Abuyin's final prophecy is not a retcon. Darkness in the cave. Evil triumphs, Xardas played you to get Beliar's power. The king loses his war, he's locked in the capital after the orcs conquer the land. You return to the mainland after you were exiled to Khorinis. You find war. Orcs v rebels, nomads v slavers, innos against beliar. Also, Nek works fine, the original guards were simply the guys in Gomez's gang that fought the wardens and stripped off their armors. Nek is simply a wimpy guy that supported Gomez, or maybe he suffered some injury, and he was helping the other little guys in camp, such as by picking mushrooms to get better food from Snaf. Edit* the dragons are fine too when you consider Beliar is the god of darkness and death. Water supports life and could be the domain of Adanos but ice is dead and arctic deserts are infamously lacking in life. Earth as stone which is not like fertile soil, and swamp is air, the stench of putrescence that lingers in the air of a poisonous bog full of dead shit. Or spin it around, putrid water for swamp and cold air for ice. Fire is already destructive rather than the warmth and light given by Innos. And even in the second game, the gods remain pretty grey, Vatras says that even if innos were to win, it would mean a total lack of freedom, and he is no more inherently good than Beliar is. You are simply his agent, sent to battle the beast, like in his stories of genesis. And don't forget that with the expansion, you get to wield the instrument of Beliar, and pray to his altar to receive blessings of his power. Edit 2. Bodysurf cheat is when you use the resurrect button to fly, I'm pretty sure, if you hold down the button you just keep going further and further up. And if you're in walk mode you don't fall, then you can hold down the K key to keep teleporting forward and traverse great distances. Why it's on the iceberg is probably because in the first game the res didn't throw you forward but towards a specific direction. Either that or it's the possess cheat letting you "surf" inside the body of an NPC and you can use them to talk to people, and you have their faction tags, maybe you can use that to pass certain dialogue checks, or speak to yourself, though I can't remember what that does. Edit 3. "The ore mound is not the answer" from Xardas most likely refers more to the fact it wouldn't kill the sleeper, but rather set it loose.

The Bandit camp actually has a purpose - the swamp weed dealers from the New Camp go there after you expelled them from their cave. They also used a different name and are called "Robbers", distinguishing them from the New Camp. Quentin might simply be a Tarantino reference because you are slaughtering them.
Morgrad isn't the name of Gothic world, it merely a term that appeared once in the entire franchise in a single and very vague and cryptic book that is very much up to interpretation. The characters in game refer to Gothic world as the earth.
5:58 finally someone noticed before i told them. I noticed that, when i started singing the song along to the Theme of the old camp. Was mind blown something over 10 years ago :D since then it is one of the best examples of "forshadowing" events. apparently in extremo only plays in the german versions/releases for copyright reason.
So about orcs being "Beliar's foot soldiers", it's not that they are the default foot soldiers of Beliar, they really are just a normal culture. In Gothic 1 The Sleeper (which is another of Beliar's beings) manipulated them into being devoted to him. In Gothic 2, it's fair to assume that Beliar's dragons got to them as well, and either forced them to do his bidding, or they were somehow charmed. There are some orcs in armor actually speaking on Beliar's behalf, but that could just be the fanatics of the group, and not representing of all orcs. What I think the actual retcon in regards to the orcs is, is the fact that in G1 and G2, with the exception of a very few orcs (like the guys who help you make the Ulu-Mulu in G1, and the aforementioned armored orcs that talk to you in G2) they were a primitive species with an actual culture, while in G3 they can suddenly talk, their culture suddenly changed to be almost indistinguishable from human culture, etc. It's implied that Xardas did something to them, but then it's also implied that they've always been like this...
In Gothic 3 you have the "cultured" orcs in Myrtana and Varant and "wild" orcs in rhe north who all attack you on sight. The orcs in Gothic 1 and 2 are supposed to have been the northern tribes.
@@rusi6219 Where did you even get this from? There were never any wild orcs in Nordmar. This is all a fan myth, designed to somehow justify the fact that the Piranhas could not / did not want / did not have time to make the orcs in Nordmar somehow interact with the player. They wear the same clothes, look identical, speak with the same voices. There are no wild orcs. One could argue that the orcs from the Ore Valley and the orcs from the north are different species, or that these are two civilizations that developed in parallel (because the latter were isolated from the former for many years), but I hardly believe it. The fact that Ur-Shak and his relatives quickly went over to the invaders' side suggests that either the orcs quickly found a common language, or that their differences were not that great. The orcs themselves never seemed like a wild and backward culture to me. In the Ore Valley area, they were backward, but it didn't seem like that area, other than the ore itself, had a lot of resources to develop a powerful civilization.
