at the top Northern area of the continental US right now. If you get the chance to do a tailgate for NFL in ....say Greenbay (Packers) WI....that might be a fun thing to do as the US goes into Football season. You have the camper van and grille.
Hi beans. My wifely and I live in a Class A motorhome and we put steel wool in all the places that a rodent can enter the vehicle and in small places they could be and that has done the trick. Good luck!!!
My family used to have reunions on Isle Royal but we took a ferry each time. We loved walking the island and canoeing around. We also picked fresh blueberries. Great memories! I didn't get a good look at your travel map but if I may make a suggestion on your way east, Ithaca NY has some amazing parks/gorges with waterfalls and beautiful trails. Its on Cayuga Lake near Cornell U.. Robert Treman State Park has some amazing falls and camp grounds, Taughannock Falls State park has an amazing waterfall with more campgrounds and there are more waterfalls around. Anyway, safe travels!!
Brilliant as always. Congratulations on overcoming your fears. The reward looks fantastic. I would love the seaplane. Have fun and keep up the mouse updates
I hated my first seaplane flight. I was terrified and nauseous. I had to keep doing it and with the help of anti nauseants I came to absolutely love it.
Do not be ashamed of being scared, Emma. Just the thought of landing on water is terrifying to me. Unnatural. But you took it like a champ! Now looking forward to seeing you guys explore this beautiful place. Btw..no commentary on the passing of the Queen. Understandable to stay on topic.
Love Sea Planes! Can't wait to see how excited he gets when you begin to discover the island. We did a sea plane in Alaska recently for the first time over the Misty Fjords. It was incredible.
Most people who make a point of visiting the national parks, don't know about Isle Royale much less visit it. And here to think, it's your first. Excellent start.
Yo Beans, EXCITING ! Welcome again to our Beautiful State of Michigan. Those of us who live South/ below the Mighty Mac are considered trolls by the locals in the UP.

We Love all of your adventures!
Oh my goodness! Just looking at your pictures will make anyone who's having a bad day happy. It's obvious you must be very special, what am amazing smile. How are you doing today? Love to hear from you
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
Crybaby
Terribly excited. Float planes, flying boats, seaplanes I love them all
Awesome that Emma overcame her trepidation!!
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
They dont land its called a controlled crash .
hello Beans, i did that type of flight up in canada years ago out to a cabin like you have done on this trip but we flew over an hour out in the middle of NO where. we were there for a week and had a bear knocking on the door one morning.. we had to scare the bear away. but it was sod beautiful out there... we called it no mans land. we even had a boat to use on the land that we landed on. and The World is in shock with the passing of the Queen and United Kingdom having a NEW King.
So nice being on the journey with the Beans. You and Endless Adventure keeps me always waiting for more. Thank you for sharing.
Emma I myself would find it terrifying 😳 I would have to have floaties lol! But wade said for him it would be extremely exciting 🙄 lol! Loved the video ,and can't wait to see more , oh by the way try peanut butter in the trap , works better 🙂
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
I loved my seaplane experience from Seattle, Washington to Victoria, Canada. Can't wait for your next video.
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
I would absolutely love it!!
I'd take a seaplane flight in a heartbeat!!
We love traveling as well! Keep up the good work ❤
Beans, as a natural born citizen, welcome, and have a blast.
National Parks are some of the best places ever! I hope you enjoy each one and all the unique experiences they offer!
Probably both terrifying AND exciting re the seaplane. Such a lovely cabin to be staying in.
I grew up in Michigan and Isle Royale has always been on my bucket list. Next summer for my 70th birthday.
You guys should plan an entire summer for the Alaskan National Parks!! We’ve done about 200 of the 420ish NPs so far and we love them! So glad to see you guys experiencing some of the best our Country has to offer!
Aww Emma the Love you have for Alex and the Love he has for you is absolutely beautiful 💛💛
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
Beans out...I think in your travels across our great country, will wiil find lots of great challenges and adventures that will totally awe you.
Wait till you get to my native state
MONTANA.
So excited for you and prayers to all the people of The UK.
We will miss great great women ...Queen Elizabeth
I’m right with you Emma! Not the bravest flyer! And then having to do it alone! So proud of you!!! You Rock!!!💕💕💕
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
Sea Plane: Exciting! 🙂
Way to walk through your fear of death, may it lessen in time! Let go, let God(ess)and enjoy the view! You both are lovely; thanks for your work.
I know I would absolutely LOVE flying in a seaplane!! What a fantastic adventure you're having!! Thanks so much for taking us along!
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
@@jefferythomas7038 Thank you! Your compliment is very much appreciated.
@@deborahallford7337 You're welcome 😊 where are you from?
When I visited Isle Royale over a decade ago, I took the boat from Copper Harbor to Rock Harbor, instead of a seaplane. It was rough waters over and back, but I made it without getting sick. I take my minor victories where I can.
Emma dear, I am so on your side with that flying stuff! I am scared to death of flying in big planes, never, ever would I go on a seaplane! You are much braver than I!!!
I’m with you Emma, I’d be terrified but my hubby would be just like Alex and LOVE it lol. I’m very proud of you for doing that! ❤
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊❤
Beans, my sincere condolences for the loss of Your Queen. I travel to the UK often and have to admit, I got a little choked up.
Glad Emma did ok on the flight. Hope you guys enjoyed the island it is a neat place. Be safe.
So happy your camper van is working so great and you're enjoying your adventures!! Great vlogs!!
Exciting!!! That is a beautiful flight to a beautiful island in a beautiful part of the country at its northern edge!!!
I love the upper peninsula, I live in Port Huron, thank you for taking us along.
Sorry Emma but a float plane trip is something I would LOVE. Thanks to your "bravery" I now have a new place to add to my bucket list.
That flight would be exciting. Look forward to see what the island offers.
