@@weightycarlos Yeah, they figured that instead of improving a lot of characters movesets, it would be easier to make a random protagonist and put some extra moves in him, while you could still use a very limited number of the old officers wich probably wouldnt have very updated movesets, probably the same as DW9. Its like they found how to make it the cheaper way and its very dissapointing. It feels like the DW franchise doesnt have any direction right now, since DW8 it has gotten worse and worse.
I wouldn't mind weak peons as long as the stronger versions like lieutenants, guard captains etc are meaningfully more capable in combat. They need to be more than just trash with a higher HP pool.
Okay, no one said it, I will. Bring back the "I AM THE TRUE WARRIOR OF THE THREE KINGDOMS!" after killing 1k enemies. And please make the troops very skilled and agressive when morale is high, and vice versa, I love that system. Bring back the duel system, I love the one from dw6, very adrenaline pumping! And bring mobile unit captain back, make em stronger, love those guys 🤣
We need a warriors game where 500 kills feels like ALOT. It’s crazy how I am already getting 3000 kills on level 1. It takes the gratitude of getting that 1 in 100 games where you go HAM for 1K+ kills, where I don’t get that 4 digit number unless it’s been a true epic to get there
I really want this game to be a mix of 6 and 4, with more story elements and a refined combat/battle system. Massive battles and thousands of units onscreen is awesome but wont mean much if we end up with braindead ai. If the main story is all about the created character but with the ability to play from the perspective of any other character, i think that will be a great way of having a concise, replayable story, without losing out on free mode. multiple narratives, unique stages for some characters and having stages change depending on the outcomes of previous battles aswell as which character you are playing as, would be a super fun addition to the game.
@@ChaolaoFueChi I don' know much about 7, played for an hour or two and then traded the game in, just remember there was no free mode and the campaign was totally different from what i had played before.
@mickieg1994 It's all good, it was more of a unfinished and just another experiment of a Gane that didn't even finish It's storytelling, 8 was just an upgrade but at the same time not much changed but was polished if anything.
@mickieg1994 I'd recommend checking the cutscenes out for the ones I mentioned. It's good. Gave me the chills and made me question why they haven't they actually polish the storytelling in most of the games.
The idea of a battle pass in DW sounds even worse than the current DLC model imo. At least with the DLC I don't feel pressured to log in every day with for fear of missing out on the battle pass rewards, and can instead play on my own time
No offense, but this looks like a big concept of a game, but the problem is that it's Koei/Omega force, and they love to half-ass anything they do so the bigger the game the bigger the half-assery.
I'm unsure how true they have ass the bigger games, but they have been so far. Since their working under other many, like too many games to make. Like, Fire Emblem Warriors came, then Hyrule Warriors, Warriors Orochi, etc. Maybe that's why they changed to Omega-Force instead of Koei-Techmo?
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games also haven’t really shaped up the way I wanted them to. Ten had a whole bunch of RPG elements that I really liked but the next one seemed to completely get rid of that. I also really liked Kessen 3 and Bladestorm: Hundred Years War, I’d like more games like those from Koei.
No one is as critical of Dynasty Warriors as Dynasty Warriors fans. As we tend to know the series the best and im glad not everyone is blindly excited but cautious of DWO. The thing is this could be W-Force (The devs of The DW games) chance of redemption. Tecmo Koei has plenty of devs underneath them who pulled some great stunts like Nioh. So as a company they put more resources where its worth it. If W-Force fudges this one up they lose a lot of faith as 9 seemed to be the breaking point as is and 9 empires didnt make it better. The ball is in their court blow us away and see if you can garner that lost faith again W-Force. That aside we gotta get the first person who appears alphabetically on every Dynasty Warriors. Raise the spears for my guy AHUI NAN! He deserves to be brought as a unique dude! Btw the Dong Zhuo steamy relationship is needed maybe we can take him to the good side Overall dude was nice listening to some hot takes I read on the post as well and get your thoughts will be interesting for sure
I think criticism is a sign of a pretty passionate audience in this case which is a great thing. Generally it seems like the consensus is cautious optimism, but it’s also totally fair if people are burnt out by this point. You hit the nail on the head 😁 they’ve whipped up great games like Nioh before, hopefully they’ll do it again with Origins 🤞🏼

we need the likes of Liao Hua on each kingdom, who narrates the story of the kingdom from the start to an end, Liao Hua could become the narrator for Shu stories as he's the one who see Shu from when they are born, into their demise, for wu, it can be Lu Xun or a brand new character, for wei, you can took the point of view of Sima Yi or Cao Shuang

