    Hi this is so cool, thanks for the great video! I’m curious about the connector cable, will any flash sync cable do or do you need the cable with an 8 point connector? I got a p21 from a friend but it is missing the connector cable. The 8 point one is hard to find and very expensive

    Hi, how are you? Nice to greet you, my name is Diego, I am a photographer from Argentina, first of all, sorry for bothering you. I have a Hasselblad 500 C/M that belonged to my grandfather and I would like to put a digital back on it, I see you configured with a Pahase One P25, it is really something simple to configure? in Argentina there is no labor specialized if something complex had to be done to get it up and running and I don't want to spend that money on something that can't probably work, could you please tell me briefly about it, thank you very much and greetings from the very warmth of Buenos Aires.

    I have a P25+ and P30 for Hasselblad H and just absolutely love the color and detail I get from them. The P30 LCD screen has a bit of fungus in it but it’s still works perfectly. The P25+ is 22mpx but has a 1.1x crop. P30 sensor size is a bit smaller, similar to what you get on the newer fuji and hasselblad series. I would love to find a comparable back for my 500cm but they still tend to sell pretty high.

    I own a P25+ which I've been using with the H2 film body for almost 2 decades and although I also own an H5Dc 50mp I sometimes shoot with the P25+ because of the "look" especially when I don't need that huge file size the H5Dc produces. More importantly my clients never know the difference! When I print both files look amazing but there is something about the CCD sensor on the P25+ digital back. True, the batteries suck!

    I just came into possession of a Hasselblad H2 with a Leaf Aptus 54s digital back. Never dealt with a medium format camera before and I'm interested to see how it performs in comparison to my 5D Mark II. On paper it really seems like they are pretty close to each other in terms of resolution but I believe there is more dynamic range on a CCD sensor as opposed to CMOS? I'm not sure but I'd love any resources to look into for comparison.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 2 роки тому

    your issue @ 11:42 has an easy fix, these backs have what is called a "shutter latency" setting, so they can be used in mechanical cameras, like this and view /technical cameras, this works by allowing the 'wake-up' signal to be made via a one shot cable, or by a two shot cable ( a sync cable with a button on one socket plug)- this wakes up the back, giving you ~5 seconds to fire the shutter ( but you need to set the shutter setting in the back menu to LONG latency first!!), your best source of info is the Phase One web site, look under support, then find the digital back section, the P22/33/45 /P+ back user manuals are there, they are LONG winded, BUT at the rear section, after the how to use chapters, is sections dealing with this exact issue, connection/ sync with various electronic/manual cameras, this includes a picture of each cable needed, menu setup for syncing with it, including sync with flashes, caverts with this setup, ie what menus & settings are compatable with this camera pairing, viewfinder masks needed and plenty more!

    Thanks again, Nathan, these additional four minutes provide the conclusion which was missing from the first upload :-) As on the topic: I second that. When I started using zoom lenses (M42 mount at the given time) they promised portability. I remember having a 35-105 mm third party lens, but the quality would never live up to fixed focal length lenses. Also, it was the epitome of indecisiveness, cropping was mandatory in most cases. Nowadays I rely on fixed focus length glass that has turned "vintage" meanwhile, and it's rather a liberation than a lack of choice whenever I walk about with only one lens mounted. My favorite focal lengths are 20 and 35 mm on micro four thirds. The 20 suits pretty much the environmental street and reportage photography genre, while 35 comes into play for portraits. At times I would use a 105 mm macro on bellows and a 210 mm for wildlife photography. All lenses are adapted, with manual focus only and a crop factor of 2, compared to full frame equivalent. Some of these gems are even older than me :-)

    I bought a P25+ about 8 years ago and I love the image quality. There is something unique about these "fat pixel" CCD sensor backs. A couple of pros you didn't mention include the lack of an anti-aliasing filter and a dynamic range of almost 13 stops. These make for sharp images and I never have to bracket my shots. You mentioned losing 1 in 20 shots? I'm shooting with a Phase One DF body, and after more than 2K exposures I've never lost a shot. So I think this is an anomaly, not typical for these backs.

      Hi Stratos, you can either purchase a specific focusing screen for the digital back that will show you the area captured by the sensor, or you can do what I do and just make a guess. After a while you get better at figuring out where the imager sits in the scene.