Just like how our culture and development differs, so does orcs - orcs in Myrtana are the ones who advanced and became more civilised, while orc on Khorinis are still tribal.
Thank you, I loved these videos very much! It was amazing to see that other people thinking about the same mysteries as me. Anyway, I have some other questions: 1. How did Dexter knew that the Hero destroyed the Barrier? 2. In the First Chapter of G2, Lee said that he wants to get to Myrtana with his men, and get pardon for them. In the Fifth Chapter, he simply leaves Khorinis with the Hero, and leaves most of the mercenaries on the island. Didn't they got mad at him? 3. The face symbol on the armor of the mercenaries is pretty similar to the one on the gate of the Halls of Irdorath. It can be be seen in some catacombs on Khorinis as well. Does this have any relevance?
Glad that you like it. Regarding your questions: 1. The Seekers came in contact with Dexter, at least that's what happened before NotR. They also probably told him about the Hero and his achievements in the Temple and the fall of the barrier. 2. Unfortunately it's kind of a plot hole and never properly adressed. Lord Hagen said he grants Lee amnesty but only him alone. 3. Yeah it is kinda similar and for a long time I thought it might be a depiction of Adanos (because Mercenaries protected the mages of Adanos during G1) but I think I am wrong. To be honest, it might just be some face. I don't think too much thought went into all these details.
For the ork females.. I would imagine to being not really a difference, they are probably smaller build, but that would be about it. Think gorillas, females are very similar, just subtle build, still being able to rip you in half. And why there are no orkish females? I think that the in game orks are pretty much either on the frontline war or raiding party and being probably very male dominant culture, they just leave their girl at home camp.
Could the Bodysurf cheat have something to do with being able to take over NPCs bodies? I remember discovering that by pure chance when I was like 8 years old and I had so much fun taking over all the high powered monsters and attacking the towns. You could even take turn into the Dragons and fly around the map causing chaos. I've never heard anyone talk about that before, so even now it feels like I'm the only person who discovered it by pure chance haha
I remembered one more mystery for which I found no theory online and it is not mentioned in the video. And these are the skeletons (corpses) in front of the Vino's cave. It's obvious something happened there. Either a minor battle or a mass poisoning of the entire group. Why did it happen there, how did it happen? I'd be very interested in your opinion.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames That is completely true! We know a raid happened and it sounds like it happened not that long ago, yet the corpses are already skeletonized. The corpses could be his accomplices.
I don't think the 13th mage is a myth. This is another example of how the Piranhas quickly abandon ideas that could be interestingly substantiated. My theory is that the 13th mage is the Sleeper. We know that the Sleeper somehow influenced the creation of the barrier, which is why it covered a larger area than expected. Because of this, the old camp was captured by miners. At the same time, if I'm not mistaken, one of the mages and Xardas assumed that the Sleeper directly influenced the creation of the barrier. This is an excellent justification for why Saturas hinted at the 13th sorcerer, and why he is unknown.
The cave mushroom story goes differently: A long time ago I heared one of the devs say: They were "Höhlenpilze=cave mushrooms" but the person who placed them did not place them only in caves but at some other locations too. This destroyed the whole point of the name. They thought about fixing the mistake but there was no way of finding all the mushrooms that have already been placed outside of caves. This is why the went for the easy fix and just replaced a Single letter in the muahrooms name giving us "Höllenpilz=Hell mushroom"
I'll answer some questions about Arcania: Zyra is not Rhobar III's daughter. He took her in when she tried to steal from him in Mora Sul. Also why Xardas is alive in Arcania is never explained
Vertigo, I hope you are doing well, but we have bussiness to discuss - the Gothic remake showcase dropped and we need to talk about it, mate! Can't wait for your take on the gameplay showcase!
The eye of Innos does not have a design flaw. Basically the first time the amulet got the powers is because once upon a time, a dragon of Beliar ate a rock, and that rock got stuck in it's gut. Over time the rock got infused with magical energy. And then one day that dragon went to Taco Bell near closing hours so the chefs there gave him food poisoning. The food poisoning was so bad that the dragon of Beliar shat out the magic infused rock and that was the eye of Innos. Praise the sun god.
as for the last prophecy by abujin where he say the nameless hero shall return but not find peace: maybe we could connect that to arcania:"gothic" "4" where king rhobar III is tormented by demons. a bit of a stretch, but still...
extremely rare to find a video where someone puts some passion, that's just how gothic 1 is... it was made with passion, not some "muh triple A company" throwing a bunch of cash on graphics and zero storyline. Yeah, gothic is buggy and unfinished, plus the extremely headstrong dumb devs and community that refuse to speak english... but this is a 2 hour video with so much editing and in-game editing, not just "let's pay some guy to give us effects on the video". 2 hours with no "remember to like subscribe hit that bell icon" stfu.