I want there to be multiple storylines that allows replayability. Depending on what decisions we choose, we become the stratigist of shu for example. Taking over zhuge liang's spot is the best stratigist. Zhuge liang then has a different backstory since his canon story of being the stratigist is no longer. Instead of a Defeat screen, let us become captured, where we have to now work with the enemy and our commander/forces are sending messages trying to get us back. Allow us to be the one to rescue liu shan instead of zhao yun thus allowing zhao yun to be placed in a different province at the time and allowing shu to fight off against the enemy thanks to us being the one going back to save liu shan. Allow us to be the reinforcments for guan yu at fan castle where we either do or dont make it in time before his death.(They kinda did this what if with Xing Cai in DW5XL but i think it'll be cool to expand on) Somethings like that to change the story we once knew I think would be cool.
TBH for me losing splitscreen would be a deal killer for me. It's what kept me off of so many side games(IE Pirate warriors, berserk and the band of the hawk, etc.) before, and its half of what kept me from bothering with 9(other half being that it sucks.) for me, musou games are something i play with my brother or close friends while we're chilling out. If they're dropping local co-op then the game basically has to be better than the best entries in the series for me to even consider caring.
Honestly, having played since 3. The one thing that stills appeals to me for DW is the Empires, I even played DW9:Empires without having touched the main game. If I were to speculate I would bet that while DW9 was poorly executed, the idea of an open world wasn't terrible but maybe they need to make it a bit more sandbox, so if they were to opt for the freedom of a caw and working with that as their blank slate, they could make a more unique DW story with it being more choice driven by the player rather then playing out pre-determined goal set scenarios, so that's where the idea of Empires would fit in quite nicely imo. My idea is still pretty bare bones but a main DW game with a Caw as your character with the semblance of freedom of choice with the Empires aspect would definitely appeal to me, also I just want my Holy Avenger back man.
My prediction is that DW:O will likely merge aspects of DW and DWE. We'll likely get to play as our CAW and interact with the cast, marry our waifus, etc etc. But it'll follow the gameplay/story of a normal DW title, maybe with extra branching, what-if's or additional scenarios depending on what happens.
DW3 was my first Warriors game back in the PS2 era and I've been a fan ever since until DW7 where I noticed they were starting to cut corners and the drop in quality. People were very critical of 6 back when it was released but it's still one of my favorite Warriors game (sue me), the graphics were great going from PS2 to PS3, the story was amazing with it's what if scenario, harder difficulties was actually challenging and not in a unfair way, controls were tight and combat was as amazing as DW5 if not better, VAs were great and the music were amazing. All I'm saying is DW6 had soul despite how critical the fan base was. DW dropped the ball for me where characters starts to feel like clones of each other when they're using the same weapons. DW8 might be the best modern DW game but I still felt the same issues it had with DW7. DW8 despite some of it's flaws, it's still one of my favorite DW game and I would place it in my top 5 DW games. I thought we might be back on track with 8 Xtreme Legends but then we get something like 9. I don't think we need to talk about DW9, we all know how that game turned out. 9 was the game that made me lose faith in the franchise as a whole. DWO gave me a glimmer of hope because I truly think this is what the series desperately needs, a reset button. I know people wants the series to go back to it's roots, be able to play as our favorite characters we know and love over the years and I do too. But listen, I'm a very simple man with very simple wishes. Here's what I want from DWO, if we're only gonna play as our CaW character then give them a proper personality with fully voice acted lines. If we get a silent protagonist, I'm instantly out. Let us choose factions to join and whichever faction we join will impact the outcome/story. Let our CaW character interact with characters from pervious games in meaningful ways. Give us Co-Op multiplayer and PvP where players control their own armies trying to take control over enemy territories. And if the combat plays just as good as it looks then I'm sold. Personally I don't mind if we don't get to play as historical figures, we can keep those for numbered titles like DW10 for example. And please for the love of god hire better VAs for the game.
personally i would love for the morale system from 3-5 to come back. it made taking out troops worthwhile. morale in 8 was pointless since the enemy could have no generals left but high morale bc of the never ending troops. bring back gate captains as well I just wanna see Guan yu's fictional children cut from the game as well. idc about them. i want characters that matter.
I'm torn with you on the first comment. It's ALL going to depend on execution. Seeing the heroes play out through the eyes of an outsider could be pretty fun for some fictional story options. But if they don't do it well, it could easily be one of the worst experiences in the franchise. At least they're taking creative risks. Doing SOMETHING. These games could be some of the best in the business if they put more effort into them. Not just for their hard-core fans like us.
This might be a hot take, but I really want to have different characters that I can play as, not only the "nameless" hero. Also, unique weapons and move set for everyone. Not the recycled weapons and move set that we got in recent titles. I really enjoyed DW8 for example and the combat system was great, DW9 had a great potential too, but the action in that game was really terrible you would have to waste so much time just to actually be involved in a battlefield and the battles were not even challenging.
I just want all the weapons koie ever made and their charge attacks. Give us back old Gan Ning! Give us back the body guard system. Give us better mounts. Give us more items. Let us hold more than 2 weapons. Make the ai actually fight…. Like some generals you will have to avoid till you are leveled up. Or just take a page out of hell divers and deep rock when it comes to swarm combat. Also I really miss my orbs from dw3 and dw4 😢.
I do miss the old weapons. They've maybe the same styles, mostly the spears, swords, and pikes. Like, Cao Cao, Liu Bei or Sun Jian having a single sword stance but different battle forms in attacking, Cao Cao l, Liu Bei, and Zhou Yu was my favorite sword users, Ma Chao and Zhou Yun were the best spear users, especially the basic generic officers styles. But I've git to say, DW6 visual actually had more background lighting and other stuff compared to the sort of bland colorings so far, DW9 playable officers had amazing and nearly true Chinese outfits, aside from DWE9... had enough with the outfit creation, the coloring system was pretty much more optional than Wo Long, or Ronin has.

I know it sounds small. But I loved that customization of your own character it made you feel more valuable when you beat people to a punch. Or heroes were astounded by who defeated ma Chao or lu bu. Not to mention having custom bodyguards that leveled with you and grew in appearance and strength that you could name. That was awesome.
Just to add to the new character idea, I would love to see King Shamoke be a character just for the simple reason that he kills Gan Ning and Zhou Tai basically goes on a personal revenge mission to kill him. Its nothing major but its something i think could add to both characters personalities outside of Gan Ning being an overpowered badass with bells and Zhou Tai being a personal shield for Sun Quan. Also to take a little creative liberties and show Gan Ning and Zhou Tai joining Wu from being pirates would be nice as well. Also got favorites from all factions Zhou Tai would be from Wu Gan Ning doesn't make the list only because he doesn't have his Sword from Dynasty Warriors 4. Favorite weapon for him to this day.
I've been waiting for a new dynasty warriors game. I NEED a mode where thousands of enemies hunt me down. So I don't have to go find them to kill them. I just want a survival type mode
I always theorized that a game like Dynasty Warriors Origins would come out, and I always thought that instead of just a custom character, you would also follow around one of the longest lived characters in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" like Liao Hua. Also, I know that I'm having a little tangent, but it would be interesting if Koei Tecmo would focus more on the Chu-Han Contention and have it tie to Dynasty Warriors in some way. For example, Liu Bang and Xiahou Ying having a strange, complicated friendship, alluding to the fact that they were the ancestors of Liu Bei and Cao Cao respectively.

Enemy intelligence was ok in Arslan Warriors, they attacked me in the middle of my combo and managed to interrupt my attack. No free mode already pisses me off, sadly
We don't know, people love just saying stuff as if it was a fact. Origins feels like Three Hopes, and that game didn't have a Free Mode, but you could select any mission from any route from a list, so Free Mode but inside Story mode.
As long we can play RPG mode like expanded ver of DW5 destiny mode with custom character, I will be safistied. My wishlist to play DW but have heavy RoTK PRG element in it.
I definitely like the older DW where you can play as either a unique or caw however if the Origins only has the nameless hero as playable I could accept that IF the story is highly fleshed out and is long and allows a certain amount of player freedom. Also I wouldn't mind having some form of a survival mode when you just want to mindlessly slaughter but it would need decent-ish enemy AI and be objective based per stage. I would still rather have a large playable roster but I don't think that will be the case...
I only go back to DW6 that was my official entry into the franchise! And I’ve loved it sense then! I couldn’t be more excited for origins! So far this looks exactly like what I’ve been wanting!
Honestly I'd be so down for a full Warriors game in the style of Destiny mode. Having the main "story" mode focus on the CAW character and then a free mode where you could play as all the other officers would be the best of both worlds IMO! I wouldn't mind If they added some new characters too - Liao Hua, Lady Bian, Wen Ping and Wu Guotai would be cool to see!
I'm kinda hyped for this game, I just wish that we get a full package, give us everything we had in prior games and let us play all the characters and were good
7:30 When it comes to new characters personally what I want to see the most are Wen Chou and Yan Liang, Yuan Shao's top 2 Generals that where slain by Guan Yu. Although I too would also love to see Zhang Jiao's brothers added to the game.
No that CAW is someone in the roster that we know. Even the dev said it's a guy that we will recognize as we progress through the game, they age as the game progresses.
I feel like Origins is going to skip Jin. We has yet to get Wu side of the Jin campaign and Ding Feng is pretty much the only character that is alive during that time. Unless they extended Wu campaign before the Jin campaign to match the length of the other campaigns or add more unique characters for WU during that time, I don't see them doing Jin.
I feel like DW crippled themselves by having so many characters, weapons, modes, and combat systems in the previous games. They do not take out characters (minus 6) and they try to add with every installment. With this new one, I think they did not want to add a new character/s, give everyone unique weapons and stories, and add a system of gameplay. They had a very big order to fill with this game based on how they’ve upgraded in the past so I am very anxious to see what they give us… they clearly fumbled dw9 in a few areas and it doesn’t look like they listened to what the classic players wanted so we’ll see

Wu and Wei are somewhat different yet easy to do in Destiny Mode, Shu on the other hand... dear lord! Why's it so hard! Especially Zhou Yun's, it has more stages too.... pain.

