My grandson will be going to SOU in Ashland. We visited it June 11. It is so beautiful. We are from Albuquerque NM. It was amazing seeing deer on campus and through out town. Had deer hanging out at our hotel. Then took drive in neighborhoods. Saw wild turkeys walking in neighborhood. The park was amazing. My grandson is so excited about the college and town. Loved it. Can't wait to visit him in Ashland.
Ashland is a very beautiful town! I lived there for 30 years plus! Though recently I needed a change in environment and moved to the Mt Shasta area, which is a much more laied back style of life for me, which I prefer. In my opinion if you choose to move to Southern Oregon Ashland is probably the best choice, well if you can afford it and can handle all the tourists lol? If you want very amazing mountain landscape, move to the Mt Shasta area. Ashland is 1 hour drive to the north and Redding CA is one hour to the south.
This is so helpful! We want to relocate and move north from Ventura County... and Ashland is one of two places we are investigating. We are planning to visit soon, and this video is definitely tipping the scale towards Ashland. Maybe we'll see you soon!
We visited Ashland last weekend & liked it a lot. We would live there EXCEPT, I have heard it gets blistering hot there in the summer. So, We will remain living in the coast and visit now & again. !
It can get hot, but that's what's nice about the proximity to the mountains and the coast. If the forecast is more than you can handle, it's easy to take a quick trip to the coast and get out of the heat. The coast has significantly more rain, which is a pretty big turnoff to a lot of people.
Hello, my family and I are considering moving to Ashland from Ventura, CA (So Cal). We own 2 properties here currently. We may rent in Ashland first to see how it is before committing or sell one of our places and buy in Ashland, or take a loan against ine of our properties and buy a 3rd in Ashland. My question is smoke...how bad is it? Some reviews dont mention it at all, others say its bad for weeks in the Summers. Everything else seems awesome from reviews!
Thank you for watching and for reaching out! Currently, the smoke is pretty rough in most of Southern Oregon, but a week or so ago and the entire summer it was non existent. It very much depends on the fire locations and wind direction. Most locals agree this has been a very mild year for smoke, but there have been days that have been pretty bad. If you'd like, I'd be happy to get on a call and explain this all a little further. My direct number is 541-954-7758. Give me a shout when you're free or send me a text and we can setup a time to chat.
Small world, I grew up and lived in Ventura 805 until 1972, now in Sedona, AZ and considering Ashland area also. I sure like what Brian is doing with his videos, best of luck to you!
Born in Ojai here... Love southern oregon, haaaaaate the smoke.. It can take most of the summer and start of fall. We try to spend summer elsewhere like the coast... Until it also catches fire. Oregon is California's chimney and California is always burning these days.
Just know if you move here you're going to have a lovely time finding housing. If you're looking to do anything after 8:00 keep looking 😅. Source I live here

Ashland is a great town for sure! Whether it's "the best" or not I think really depends on what people are looking for.

@@BuyingSouthernOregon You would need a lot more than a "quick trip" to avoid much of the summer! 😂🤣😃

REALLY? We are in Camarillo and also looking to possibly move to Ashland later this year. Wow!
Smoke can always be an issue, in So. Oregon, during the summer. Some years horrendous, other times not to bad. It is a risk, if you want to live here.
Oberon's is the Ashlandiest restaurant in Ashland :-)
🤣💯

Terrain looks like Sonoma County.
They have a Taxes on fast food, they repackage the food at stores, no Styrofoam, it's a College town 😮
seems reasonable
Yes, it is a very liberal town.
That winery is not dog friendly, even on the large patio, we don’t go there. No shade to speak of so one can’t leave doggos in the car.
Stay away if your under 40
