My only complaint on Xia, is I wish there were at least double the amount of tiles (vs the combined base game and EMbers). I just really like exploring.
You are going to love embers of a forsaken star, it totally redefines the game and makes the game play sooo much better. If you liked it before, this will blow your mind
Xia is a game that makes me so happy that it's so good. Such a labor of love from Cody Miller, it's the kind of independent small business with a commitment to quality that I love supporting.
Xia is our favorite game in this genre, while i like Firefly and Merchant of Venus, Xia ist just better. I wouldnt like it as much without the expansion though. And: The blue things are ice comets, they do need those extra plastic stands.
I would say that Embers is my favourite board game expansion of all time. So much good stuff in such a small package. Haven’t played the solo game though.
Xia is one of my top 3 games of all time. It is so much fun and a fantastic story/world builder. I also love how it is clearly designed in a way that the designer wanted without reference to wider design trends. It has an innocence combined with great success that is rarely found elsewhere.
Absolutely love Xia (another I need to get back to the table!) - plays so great solo and, for me, has a genuine sense of natural "story telling" as random events occur and NPC start doing their own thing as you try and focus on shelving missions, exploring space, trading for much needed upgrades to earn your game in the galaxy! So incredibly well done and, I'll be honest, the reason Arydia was an insta-back for me 🤗❤️
My group loves Firefly, but I jumped at the chance to add this in the Arydia pledge manager. Heard so much good about, can't wait to play it with my friends.
My GF asserts that the Ember mug is the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten for her... Even better than the giant Cthulhu from CDMD that was under the tree for her this year... 😎
I added all of the Xia content in the Arydia pledge manager. I'm really glad they added it in there! By the way, does anyone have any experience with the Xia DLC on Tabletop Simulator? Just wondering if I could use it to hold me over until Xia gets delivered
I sold off Firefly (pick up and deliver) game but I later bought and loved the other Firefly game (the miniatures one). I own and really like Wasteland Express. Zia has been on my wish list since forever, I just never pulled the trigger. As for M&M, it looks like my kind of game but I’ve decided to wait for a newer edition if it ever comes out.
Xia is a great sandbox game. I got the Meeple Realty wooden insert to make set up and tear down easier. Would you consider getting the Sellsword ship expansion?
The economy board is the whole reason, after the solo rules, to get Embers. Massive change to the game and can drive or inhibit trading by limiting how much product is in the market. Just go with all of the expansion material when you play next, small rules additions, big boost in experience.
Agreed. Trading might rarely be too easy, but depending on how the tiles come out, pre-embers it could be game-breakingly easy. The economy board doesn't stop trading being a viable strategy, but it specifically limits the benefits of an easy route coming out by chance.
12:20 When you tried to focus on the coins, your camera's focusing ability was being compromised by certain otherwordly alloys contained within that alien currency...👽(just a theory).
Speaking on the coffee mug temps 140 might be too high. There has been research done stating that people who drink hot drinks at 140f or higher everyday have a high chance of getting esophageal cancer. Just something to look into.
I’ve had this game for a year now, and have yet to get it to the table. Love to know if your experience with the expansions changes how you feel about the game overall.
We like the game, but sadly it is difficult for us to get it to the table. Since the game is quite long, especially if you play the longest version of the game. Starting with upgraded ships helps speed things up, but getting to the largest ships from scratch will take several hours. I would play the long game but most of the group do not want to play that many hours :(
I'm not sure this one really warrants sleeving, though I think I did so out of habit. Shuffling is rare and even a badly marked mission card would offer little practical advantage to players. Sleeving much more reasonable for games where cards are frequently shuffled e.g. games with deck-building incorporated into them - for them the wear is greater, plus for those that might use this to their advantage, knowing what the next card is can be useful.
@@BoardGameCo Listen to the creator Cody Miller. You can also listen to Roy Cannaday, who is like the self- proclaimed biggest fan, and worked with Cody on consolation for the Embers expansion. I’m just messing with you, it doesn’t matter…but it really does. But it doesn’t 😁, but you should really say it right. Just kidding 😅….not 😜

Just played my first 2 multiplayer games (2 player) of Xia and had a really awesome experience! So much fun!
Amazing game, and the Embers expansion makes it even better. Great pickup 👍
I had added Xia plus all to my Arydia pledge. Looking forward to trying it and happy that it does have a well regarded solo mode now.

Finally got a copy and excited to get it to the table.
Such a good game, not my normal 'go-to' but love the designer .... and this game, and this video. Trifecta!
Probably my favorite game I've played so far.
Xia is life! Just a wonderful open ended sandbox game. It's like playing with toys with rules included.

Xia is my favorite game of all time! Embers is required for sure
My group loves Firefly, but I jumped at the chance to add this in the Arydia pledge manager. Heard so much good about, can't wait to play it with my friends.
Get the folded space insert. Fits everything in main box. Helps set up aswell
Hearing you call your camera a 'jerk face' was entertainment enough for a thumbs up from me. 😂

Love this game. Its in my top 3 games.

I had chosen not to add that… then saw this video and these comments and just did. Lol
@@bryanyoung9966 Nice! I just wish I didn't have to wait as long as Arydia for it...
I 3D printed an insert for this and its such a nice addition
they also give you the STL files for all the ships. I have to paint them now

Luckily coffee doesn't last long enough in my mug to get cold.
Lol fair...I like to nurse it.
a few insert options - folded space, smonex and iirc meeple realty, along with a few 3d print designs
Xia is a great sandbox game. I got the Meeple Realty wooden insert to make set up and tear down easier. Would you consider getting the Sellsword ship expansion?
How did you got all that? :O ... Im waiting for reprint :D :/ ... looks interesting, I cant wait to try it out

This one is on my list of "really really want to have, but wil probably (almost) never play"
You are missing the sellsword expansion which adds an extra npc ship. Not essential but fun! Worth it if your a completionist
I can be a completionist....at times :)
So cool 😎
:)
Nice looking game thanks 😊
How would you compare this to merchants of Venus?
Merchants feels more on rails. But also I haven't played merchant's in a really long time

Thanks! But I believe that's been disproven.

Looks like a cool game.
It is :)
Will the group or solo playthrough be filmed? I'm considering buying Xia.
New printing soon?

Alex awkwardly moaning at 5:39 (sorry had to)
the 20 rule is limited to once per turn, so it's not as often as to be truly unfair

Colored metal coins... Viticulture?
Hmmm...were the Viticulture coins first?
Boba Fett ship - Slave 1
:) thanks!
Is this game in print anymore?
Yes
For pick up and deliver nothing tops Firefly
Zi-uh. Zy-uh. He pronounces all his games in the KS videos
Thanks :)
Just an obscure FYI-
When 'Xia' is a Chinese proper 1st name it's pronounced like "She".
I'm sure outside of that, it's, whatever.
I'm surprised you like Xia so much. I figured it was too undirected / open worldish for your tastes. It's one of my top space games.
We just sent a probe into our sun and it didn’t go “boom”…
Oh, that sounds like a mistake. Probes definitely go boom in the sun.
I never sleeve my games. Maybe I should.

Xia rhymes with maya or messiah
Thanks :)
Z - EYE - a!!! Xia is pronounced ZIa. Now that you have the game, you have to say it right. 😜
I keep hearing different things from different people....

Watch the KS videos. It's a long I sound.
XIA needs second edition where art gets overhauled.
Really? You didn't name this video "Xia: I used to own this game before it was cool" or something along those lines? :)