I don't mind peons being braindead but I really hope atleast notable officers take some level of skill to beat and not just mashing square and mousou to win
The only thing I could think of from the trailer was "oh this is samurai warriors 5 but dynasty warriors" Which, I guess I personally am not mad about. I wouldn't mind SW5 if it wasn't such a short and small game.
I don't really have any hot takes right now, I prefer to see how something pans out with more trailers, I can still make predictions, but I don't want to judge something till there's a decent amount of info out. As for some of my takes on takes here, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about CAW's in this kind of game, but if it's handled like Samurai Warriors Chronicles, where you can switch characters mid battle and grow relationships and stuff I'm most likely forgetting, I'd have no problem trying something new. I don't have much to say on new characters, (Mostly because I'm not a history buff and I haven't read the novel yet :P) but I do know I want more other characters like Zhang Jiao's brothers. And while I don't hate battle pass's, I don't know how I feel about one for a DW game. Side note, Destiny looks like a pretty cool mode, now if only the older DW and SW games were easier to find out in the wild.
Long time fans of the series dont really need to be told the story again. We have played the same story / time period since dynasty warriors 2. It looks like they are going back to what made dynasty warriors great
I imagine a lot of opportunity to pick sides and defect like in empires. If the rp is deep I can look past any flaws in gameplay but if the Rp is shallow and the gameplay is shallow I won’t be picking it up. I do hope this is a step back from the forced battle directions in newer games. Where they put an arrow or a box on the minimap where you have to go
I cant wait. Hopefully, and this is something big to be hopeful for, they'll remaster the older ones. 5 was my starter, and is still too this day my favorite

I'm plain exhausted with DW discourse these days. I have plenty of other franchises I enjoy that don't disappoint me or make me argue anywhere near as much as DW does. I have tons more opinions and thoughts and predictions and gripes and everything, but I'm near the point of not caring anymore. If it looks good when it comes out, maybe I'll give it a chance, but it's not on my radar
Dynasty Warriors was a childhood game along with SW and WO. I didn't care for this one really until I read a comment about the the so-called Destiny mode from DW5 and that hyped me to the potential of DW origins.
What would be cool would be a mini br game mode where there's bosses that appear on iconic maps ( hulao, chibi, etc) or like a conquest style mode from battlefield. Or of the go the way od dynasty warriors Online they make every unique weapon but organize then into mastery categories
my thoughts upon seeing the trailer is that we'll start in the very first year of the ytr and end on chibi. it kind of reminds me of the opening cut scene we see when starting dwo and chibi is one of the major turning points of the three kingdoms. also, alot of characters died during chibi when we read their biography xD
There is one thing I DON'T want in this game is anything more than a business/platonic relationship with any of the characters and the MC. If there is romance, my sister will marry Jia Chong and I will never see her again. Also, give my brother (in law) back his throwing axes from 8, those where fun as fuck and where the first ultimate weapon I sought out in that game.
I don't know if anyone has noticed that, starting from Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, the producer of the Dynasty Warriors series has changed from Akihiro Suzuki, who produced 7-9, to Tomohiko Sho, the producer of Dynasty Warriors 6 and Fate/Samurai Remnant. Sho Tomohiko himself has repeatedly emphasized in interviews that he prefers the action-strategy genre of the old Dynasty Warriors. I think this time's Origins may be more like a complete version of Dynasty Warriors 6, and the difficulty will be increased, but not like older dynasty warriors, but more like Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, which increases the difficulty by restricting players.
I don't like 6s gameplay that much. Dw 2- 5 Empires and Warriors Orochi Dw characters had Better Gameplay. ( Sw Fans even noted the Sw Characters had way better Charge Attacks and Musous over Dw6/ 7 Characters).
@@hurricane7727 DW6, in general, is a bad game, Due to the short development time, there are too many designs that are not well thought out or can not be deeply developed, and the action is the weakest one so far in the main titles.not to mention the content lacking. However, DW6's battlefields, while retaining the freedom of DW2-5, use various mechanisms to create a battlefield that is more atmospheric and dynamic, more flexible to play, and where almost all of the player's actions can cause a reaction. Especially compared to later title such as DW 7 and 8, where the stage does not interact with the player at all except completing pre-set steps.and DW9s lacks immersion due to details missing and stupid AI.
I would love a dynasty warriors hack and slash combat experience with the world, army/resource managing, tactics and role play of mount and blade. Probably one of my dream games I’ve had since being a kid. I also always wished that you could lose battles in like empire games. To know the struggle of not being the most powerful kingdom bc the player fights for them. I know this is a 1v1000 series so losing isn’t part of the formula but I think it would just be more interesting if losing a battle and the game progressing off it happened
It honestly looks very, very gimmicky. And Omega Force does not do new mechanics well, almost ever. I don't understand what's so difficult about taking the story mode and more serious tone of 7, combining that with 8, and then adding in a lot of the cut story beats that were included in 9. Get as many of the original voice vast from 8 back. And then expand the mechanics. I've always liked the idea of characters having unique move inputs. So some characters have very lengthy normal strings with their charged attacks sprinkled in. Others have more compact move lists, but can chain their charged attacks more easily. Breaks up the monotony, and allows them to give each officer even more unique attacks. This is going to be yet another one step forward, three steps back story and it's going to push the series down a hole even more. I swear they're their own worst enemy, time and time again.
@@hurricane7727 I dno't know what my favorite is. I greatly enjoyed most of the main entries, often for other reasons. If I HAD to pick, I think DW7 was the best for me, because of the massively improved storytelling.
When it became literally 1 vs 1000 these games started sucking 4 and 5 are.the last good dynasty warriors games....better systems should have been better army vs army battles but they said fuck that...
Quests and Side quests were in Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce! It even had Guest characters appearing. I would want soul Calibur Characters playable since both dw and sc Characters use weapons and Sophitia had a Great Moveset
For me DW8 empire are da best for customize your CAW but they are lack of cutscene and your ally officer some time disappear in battlefield while conflict combat

Dynasty Warriors 2 on Hard is Harder than some current Dw games. On that Mode on Chi Bi and Wu Zhang Plains the enemies can Kill a Maxed out Character.

i am the kind of guy who likes his musous with hundreds of characters, dynasty gundam and orochi warriors 3 being my favorite, so by that front i know i will be disappointed since it looks like it will be their new low in scale type of game so in exchange i expect in-depth battlefield roleplaying elements, but, we know that even the empire games are quite simple in their design, i have been following w-force long enough to know i can't expect a baldur's gate 3 level of complexity, so i will also be disappointed in that front as well in conclusion, i know the game will be mid and it's cool they are doing something at all, but i am not really looking forward to it to be honest.
I enjoy a choose your own, but they should add a fighting style like nioh or wo long when fighting officers or generals, but when fighting enemy peons they should make it where they actually fight in a unit and you should have your own unit counter them like blade storm like. So its realistic units vs units and officers vs officer until one unit falls and they well move against that officer and overwhelm the officer to create a challenging peon fight. So if you don't plan or level your unit appropriately they can be sliced through like butter and you'll eventually be overwhelm by enemy peons so as your opponent. If they intend to do a Live service please use Helldivers 2 as a ref as they are truly live service done correctly.

