    I don't think that this could have been done any better. Precise information that is presented with skill. Thank you for your work on this.

    Thank you for this. I just upgraded to the A9iii (from a Canon 90D). I mainly do sports photography of competitive firearms sports (most of my work is on my Flickr page “same name as my UA-cam channel”) and this camera is going to do amazing in that venue. For the last year I have been venturing into studio/on-location shooting with off-camera flash. I currently have three Flashpoint (Godox) lights (600pro, 400pro, and 300pro) and I have been doing some testing of these lights with the sync adjustments in the camera (starting at 1/256 power on the lights) and seeing where I need the sync adjustments to be set as I climb up the shutter speeds to either beat the sun or under-expose the background (which I did set the quick “C” button on the top left of the camera like you detailed in your other video about your A9iii setup). Have you done a spreadsheet or anything similar testing Flashpoint (Godox) lights and where our flash sync settings need to be at the different power levels and shutter speeds? Thank you again for the videos.

    Still one of the best videos regarding GS and flash use I came across. I would love to see the actual flash power setting on a Global shutter camera that matches the HSS output at max setting (1/1). I suspect if the end of the plateau output is at 1/4 power and it’s 3-stop brighter, then you just need to set the flash at 1/32, a huge power save. Also because the nature of GS is to receive only a slice of the total output, having a faster flash duration at max power might be beneficial.

      @JasonVinson183  4 місяці тому

      The issue is that as you go down in power, you may get a faster flash duration, but so long as the shutter speed is faster then the flash duration, the only thing that matters is the peak of the flash curve. So going down in power could lower the peak at different ratios then simply dialing back the power a half stop.

    Great explanation Jason. Many people are getting really confused.
    I also find this useful for party photos when the DJ lights are too strong. So I can use a faster shutter speed to kill that ambient light and use my flashes to have some nice lighting.

      Definitely! I find that traditional sync speeds are enough to get past DJ lights, but it can definitely come in handy for certain situations!

    Awesome video, perfectly explained.
    Question, Which flash has more power, the Godox AD 1200 Pro, or the Elinchrom ELB 500 TTL and wichone you prefer?

    • @Deatarus51
      @Deatarus51 5 місяців тому

      Look at the numbers in both. They represent the power in watts, the answer is painfully obvious.

    • @JasonVinson183
      @JasonVinson183  5 місяців тому

      @@Deatarus51 while the numbers do signify how much capacity a light has, this does not always translate to equivalent output. Some lights are more efficient, giving them more output then other lights with a similar capacity. But yes, the 1200 does have more output then then 500TTL. But some lights have efficiently that gets them a full stop more output then equivalent lights, so it's possible to have an efficient 500ws light perform better or simular to a 1000ws light that is not as efficient.

      Of all the comparisons I have come across, only the one from Rob Hall with the reverse mounting deep parabolic softbox would almost put all the lights on a similar playing field. The entire output will be forced to bounce around and get even out the front diffuser. And from his tests, only the Broncolor Siros 800L appears to be noticeably more efficient than a Godo, 1 stop more than an AD600 (AD1200 equivalence). Any other testing methods with the strobes pointing directly at the light meter would skew the result more towards the bulb and back plate designs. Case in point, an AD200 fresnel head with the Godox RFT-19 would meter the same at the center as the AD600 using the same reflector. Most people ignore the light spread pattern and light distribution within the spread when doing the comparison.

    пробовал на ad200 с насадкой r200 и есть одна большая проблема, r200 не поддерживает HSS, а в обычном режиме не стыкуется с синхроимпульсом, соответственно получаем абсолютно черные кадры на выдержках от 1/750 и короче (настройка времени вспышки не помогает, если что), имейте ввиду если надумаете себе такое взять. С родной головой проблем никаких всё как часики..

    • @JasonVinson183
      @JasonVinson183  5 місяців тому

      I dont have the R200, but you should still be able to sync with global shutter at any shutter speed no mater what. The timing setting will be different though compared to the AD200 with a regular head. the lack of HSS on the R200 will not effect the results with a global shutter.
