what makes the P25+ so amazing is that it has a huge sensor, and only 22megapixels, so the photo sites on the CCD are huge, and capture light in a way that newer backs cant match. It makes the sensors on the "new" Medium Format cameras like the fuji gfx and blad mirrorless look tiny. I got my P25+ back in 2009, for a steal at $9,500 lol, and use it on a 4x5 with a stitch back, and a fuji 680. It still out preforms my sony a7r3. Amazing back if you can fine one. Only downside is that it uses a firewire 400 connection for tethering, so I have to use an old laptop for any tethered captures.
I totally agree - the larger sensor makes for really unique images. I forgot to add it to my Pros but I love the fact that it's only 22mp. Plenty of size to crop some and no need to worry about filling up your hard drive :)
@@nathanhirschphotography871 yes, the file size is what i like about it, since i will stitch 3 frames to get full coverage of my lenses. I end up with plenty of resolution. Even the 22mp printed up to 20-24inches looks so good.
I have a P25+ and P30 for Hasselblad H and just absolutely love the color and detail I get from them. The P30 LCD screen has a bit of fungus in it but it’s still works perfectly. The P25+ is 22mpx but has a 1.1x crop. P30 sensor size is a bit smaller, similar to what you get on the newer fuji and hasselblad series. I would love to find a comparable back for my 500cm but they still tend to sell pretty high.
Thanks for the explanation! I just bought a second hand Phase One IQ140 for my Hasselblad 500cm and I am fingering out: is it possible to transfer the images directly via a cable to my macbook pro? Do I need a USB or Firewire cable, or can I use both? Thanks!
Hi this is so cool, thanks for the great video! I’m curious about the connector cable, will any flash sync cable do or do you need the cable with an 8 point connector? I got a p21 from a friend but it is missing the connector cable. The 8 point one is hard to find and very expensive
This is like American Borat. Ridiculous. Hilarious. Sometimes just plain wrong. Poor camera. Will be on eBay for $2500 under a “Ex ++++ rarely used” condition in no time. Two thumbs up! Ruin more cameras for content please!!
Interesting video. I was just interested in this combination of Hasselblad 500 with Phase One back because I want to continue using Capture One while using a Hasselblad. I hope back is worth that money.
Hi Edvinas! If you love using your Hasselblad with film you'll enjoy the convenience and overall quality of the digital back. It has some drawbacks which I'll cover in my next episode in more detail, but overall for the price it's well worth it.
I just came into possession of a Hasselblad H2 with a Leaf Aptus 54s digital back. Never dealt with a medium format camera before and I'm interested to see how it performs in comparison to my 5D Mark II. On paper it really seems like they are pretty close to each other in terms of resolution but I believe there is more dynamic range on a CCD sensor as opposed to CMOS? I'm not sure but I'd love any resources to look into for comparison.
can you help me.....I have a mint condition ETRSi Bronica....I want a digital film back.....Im going nuts trying to find information on anything for my Bronica
Hi Stratos, you can either purchase a specific focusing screen for the digital back that will show you the area captured by the sensor, or you can do what I do and just make a guess. After a while you get better at figuring out where the imager sits in the scene.
Shot with a Hassy with P20 at the Newsweek studio back in the day. Loved the square format of the P20. It was cutting edge back then but so was my 1Ds MKII.
A few things about your video. The music interferes with hearing what you are saying. The jumpy/swirly video is a real problem - causing a vertigo attack and dizziness while trying to watch. An umbrella over the camera is a smart move. A tripod with the center post extended is liable to induce more vibration than preventing it. A cable release to trip the shutter will make for sharper images than pushing by your finger - especially with the camera on the center post as raised.

Hey ! So I recovered about 15 P and P+ backs from an aerial photography buisness. I was really wondering how do you get the right exposure every time without a light meter ? Edit: what lens are you using ? I ordered a Hasselblad EL today on eBay and looking for an electronic lens

Hey Wilson! The Nikkor 300mm 2.8 and d3 would almost cover the cost of the new Hasselblad 907x, which blows these old digital backs out of the water...maybe not in overall image quality but DEFINITELY in terms of ergonomics and ease of use.
@@smichaelpridgen The back is really only designed for tripod use and handheld in good lighting conditions. Trust me, anything over ISO 400 will be grainy. If I were buying today I would go with the 907x/50c.