Anyway, this is evolution stop living in the past, a game is made to evolve if you want to play your DW3 or DW5 go back to your PS2, I'm a fan of older and new Dynasty Warriors series, I appreciate all of them and I still play the 9th a lot, I can't wait to play the Origins !! Living in the past like you are still thinking about your ex, be toxic with yourself but not with Dynasty warriors !
Nostalgic Vibes... My first Dynasty Warriors that I was playing during my childhood days was DW4, a purely Masterpiece DW game in my opinion. My favourite Dynasty Warriors games of the Entire Franchise will always be 3, 4, 5 and 6 on PS2. 🤷🏻♂️✌️
I loved Dynasty Warriors 3-5 in all its iterations. The addition of hallway based progression with bases you just need to conquer and then go to the next one was when the game became way too repetitive. My gold standard is still The open concept and dynamic battlefield of the Yellow Turban Rebellion in DW 3 or Hu Lao Gate from DW 4. Dynasty Warriors 6 was very meh in so many ways and then I liked 7 quite a bit with its weapon swapping mechanic. Dynasty Warriors 8 was OK, but I expect more from games nowadays. I dont think the game has a good difficulty level that is both engaging and manageable. DW 3~ 8.5/10 DW 4~ 9/10 DW5~ 9/10 DW 6~ 6.5/10 DW 7~ 7.5/10 DW 8~ 7.0/10 DW 9~ 7.5/10
I'm interested to try Dynasty Warriors Origins. Hopefully they learned from the disaster of DW 9. Though honestly i wish Koei would resurrect the Dynasty Warriors Gundam subseries, since thats my personal favorite of the all the warriors titles.
In all honesty this at least allows most of us fanfic nutcases to write off DWO as its own thing and allowing us to continue with the headcanons from 8 and 9's establishments in our own way.
I stopped fully playing DW series after 6, I dabbled in the others or watched streamers playing them. One thing I've been complaining about for a long time is having to babysit your army. I wanna be able to go attack a section on the other side of the map without worrying about my entire army and generals being defeated by one squad of a Sargent with corporals. Sad that the AI in the older games were more reliable then modern lol
I think with caw they just wanna give a new experience because it’s literally been the same game with a few differences for the past however many games. Also I’m assuming that we’re gonna switch from open world to a more monster hunters type of world where it’s open esc but only for that level. One last thing I hate the fact that it feels like I gotta mash a button 5000 times just to kill someone on a harder difficulty. I just wish the damage they’d take on the harder ones would equal the ones on normal or hard but just make the enemies hit harder because man my controller’s gonna die
I’m sorry but I love/hate Jin, it has some great looking characters, but man the story is fucking boring it’s gotta be the worst of the 4 and it’s not even like it’s barely worse, no it’s way fucking worse it’s so bad. I get bored playing through the story because they don’t have much of a purpose it feels
I do also love that person who said make it a full rpg where get sworn brothers/romances/bonds etc. if they’re gonna continue going away from the original game then just go all the way with it and stop teasing both sides. Also allow our decisions to matter, like if we choose to do one quest instead of another it affects that other quest like it makes it more difficult or if it’s a rescue that person will be closer to death or heck even make the quest be unable to do.
For this game to be amazing they need to learn from their mistakes , yes the dynasty series fell off after 5 but as u said there's still good things in 6-7-8-9 , for this game it would be amazing for it to have something like a mix between musou mode and destiny mode (5 Xtreme legends) you have a nameless hero who start as a private or a mercenary let say he starts in the allied force against the yellow turbans after you win you choose a faction you'd join( wu shu wei) , and to introduce the Players to the world of the r.o.t.t.g the scenarios should be accurate not fictional, if you choose wu faction, it would be weird to get both shu and wei massacred at the end (and that didn't happen) i feel like you'll fight in an accurate scenario battles, let say you joined yuan shao and faught against cao cao in guan du (historically cao cao won) you'll get captured or surrender and go fight under cao cao.... In this way players will have a piece of lore that will get them hooked , starting at the yellow turbans till when jin family won against them all, and maybe till the fall of the jin ( the war of the eight princes (sima YI's grandsons civil war)), this way the game to me would be cool as hell, i don't mind weapon switch system, but don't make it tooo rpg , plus there's alot of things for dw6 they need to add (my opinion is that dw6 was a great game but not a good warriors game) strategies siege machines.... I wanna feel like I'm in war!! That's pretty much what do y'all think
I hope for what it's worth that this will be a return to their roots. I've seen fair bits of the recent games and they just... never really interested me. I joined the franchise with Dynasty Warriors for the GBA, bought DW4, then played DW5 and 7 and I just... I feel like they lost the thread at some point. All the games they make feel super rushed and on the verge of breaking into flames, this isn't even a DW-exclusive issue either. They made god knows how many anime spin-off hack and slash games and all of them are virtually the same down to a painful 1:1 copy of other games and it just sucks. I felt they got revolutionary with their older titles and tried to innovate the genre. The Empires games have always felt like Sandbox "Create your own war" titles and at some point they simply didn't bother to make things interesting again. I don't blame them entirely - they DO rewrite the story of the Three Kingdoms so many times that eventually people will just go "This is boring, this is the same game except with a new number on it", but that's no reason why they should make the games graphically more intensive all while keeping the game itself dull and rehashed.
As much as I'm excited for this game honestly it's time to move on from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and start a brand new series in the Dynasty Warriors franchise I think they should use the Warring States Period of Ancient China (476 BCE-221 BCE) and maybe the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era (907 CE-960 CE) as future Dynasty Warriors games What do you think?
after all the game flops that have been happening lately im happy to see how good origins looks i think this next game will only be an upgrade to the dw series after all its just a single player game lol
I used to really love Dynasty Warriors back during 3-5. After that it just went down hill with each game being worse. So i don't have high expectations for this Origins, unless they an recapture the spirit of what their series used to be. Back before enemies stopped even trying to fight back. But i am expecting more or the same honestly maybe with some kind of bad open world map thrown in and greedy transaction instead of players just getting everything upfront.
I'm still salty with the lack of depth/content in DW9 Empires. I can say I will be disappointed if this is just a retelling of the story we know so well with a custom character. It must include some of all elements from destiny mode to be interesting. If it has better/more of these elements, it might be good.
I want to be like everyone else and say “I want it to be like 6 or 9 or 4” but in reality, this won’t be those games and I’m so happy about that, 2 3 4 5 7 and 8 were just the same thing with a new paint job. I really just need something else. We are in PS5 era, they are also revamping their Dynasty and Samurai series. I think it would just be best to let the past games go, if you want to play them, some are on gamepass, steam, and PlayStation+

@@weightycarlos Yeah, they figured that instead of improving a lot of characters movesets, it would be easier to make a random protagonist and put some extra moves in him, while you could still use a very limited number of the old officers wich probably wouldnt have very updated movesets, probably the same as DW9.
Its like they found how to make it the cheaper way and its very dissapointing. It feels like the DW franchise doesnt have any direction right now, since DW8 it has gotten worse and worse.

