Rushton's take on "You are a very disobedient engine!" always put the fear of God up me when I was a littl'un. Great to hear it again thanks NewController01!
It's funny that they used this story in Series 2 even though they skipped Percy's Promise, so Percy is talking about something which hasn't happened yet in the TV canon.
A similar thing happened with Paint Pots and Queens. Thomas and Gordon are coming home from an event that happened like three seasons ago, and they even use the old footage. Obviously the show isn't meant to be in chronological order. More of an anthology than a true narrative.
And he recognizes a Jinty as one of the engines coming to help the Fat Controller at the end of the book, possibly even this Jinty. But Pug isn't at the turntable, so he had to have met him somewhere else.
Apparently Rev W Awdry was gonna make this the last book soooooo glad he didn't illustrator John T Kenney's first book love John's illustrations RIP John shame your eyesight faded and you have to stop after just six volumes
@93DOL John is my second favourite illustrator. I like Peter and Gunvor Edwards the best. I like his keen but not over done detail, and facial expressions. I like Edwards the best because of they keep everything in perfect scale, and the colour they give it.
Pity the TV version had Percy not crashing through the buffers and slithering into the sea but landing with a tiny splash in an overglorified puddle. Guess they couldn't help their limited budget though...
@SSBBMasterL5 TUGS came later between Series 2 and 3 of TTTE. I rather suspect it was only because TUGS wasn't a huge hit (iirc) that they went and made more Thomas and wrote their own material, thus supplanting the Awdrys. But this is an old bugbear of mine as fellow posters are all too aware!
TUGS was David Mitton's side project. It was sadly cancelled because Clearwater Features (the company that produced the first two series of Thomas) went bankrupt from making TUGS and also because the show didn't get an American backer. Britt Allcroft (who didn't like TUGS and attempted to sue Mitton) picked up Thomas with her eponymous production company and the rest is history.
Maybe it would make more sense for him to tell off Percy AND the trucks. The trucks for bumping Percy into the sea, and Percy for telling them do so, in the first place.
John T. Kenny is my favorite illustrator. It’s a shame his eyesight failed and he couldn’t continue, Awdry seemed very close to him.
Peter and Gunvor Edwards are good too, and Awdry was close to them too
It just goes to show that everything happens for a reason. Kenney's illustrations are great, but Edwards took it to the next level.
Same here

Christophee1987 Percy's Promise happened in season 3
Britt Allcroft wasn't famous for doing the stories in their proper order.
Percy is a time traveller and witnessed Percy's Promise.

Another example is _Bulls Eyes,_ which takes place in series 4 but is partially referenced in series 2's _Percy's Predicament._
I wasn't expecting Percy's song about henry to be in the style of Disturbed vocals

Percy: uh hi sir, nice day for a swim huh? I’m in trouble am I?
The Fat Controller: oh yes you are in more trouble than you think!
Love the 'Other Railway' engines, looks like there's an M7, a Jinty, and some other miscellaneous side tanks.
And some Midland tank engines

Percy's face is cursed in this book

Amazon, or some preserved railway gift shops. Good luck finding any of Christopher awdry's books though

Why does the fat controller blame the engines for things that are out of their control?
He doesn't. Percy should never have trusted the trucks, nor should he have planned to ignore the danger sign.
