In the middle of summer, two friend groups meet, one of Finn Francis , the other of Rorey Roberts. Rorey is only in town for a month, but during that short time, Finn & her connect in ways that will live nostalgic, forever in their memories; wrapped up in the reckless adventure of Summer. Finn & Rorey get close, but as the weeks come to an end, Rorey flies home, & they are left with the bittersweet end of Summer’s romance.

I used to hate summer, it always meant more work and lonely times, especially for someone without many friends. Last year I worked on my mental health a lot and realized the reason I hated this season is because I hated myself. But this year I got a new job, made a lot of new friends and even started a new relationship, this song captures everything good I've felt about summer this year and that makes me really happy. I think this is what everyone wants, but few can attain. Everyone wants friends to endlessly experience the joys of life but in an age of heightened fears, this keeps seeming more and more like a distant dream than an achievable reality. To those living in summerland, kudos to you. And also, how do I get there?
you don't reality is a shit show! you just will end up making memories you'll never knew were going to be important. And 25 years later you'll says to yourself god damn i can't get that back and yet you'll remember so much. And wish you could go back because it was better then because there was no Facebook no social media no political outrage around every corner and of course you were younger. But what do i know 🤔

You might never get there, but my advice is don’t let it get in your way when it comes to living your life and making memories.
I recently had an experience close to summerland (except it’s winter down here) and though I had a fun time with my friends it wasn’t even close to what my mind had idealized. So I guess life will never be what we want it to be, but this unachievable reality shouldn’t stop us from being thankful for where we are and who we’re with

fivels laugh throughout the video makes this even better than it already is 😍😍😍
I just figured out that the whole video is a loop, at the beginning Josh watches Fivel leave at the airport and then at the end Josh watches Fivel leave again, so does this mean that he is stuck in summer land and that the song is metaphor for being in a dark place and instead of getting help, they just decide focus on the good parts and that's all they do, but deep down inside they not ok, because at the end and beginning Josh looks worried
I don't think he's "stuck" in a dark place, but the reality is that we go through happy and hard seasons. "Whatever ain't golden will always come back around" and "something about May makes it all feel better" show that to me🤗 great eye noticing the loop!! Gives it more meaning

To me, the loop is more like wanting to replay these moments again and again in your head because they are happy memories. They make you nostalgic, remind you of times more free, where possibilities were endless, but Summer will end and so too will this Summer romance. Josh is reminded of that by Fivel's friend in the dishwashing scene and his face in the beginning/end conveys he knows it's the end now too. This Summer will now be nothing more than a happy memory. It's bittersweet, but such is the fleetingness of Summer.
maybe going a little deep there. just seems like the whole video takes place in that moment she leaves. and all he's doing is remembering the great summer they had together.
Considering the vibe of the song, I personally don't think the video is supposed be that deep and/or dark. In fact, I think it's the total opposite-- Josh is singing about the joy and comfort he feels whenever summer rolls around. The video looping could either be just a stylistic choice, or him thinking about all the fun they had. Also, rather than being worried, I think Josh is just sad to see her go at the start and end.

The most unbelievable thing about this whole (very well done video) is that these people have friends at their age who are actually available to go on (what appears to be) MULTIPLE different road trips. I can barely get by with a day or two of vacation at a time let alone plan elaborate week long getaways with multiple individuals of exactly corresponding days off.

I became a fan of Half Alive just last year. Their music really helped uplift me during such a difficult time. This video and the song is the epitome of joy. Thank you for this video it was absolutely beautiful and to the band this is one killer song!

I just saw them in Chicago just a few days ago and they were AMAZING. When this song played, the crowd lost it and the energy was beyond words. The release of positivity blew me away as the crowd just celebrated life. Thanks to Half Alive for putting a show that made us all feel ALIVE!

This video just broke my heart but I also loved it so so much. It captures very very strong feelings and emotions that I’ve experienced before and that I long for again. This video, just like every other half alive video is perfection. I’ve admired josh ever since the first time I set eyes on a half alive video in 2019 and wish I could have him or someone like him in my life.