Okay, no one said it, I will. Bring back the "I AM THE TRUE WARRIOR OF THE THREE KINGDOMS!" after killing 1k enemies. And please make the troops very skilled and agressive when morale is high, and vice versa, I love that system. Bring back the duel system, I love the one from dw6, very adrenaline pumping!
And bring mobile unit captain back, make em stronger, love those guys

We need a warriors game where 500 kills feels like ALOT. It’s crazy how I am already getting 3000 kills on level 1. It takes the gratitude of getting that 1 in 100 games where you go HAM for 1K+ kills, where I don’t get that 4 digit number unless it’s been a true epic to get there

I really want this game to be a mix of 6 and 4, with more story elements and a refined combat/battle system.
Massive battles and thousands of units onscreen is awesome but wont mean much if we end up with braindead ai.
If the main story is all about the created character but with the ability to play from the perspective of any other character, i think that will be a great way of having a concise, replayable story, without losing out on free mode.
multiple narratives, unique stages for some characters and having stages change depending on the outcomes of previous battles aswell as which character you are playing as, would be a super fun addition to the game.
I would also like the directions they've had with DW7's storytelling. It was really good, Cao Cao's death bed, Liu Bei's rage, etc.
@@ChaolaoFueChi I don' know much about 7, played for an hour or two and then traded the game in, just remember there was no free mode and the campaign was totally different from what i had played before.
@mickieg1994 It's all good, it was more of a unfinished and just another experiment of a Gane that didn't even finish It's storytelling, 8 was just an upgrade but at the same time not much changed but was polished if anything.
@mickieg1994 I'd recommend checking the cutscenes out for the ones I mentioned. It's good. Gave me the chills and made me question why they haven't they actually polish the storytelling in most of the games.
The idea of a battle pass in DW sounds even worse than the current DLC model imo. At least with the DLC I don't feel pressured to log in every day with for fear of missing out on the battle pass rewards, and can instead play on my own time
No offense, but this looks like a big concept of a game, but the problem is that it's Koei/Omega force, and they love to half-ass anything they do so the bigger the game the bigger the half-assery.
I'm unsure how true they have ass the bigger games, but they have been so far. Since their working under other many, like too many games to make.
Like, Fire Emblem Warriors came, then Hyrule Warriors, Warriors Orochi, etc. Maybe that's why they changed to Omega-Force instead of Koei-Techmo?
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games also haven’t really shaped up the way I wanted them to. Ten had a whole bunch of RPG elements that I really liked but the next one seemed to completely get rid of that. I also really liked Kessen 3 and Bladestorm: Hundred Years War, I’d like more games like those from Koei.
No one is as critical of Dynasty Warriors as Dynasty Warriors fans. As we tend to know the series the best and im glad not everyone is blindly excited but cautious of DWO.
The thing is this could be W-Force (The devs of The DW games) chance of redemption. Tecmo Koei has plenty of devs underneath them who pulled some great stunts like Nioh. So as a company they put more resources where its worth it.
If W-Force fudges this one up they lose a lot of faith as 9 seemed to be the breaking point as is and 9 empires didnt make it better.
The ball is in their court blow us away and see if you can garner that lost faith again W-Force.
That aside we gotta get the first person who appears alphabetically on every Dynasty Warriors. Raise the spears for my guy AHUI NAN! He deserves to be brought as a unique dude!

we need the likes of Liao Hua on each kingdom, who narrates the story of the kingdom from the start to an end, Liao Hua could become the narrator for Shu stories as he's the one who see Shu from when they are born, into their demise, for wu, it can be Lu Xun or a brand new character, for wei, you can took the point of view of Sima Yi or Cao Shuang
Shu could be Jian Yong into Jiang Wei.
Wu could be Zhu Zhi into Lu Xun
Wei could be Cao Hong into Sima Yi.

I want there to be multiple storylines that allows replayability. Depending on what decisions we choose, we become the stratigist of shu for example. Taking over zhuge liang's spot is the best stratigist. Zhuge liang then has a different backstory since his canon story of being the stratigist is no longer. Instead of a Defeat screen, let us become captured, where we have to now work with the enemy and our commander/forces are sending messages trying to get us back. Allow us to be the one to rescue liu shan instead of zhao yun thus allowing zhao yun to be placed in a different province at the time and allowing shu to fight off against the enemy thanks to us being the one going back to save liu shan. Allow us to be the reinforcments for guan yu at fan castle where we either do or dont make it in time before his death.(They kinda did this what if with Xing Cai in DW5XL but i think it'll be cool to expand on) Somethings like that to change the story we once knew I think would be cool.
TBH for me losing splitscreen would be a deal killer for me. It's what kept me off of so many side games(IE Pirate warriors, berserk and the band of the hawk, etc.) before, and its half of what kept me from bothering with 9(other half being that it sucks.)
for me, musou games are something i play with my brother or close friends while we're chilling out. If they're dropping local co-op then the game basically has to be better than the best entries in the series for me to even consider caring.
Honestly, having played since 3. The one thing that stills appeals to me for DW is the Empires, I even played DW9:Empires without having touched the main game. If I were to speculate I would bet that while DW9 was poorly executed, the idea of an open world wasn't terrible but maybe they need to make it a bit more sandbox, so if they were to opt for the freedom of a caw and working with that as their blank slate, they could make a more unique DW story with it being more choice driven by the player rather then playing out pre-determined goal set scenarios, so that's where the idea of Empires would fit in quite nicely imo. My idea is still pretty bare bones but a main DW game with a Caw as your character with the semblance of freedom of choice with the Empires aspect would definitely appeal to me, also I just want my Holy Avenger back man.
Empires is always the best thing for me in Warriors games because it brings me back to the Nobunaga's Ambition days.
My prediction is that DW:O will likely merge aspects of DW and DWE.
We'll likely get to play as our CAW and interact with the cast, marry our waifus, etc etc.
But it'll follow the gameplay/story of a normal DW title, maybe with extra branching, what-if's or additional scenarios depending on what happens.
DW3 was my first Warriors game back in the PS2 era and I've been a fan ever since until DW7 where I noticed they were starting to cut corners and the drop in quality.
People were very critical of 6 back when it was released but it's still one of my favorite Warriors game (sue me), the graphics were great going from PS2 to PS3, the story was amazing with it's what if scenario, harder difficulties was actually challenging and not in a unfair way, controls were tight and combat was as amazing as DW5 if not better, VAs were great and the music were amazing.
All I'm saying is DW6 had soul despite how critical the fan base was. DW dropped the ball for me where characters starts to feel like clones of each other when they're using the same weapons. DW8 might be the best modern DW game but I still felt the same issues it had with DW7. DW8 despite some of it's flaws, it's still one of my favorite DW game and I would place it in my top 5 DW games.
I thought we might be back on track with 8 Xtreme Legends but then we get something like 9. I don't think we need to talk about DW9, we all know how that game turned out. 9 was the game that made me lose faith in the franchise as a whole.
DWO gave me a glimmer of hope because I truly think this is what the series desperately needs, a reset button. I know people wants the series to go back to it's roots, be able to play as our favorite characters we know and love over the years and I do too.
But listen, I'm a very simple man with very simple wishes. Here's what I want from DWO, if we're only gonna play as our CaW character then give them a proper personality with fully voice acted lines. If we get a silent protagonist, I'm instantly out. Let us choose factions to join and whichever faction we join will impact the outcome/story. Let our CaW character interact with characters from pervious games in meaningful ways.
Give us Co-Op multiplayer and PvP where players control their own armies trying to take control over enemy territories. And if the combat plays just as good as it looks then I'm sold. Personally I don't mind if we don't get to play as historical figures, we can keep those for numbered titles like DW10 for example.
And please for the love of god hire better VAs for the game.
personally i would love for the morale system from 3-5 to come back. it made taking out troops worthwhile. morale in 8 was pointless since the enemy could have no generals left but high morale bc of the never ending troops. bring back gate captains as well