Etzala hier wird net gedrollt
^as a Gothic fanatic from Poland I get lost because of english pronunciation of characters, places etc. Love the video.
Yeah I mean the melody is practically the same but you are right, not many people picked up on that.
Talking Orks irked me at first but you have to admit they are funny like that, i had fond memories of running away from them and hearing MORRAH!!!!!!!
@@Крэйден_хMike Hoge explained that they wanted to create a more elaborate Orc culture in Gothic 3..so it's basically retcon
Just like how our culture and development differs, so does orcs - orcs in Myrtana are the ones who advanced and became more civilised, while orc on Khorinis are still tribal.
hope will be more lore digging in new remake gothic!
Thank you, I loved these videos very much! It was amazing to see that other people thinking about the same mysteries as me.
Anyway, I have some other questions:
Regarding your questions:
G1 and G2 are one of my favorite games!!! Masterpieces! So happy to see G1 Remake - looks beautiful!
Amazing work!
Na bro I can't. You are just grabbing my views at this point and I am here for it.
bro just trying to make a living ;)
@@sliverz_fx And I am so ready to watch it again
Wow! Soo cool man! Thanks! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching brother!
Xardas is in the intro bcoz he left the Circle of Fire after being trapped in the Barrier
best Polish game
XD
Do you have dobre pizda?
Way better than that German slop Der Hexxer
Only Poles will understand this one :D
Ale tak, Gothic to najlepsza polska gra xD
🤣🤣🤣
Hey! I played Gothic 3 Vanila and finished it 2 times.
And yes, the animals are watching the fight.
Did you know that you can throw items in gothic 1? :D
Go into the menu, hover over an item, hold click and press LEFT.
Amazing Work!
The music is just perfect
All hail the king Kai Rosenkranz!
Getting eaten by a sea monster is also in Risen 1. It was there so you didn't venture past that point in the sea.
It was a Militia raid I guess. He even talks about it.
@@vertigo7082 Oh, well, how could I have missed it. My mistake. Thank you for your reply 👍
@@vertigo7082 But even so, who are the people they raided, why, who are the corpses? This raises even more questions 😀
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames That is completely true! We know a raid happened and it sounds like it happened not that long ago, yet the corpses are already skeletonized. The corpses could be his accomplices.
Insane just how good a single game can be.
The cave mushroom story goes differently:
A long time ago I heared one of the devs say:
They were "Höhlenpilze=cave mushrooms" but the person who placed them did not place them only in caves but at some other locations too.
It's Xardas we hear in the Intro. He was still a member of the fire circle when the barrier was created.
Thats why the latter for fire mages is addressed to Xardas
I'll answer some questions about Arcania: Zyra is not Rhobar III's daughter. He took her in when she tried to steal from him in Mora Sul. Also why Xardas is alive in Arcania is never explained
Vertigo, I hope you are doing well, but we have bussiness to discuss - the Gothic remake showcase dropped and we need to talk about it, mate! Can't wait for your take on the gameplay showcase!
It's already in the works.
Really enjoyed it, especially because my opinion of G3 is very similar to yours.
extremely rare to find a video where someone puts some passion, that's just how gothic 1 is... it was made with passion, not some "muh triple A company" throwing a bunch of cash on graphics and zero storyline. Yeah, gothic is buggy and unfinished, plus the extremely headstrong dumb devs and community that refuse to speak english... but this is a 2 hour video with so much editing and in-game editing, not just "let's pay some guy to give us effects on the video". 2 hours with no "remember to like subscribe hit that bell icon" stfu.
tbh I do say that sometimes because too many people watch but don't subscribe. In my case it's only 15% who subbed.
On the other hand, yeah I get it, it sounds phony and I try to keep it to a minimum. Glad that you enjoyed it tho :)
16:10 ah yes devs used to care about this... Today most studios would struggle to make games with the fidelity of a 2010 title run smoothly on the most jacked up machine money can buy and I don't know what exactly happened.
Finaly a good video to listen to while enjoying my swampweed
very well done
13:02 its reference to a book. movie didnt come out until 2005
2 hours baby
Isnt Bodysurf Cheat that thing you can do with Marvin Mode On to switch bodies with a NPC by pressing "O"?
Yes
You can still get Dexter's name somehow without the bandit, forgot how, but I've done it all so.
