  • Just a quick video where I review the Uniqlo UWHD coat, my thoughts, quality and if it is an excellent alternative to other expensive coats.
I hope you enjoy this video.
This is not sponsored. All garments are bought with my own money.

It might sound like a stupid question, but I like coats where the outer surface is hard, that it feels like a shell, I dont like coats where the surface feels soft. How does this material feel? For reference I had a carhartt anchorage parka and I loved the outer material

You wouldn't recommend to wear this on a hiking day (just like 4~5 hours) in -1 or so degrees with snow then?

I think for a short walk, it is ok. I have my doubts about how breathable this jacket is, but for a short walk, it could work. More than that, you need something more specific

Hi just found your review, interesting! Seems to be 3 different references for a similar coat on Uniqlo website. Do you know what is the reference number of this one ? I am wondering if they are really the same. Difficult to understand it sometimes. Thanks!

U said u don’t recommend it for mountains like -20 to -40 , ok for mountains or let’s say Churchill area in Canada , which jackets do you recommend ?

I don´t do trekking in winter, but when I go to the mountains in winter, I always use Northface; I know it is not the best, but I have one breathable (shell with detachable liner), and I trust more in layering, nothing fancy, I use heattech and works really well, keep me dry and warm. I went to Antarctica when I was in the army and we used the same type of approach

Hi there, great video! Just to clarify, which north face jacket where you talking about that is best for daily activities and moving around alot is it the artic down parka?
I have that one and I’m looking for something warmer, I heard this Uniqlo jacket has a great down fill power?

HI!! I own the McMurdo parka that I paid at the time, around 500 pounds brand new; I ´'ve been wearing this when I went to Andorra for skiing and very good.
This Uniqlo parka has the same level of protection as I come from Andorra and is very good indeed. Another thing it is not pure down is a mix that works well because at that price level usually uses a minimal amount of down and a lot of feathers (doesn't work well) and is a little heavier than the McMurdo. So I find myself wearing this parka more than the McMurdo. So far is holding well.

Hi!! I was wearing this jacket almost every day last winter, and I have no problem, I don´t know are you from, but here in UK the jacket holding well, not problem at all with the insulation. I got mine 1 year ago. sorry to hear that this jacket is not working for you. In my experience still going strong

You can always re-puff a down-filled jacket by putting it in a FRONT LOAD dryer with several tennis balls on very low heat or no heat for like 2-4 hrs. This trick works but just know that it takes HOURS in the dryer for this to work as intended. Also, I suggest washing it before doing this so that your dryer stays "clean."

I washed it on a washing machine with no softener and let it dry outside. I have done this in the summer to ensure that it is well-dried