Seeing the heroes play out through the eyes of an outsider could be pretty fun for some fictional story options.
But if they don't do it well, it could easily be one of the worst experiences in the franchise.
At least they're taking creative risks. Doing SOMETHING. These games could be some of the best in the business if they put more effort into them. Not just for their hard-core fans like us.

This might be a hot take, but I really want to have different characters that I can play as, not only the "nameless" hero. Also, unique weapons and move set for everyone. Not the recycled weapons and move set that we got in recent titles. I really enjoyed DW8 for example and the combat system was great, DW9 had a great potential too, but the action in that game was really terrible you would have to waste so much time just to actually be involved in a battlefield and the battles were not even challenging.
I just want all the weapons koie ever made and their charge attacks. Give us back old Gan Ning! Give us back the body guard system. Give us better mounts. Give us more items. Let us hold more than 2 weapons. Make the ai actually fight…. Like some generals you will have to avoid till you are leveled up. Or just take a page out of hell divers and deep rock when it comes to swarm combat. Also I really miss my orbs from dw3 and dw4 😢.
I do miss the old weapons. They've maybe the same styles, mostly the spears, swords, and pikes.
Like, Cao Cao, Liu Bei or Sun Jian having a single sword stance but different battle forms in attacking, Cao Cao l, Liu Bei, and Zhou Yu was my favorite sword users, Ma Chao and Zhou Yun were the best spear users, especially the basic generic officers styles.
But I've git to say, DW6 visual actually had more background lighting and other stuff compared to the sort of bland colorings so far, DW9 playable officers had amazing and nearly true Chinese outfits, aside from DWE9... had enough with the outfit creation, the coloring system was pretty much more optional than Wo Long, or Ronin has.

I know it sounds small. But I loved that customization of your own character it made you feel more valuable when you beat people to a punch. Or heroes were astounded by who defeated ma Chao or lu bu. Not to mention having custom bodyguards that leveled with you and grew in appearance and strength that you could name. That was awesome.
Just to add to the new character idea, I would love to see King Shamoke be a character just for the simple reason that he kills Gan Ning and Zhou Tai basically goes on a personal revenge mission to kill him. Its nothing major but its something i think could add to both characters personalities outside of Gan Ning being an overpowered badass with bells and Zhou Tai being a personal shield for Sun Quan. Also to take a little creative liberties and show Gan Ning and Zhou Tai joining Wu from being pirates would be nice as well. Also got favorites from all factions Zhou Tai would be from Wu Gan Ning doesn't make the list only because he doesn't have his Sword from Dynasty Warriors 4. Favorite weapon for him to this day.

I always theorized that a game like Dynasty Warriors Origins would come out, and I always thought that instead of just a custom character, you would also follow around one of the longest lived characters in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" like Liao Hua.
Also, I know that I'm having a little tangent, but it would be interesting if Koei Tecmo would focus more on the Chu-Han Contention and have it tie to Dynasty Warriors in some way. For example, Liu Bang and Xiahou Ying having a strange, complicated friendship, alluding to the fact that they were the ancestors of Liu Bei and Cao Cao respectively.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. My Dad and I spent so much time playing this game. And it was HARD, at least it was as a kid.
Enemy intelligence was ok in Arslan Warriors, they attacked me in the middle of my combo and managed to interrupt my attack.
No free mode already pisses me off, sadly

We don't know, people love just saying stuff as if it was a fact. Origins feels like Three Hopes, and that game didn't have a Free Mode, but you could select any mission from any route from a list, so Free Mode but inside Story mode.

As soon as DW switched to Weapon based move list, i lost interest COMPLETELY. It loses the charm of each character and became just clones.
I definitely like the older DW where you can play as either a unique or caw however if the Origins only has the nameless hero as playable I could accept that IF the story is highly fleshed out and is long and allows a certain amount of player freedom. Also I wouldn't mind having some form of a survival mode when you just want to mindlessly slaughter but it would need decent-ish enemy AI and be objective based per stage. I would still rather have a large playable roster but I don't think that will be the case...
I only go back to DW6 that was my official entry into the franchise! And I’ve loved it sense then! I couldn’t be more excited for origins! So far this looks exactly like what I’ve been wanting!
Honestly I'd be so down for a full Warriors game in the style of Destiny mode. Having the main "story" mode focus on the CAW character and then a free mode where you could play as all the other officers would be the best of both worlds IMO! I wouldn't mind If they added some new characters too - Liao Hua, Lady Bian, Wen Ping and Wu Guotai would be cool to see!
I'm kinda hyped for this game, I just wish that we get a full package, give us everything we had in prior games and let us play all the characters and were good
7:30 When it comes to new characters personally what I want to see the most are Wen Chou and Yan Liang, Yuan Shao's top 2 Generals that where slain by Guan Yu.

No that CAW is someone in the roster that we know. Even the dev said it's a guy that we will recognize as we progress through the game, they age as the game progresses.