Probably through Skip the pirate in the bay near Khorinis harbour.
😂 Vatras just wanted to get high. That's right.
Very good work, it was a nice bg listen at work :) Though im missing a section about the closed mine near the start site of Gothic 1. Also: where is the corpse cave in Jharkendar? Cant seem to find it.
Yeah I was looking for that cave in Jharkendar too but couldn't find any info on it. What do you mean with section about closed mine?
Maybe it got cut off during the editing, I advise watching the individual iceberg episodes then.
głęboko pod pustynną doliną, można ją zobaczyć na kodach, ale ciężko tam wejść, bo gra wywala cię wysoko ponad powierzchnię ziemi, raz tam wpadłam, był tam martwy mag, pewnie Myxir
1:13:25 This TOT cave is achievable without Marvin from other side of Great Orc Wall.
4:20 I am sure there is something wrong with the AI of animals , I had something similar happen to me at farm between Redock and Capedun where you beat up orc to save blacksmith, in one of my playthroughs either my mistake I started fight where with both orcs there and blacksmith guy and animals were watching the fight some chickens ever started to attack me it was ????? moment
The bodysurf cheat might be one activated with the "O" key.
25:55 seems xardas tower is sadly not hidden any better in remake
only at the end I realized there are actually 2 guys talking
I would like to get at least English subtitles because I can't listen in English that fast, my language is not good because I come from Poland and I would like to understand this video!
You can use automatic subtitles from UA-cam itself, some terms and names, of course, will be incorrect, but you can still understand :)
@@feel_like_im_hexed This translation is .... not good.
@@OfficialBeHolder well, no one will add subtitles to you, be content with automatic ones, I'm not a native speaker myself either, but I understood everything perfectly from the context
you should've been able to join the swamp camp after being kicked out of the old camp... imagine... knowing that they worship an evil being, and you become more of an evil character...
y2k its not that computers are not capable of showing 4 digits but mostly were doing 2 digits because when computers came out memory was expensive and all that. so the fear was that if something happened in 19(88) than in 20(00) computer would think that even didnt happen yet since 00 is less than 88.
So eventhough you can actually meet the Nameless One in Risen 3, they lather made it non canon, that the 2 universes are connected? I did not know that.
@@gergelybathory6425 the nameless one in risen 3 is the hero of Risen 1. No connection to Gothic there.
29:00 swamps are... hard. desert is much easier to make. it was resources that strike again
that cave under stone circle is way too small to hold a dragon... it would need to be enlarged. but ok i will believe it. so what was suppose to be final dungeon?
I dont know if "the sleepers ban" is the correct translation.
I mean "Bann" in this case means something like spell or hex and I dont know if "ban" has the same meaning in English.
43:40 not really. it he was one of those 12 magicians and that was 10-20 years ago. so any of those 12 would say "i was one of them" because group isnt active any more
Swamp is earth dragon and the one in the citadel is an air dragon right ?
Mountain fortress = Stone
Swamp = Swamp Dragon
New Camp = Ice
Old Citadel = Fire
@@vertigo7082 yea but old camp had fire mages = fire, new camp had water mages = water drake; swamp camp had gurus aka shamans and thus from earth, and the citadel had harpies, which are air right ?
9:45 what a mess in Jesse Lee Peterson style hahaha
12:29 in Polish translation his name was ulcer, that name fit him better.
my fav iceberg.
why would they hide xardas tower? It's a mysterious tower, asking you to explore it
Asking the player, yes but from a lore perspective Xardas chose the exile to be left alone.
So much info OMG! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Are you excited for the remake? A new trailer just got dropped a few days ago!
Oh sure! There are still some things that don't sit right with me but they are on a good path nevertheless.

Oh it does, you gotta read between the lines!
you're overthinking minecrawlers. The fact that cor kalom needs minecrawler mandibles, asks for something stronger, and you give him a minecrawler egg is plenty of proof... they are creatures of the "sleeper"
But that is still an assumption. There is no proof on that. Don't get me wrong, I would like a piece of lore that confirms or denies this theory, but for now it's just speculation.
very impressed by your ability to pronouce name of the arab dude in khorinis xD
Living in west germany taught me a lot of things some would consider ... unnatural.

Arcania just like Forsaken Gods is a non canonical spin-off.

Oh hell yes
I WANT AN EXPANDED KHORINIS MAP TO THE SOUTH!!!1 can someone please make it? I will pay $50 AUD for that mod, I hope other fans contribute too.
did u play gothic 2 returning 2.0 new balance?
1:30:50 not sadly... it looked silly. there are some other way better arts that sadly did not get into final design. but that particular tree was silly