I feel like Origins is going to skip Jin. We has yet to get Wu side of the Jin campaign and Ding Feng is pretty much the only character that is alive during that time. Unless they extended Wu campaign before the Jin campaign to match the length of the other campaigns or add more unique characters for WU during that time, I don't see them doing Jin.
We definitely need the Jin vs Late Wu Scenario, it's been years already.

I feel like DW crippled themselves by having so many characters, weapons, modes, and combat systems in the previous games. They do not take out characters (minus 6) and they try to add with every installment. With this new one, I think they did not want to add a new character/s, give everyone unique weapons and stories, and add a system of gameplay. They had a very big order to fill with this game based on how they’ve upgraded in the past so I am very anxious to see what they give us… they clearly fumbled dw9 in a few areas and it doesn’t look like they listened to what the classic players wanted so we’ll see
And Dw Strikeforce. That game also has a Hard Chi Bi with the enemies Having Super Armor.

Wu and Wei are somewhat different yet easy to do in Destiny Mode, Shu on the other hand... dear lord! Why's it so hard! Especially Zhou Yun's, it has more stages too.... pain.

I don't mind peons being braindead but I really hope atleast notable officers take some level of skill to beat and not just mashing square and mousou to win

Which, I guess I personally am not mad about. I wouldn't mind SW5 if it wasn't such a short and small game.
I don't really have any hot takes right now, I prefer to see how something pans out with more trailers, I can still make predictions, but I don't want to judge something till there's a decent amount of info out.
As for some of my takes on takes here, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about CAW's in this kind of game, but if it's handled like Samurai Warriors Chronicles, where you can switch characters mid battle and grow relationships and stuff I'm most likely forgetting, I'd have no problem trying something new. I don't have much to say on new characters, (Mostly because I'm not a history buff and I haven't read the novel yet :P) but I do know I want more other characters like Zhang Jiao's brothers. And while I don't hate battle pass's, I don't know how I feel about one for a DW game.
Side note, Destiny looks like a pretty cool mode, now if only the older DW and SW games were easier to find out in the wild.
Long time fans of the series dont really need to be told the story again. We have played the same story / time period since dynasty warriors 2.

I imagine a lot of opportunity to pick sides and defect like in empires. If the rp is deep I can look past any flaws in gameplay but if the Rp is shallow and the gameplay is shallow I won’t be picking it up. I do hope this is a step back from the forced battle directions in newer games. Where they put an arrow or a box on the minimap where you have to go
I cant wait. Hopefully, and this is something big to be hopeful for, they'll remaster the older ones. 5 was my starter, and is still too this day my favorite

Dynasty Warriors was a childhood game along with SW and WO. I didn't care for this one really until I read a comment about the the so-called Destiny mode from DW5 and that hyped me to the potential of DW origins.
What would be cool would be a mini br game mode where there's bosses that appear on iconic maps ( hulao, chibi, etc) or like a conquest style mode from battlefield. Or of the go the way od dynasty warriors Online they make every unique weapon but organize then into mastery categories
my thoughts upon seeing the trailer is that we'll start in the very first year of the ytr and end on chibi. it kind of reminds me of the opening cut scene we see when starting dwo and chibi is one of the major turning points of the three kingdoms. also, alot of characters died during chibi when we read their biography xD
There is one thing I DON'T want in this game is anything more than a business/platonic relationship with any of the characters and the MC. If there is romance, my sister will marry Jia Chong and I will never see her again.
Also, give my brother (in law) back his throwing axes from 8, those where fun as fuck and where the first ultimate weapon I sought out in that game.
I think this might be more along the lines of Samurai Warriors Chronicles.
I don't know if anyone has noticed that, starting from Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, the producer of the Dynasty Warriors series has changed from Akihiro Suzuki, who produced 7-9, to Tomohiko Sho, the producer of Dynasty Warriors 6 and Fate/Samurai Remnant. Sho Tomohiko himself has repeatedly emphasized in interviews that he prefers the action-strategy genre of the old Dynasty Warriors. I think this time's Origins may be more like a complete version of Dynasty Warriors 6, and the difficulty will be increased, but not like older dynasty warriors, but more like Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, which increases the difficulty by restricting players.
I don't like 6s gameplay that much. Dw 2- 5 Empires and Warriors Orochi Dw characters had Better Gameplay. ( Sw Fans even noted the Sw Characters had way better Charge Attacks and Musous over Dw6/ 7 Characters).
@@hurricane7727 DW6, in general, is a bad game, Due to the short development time, there are too many designs that are not well thought out or can not be deeply developed, and the action is the weakest one so far in the main titles.not to mention the content lacking.
However, DW6's battlefields, while retaining the freedom of DW2-5, use various mechanisms to create a battlefield that is more atmospheric and dynamic, more flexible to play, and where almost all of the player's actions can cause a reaction. Especially compared to later title such as DW 7 and 8, where the stage does not interact with the player at all except completing pre-set steps.and DW9s lacks immersion due to details missing and stupid AI.
Man I loved destiny mode in DW5XL. Played the shit out of it. Would love an updated model version of it
I would love a dynasty warriors hack and slash combat experience with the world, army/resource managing, tactics and role play of mount and blade. Probably one of my dream games I’ve had since being a kid.
I also always wished that you could lose battles in like empire games. To know the struggle of not being the most powerful kingdom bc the player fights for them. I know this is a 1v1000 series so losing isn’t part of the formula but I think it would just be more interesting if losing a battle and the game progressing off it happened
It honestly looks very, very gimmicky. And Omega Force does not do new mechanics well, almost ever. I don't understand what's so difficult about taking the story mode and more serious tone of 7, combining that with 8, and then adding in a lot of the cut story beats that were included in 9. Get as many of the original voice vast from 8 back. And then expand the mechanics.
I've always liked the idea of characters having unique move inputs. So some characters have very lengthy normal strings with their charged attacks sprinkled in. Others have more compact move lists, but can chain their charged attacks more easily. Breaks up the monotony, and allows them to give each officer even more unique attacks.
This is going to be yet another one step forward, three steps back story and it's going to push the series down a hole even more. I swear they're their own worst enemy, time and time again.
I think Dynasty Warriors 3 og data + Dw3 Xl is still the Best Dynasty Warriors games next to Dynasty Warriors 2 and 4Xl with Dw4 Original Data
@@hurricane7727 I dno't know what my favorite is. I greatly enjoyed most of the main entries, often for other reasons. If I HAD to pick, I think DW7 was the best for me, because of the massively improved storytelling.
When it became literally 1 vs 1000 these games started sucking 4 and 5 are.the last good dynasty warriors games....better systems should have been better army vs army battles but they said fuck that...
Quests and Side quests were in Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce! It even had Guest characters appearing. I would want soul Calibur Characters playable since both dw and sc Characters use weapons and Sophitia had a Great Moveset
For me DW8 empire are da best for customize your CAW but they are lack of cutscene and your ally officer some time disappear in battlefield while conflict combat

Dynasty Warriors 2 on Hard is Harder than some current Dw games. On that Mode on Chi Bi and Wu Zhang Plains the enemies can Kill a Maxed out Character.

You sure are playing the Devils advocate here. Koei sorta needs good DW game, but that is don't necessary mean they will deliver.
i am the kind of guy who likes his musous with hundreds of characters, dynasty gundam and orochi warriors 3 being my favorite, so by that front i know i will be disappointed since it looks like it will be their new low in scale type of game
so in exchange i expect in-depth battlefield roleplaying elements, but, we know that even the empire games are quite simple in their design, i have been following w-force long enough to know i can't expect a baldur's gate 3 level of complexity, so i will also be disappointed in that front as well
in conclusion, i know the game will be mid and it's cool they are doing something at all, but i am not really looking forward to it to be honest.
I enjoy a choose your own, but they should add a fighting style like nioh or wo long when fighting officers or generals, but when fighting enemy peons they should make it where they actually fight in a unit and you should have your own unit counter them like blade storm like. So its realistic units vs units and officers vs officer until one unit falls and they well move against that officer and overwhelm the officer to create a challenging peon fight. So if you don't plan or level your unit appropriately they can be sliced through like butter and you'll eventually be overwhelm by enemy peons so as your opponent. If they intend to do a Live service please use Helldivers 2 as a ref as they are truly live service done correctly.

Nostalgic Vibes... My first Dynasty Warriors that I was playing during my childhood days was DW4, a purely Masterpiece DW game in my opinion. My favourite Dynasty Warriors games of the Entire Franchise will always be 3, 4, 5 and 6 on PS2. 🤷🏻♂️✌️
Definitely. 4 was my first too way back in the day. I also had a good time with 3, 5 and 8.
I loved Dynasty Warriors 3-5 in all its iterations. The addition of hallway based progression with bases you just need to conquer and then go to the next one was when the game became way too repetitive.
My gold standard is still The open concept and dynamic battlefield of the Yellow Turban Rebellion in DW 3 or Hu Lao Gate from DW 4.
Dynasty Warriors 6 was very meh in so many ways and then I liked 7 quite a bit with its weapon swapping mechanic.
Dynasty Warriors 8 was OK, but I expect more from games nowadays. I dont think the game has a good difficulty level that is both engaging and manageable.

It's not an Origins story without lore about the first emperor who conquered China and founded the Qin Dynasty.
I stopped fully playing DW series after 6, I dabbled in the others or watched streamers playing them. One thing I've been complaining about for a long time is having to babysit your army. I wanna be able to go attack a section on the other side of the map without worrying about my entire army and generals being defeated by one squad of a Sargent with corporals. Sad that the AI in the older games were more reliable then modern lol
I think with caw they just wanna give a new experience because it’s literally been the same game with a few differences for the past however many games. Also I’m assuming that we’re gonna switch from open world to a more monster hunters type of world where it’s open esc but only for that level. One last thing I hate the fact that it feels like I gotta mash a button 5000 times just to kill someone on a harder difficulty. I just wish the damage they’d take on the harder ones would equal the ones on normal or hard but just make the enemies hit harder because man my controller’s gonna die
I’m sorry but I love/hate Jin, it has some great looking characters, but man the story is fucking boring it’s gotta be the worst of the 4 and it’s not even like it’s barely worse, no it’s way fucking worse it’s so bad. I get bored playing through the story because they don’t have much of a purpose it feels
I do also love that person who said make it a full rpg where get sworn brothers/romances/bonds etc. if they’re gonna continue going away from the original game then just go all the way with it and stop teasing both sides. Also allow our decisions to matter, like if we choose to do one quest instead of another it affects that other quest like it makes it more difficult or if it’s a rescue that person will be closer to death or heck even make the quest be unable to do.
For this game to be amazing they need to learn from their mistakes , yes the dynasty series fell off after 5 but as u said there's still good things in 6-7-8-9 , for this game it would be amazing for it to have something like a mix between musou mode and destiny mode (5 Xtreme legends) you have a nameless hero who start as a private or a mercenary let say he starts in the allied force against the yellow turbans after you win you choose a faction you'd join( wu shu wei) , and to introduce the Players to the world of the r.o.t.t.g the scenarios should be accurate not fictional, if you choose wu faction, it would be weird to get both shu and wei massacred at the end (and that didn't happen) i feel like you'll fight in an accurate scenario battles, let say you joined yuan shao and faught against cao cao in guan du (historically cao cao won) you'll get captured or surrender and go fight under cao cao.... In this way players will have a piece of lore that will get them hooked , starting at the yellow turbans till when jin family won against them all, and maybe till the fall of the jin ( the war of the eight princes (sima YI's grandsons civil war)), this way the game to me would be cool as hell, i don't mind weapon switch system, but don't make it tooo rpg , plus there's alot of things for dw6 they need to add (my opinion is that dw6 was a great game but not a good warriors game) strategies siege machines.... I wanna feel like I'm in war!!

I've seen fair bits of the recent games and they just... never really interested me. I joined the franchise with Dynasty Warriors for the GBA, bought DW4, then played DW5 and 7 and I just... I feel like they lost the thread at some point.
All the games they make feel super rushed and on the verge of breaking into flames, this isn't even a DW-exclusive issue either. They made god knows how many anime spin-off hack and slash games and all of them are virtually the same down to a painful 1:1 copy of other games and it just sucks.
I felt they got revolutionary with their older titles and tried to innovate the genre. The Empires games have always felt like Sandbox "Create your own war" titles and at some point they simply didn't bother to make things interesting again. I don't blame them entirely - they DO rewrite the story of the Three Kingdoms so many times that eventually people will just go "This is boring, this is the same game except with a new number on it", but that's no reason why they should make the games graphically more intensive all while keeping the game itself dull and rehashed.
As much as I'm excited for this game honestly it's time to move on from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and start a brand new series in the Dynasty Warriors franchise
I think they should use the Warring States Period of Ancient China (476 BCE-221 BCE) and maybe the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era (907 CE-960 CE) as future Dynasty Warriors games

I think that if you want to get a good feeling for what this game could potentially be like look at rise of Ronin(also made by Koei).
I used to really love Dynasty Warriors back during 3-5. After that it just went down hill with each game being worse. So i don't have high expectations for this Origins, unless they an recapture the spirit of what their series used to be. Back before enemies stopped even trying to fight back. But i am expecting more or the same honestly maybe with some kind of bad open world map thrown in and greedy transaction instead of players just getting everything upfront.
I'm still salty with the lack of depth/content in DW9 Empires. I can say I will be disappointed if this is just a retelling of the story we know so well with a custom character. It must include some of all elements from destiny mode to be interesting. If it has better/more of these elements, it might be good.

I want to be like everyone else and say “I want it to be like 6 or 9 or 4” but in reality, this won’t be those games and I’m so happy about that, 2 3 4 5 7 and 8 were just the same thing with a new paint job. I really just need something else. We are in PS5 era, they are also revamping their Dynasty and Samurai series. I think it would just be best to let the past games go, if you want to play them, some are on gamepass, steam, and PlayStation+
2 through 4 are the best games and the ai is actually aggressive
