Greg Gibson is not that kind of umpire that will eject you and walk away; he's that kind of umpire that will eject you and tell you why ... to your face. Gotta respect an umpire for standing his ground.
I agree with the ump at 4:22. If your first two pitches are behind the player and then hitting the player, it's either intentional, or you need to not be pitching right now.
@@newyorktimes__6161 Even if it's not, it's clear that Lackey had no command of the ball and he was likely to hurt someone if he continued to pitch, intentional or not. Pulling him out was the right call.
8:15 was pure targeting the player. That second one was not a swing, he knew the player would react and he could then throw him out. Poor poor job on the umpire.
Yeah i don't like that all umps should be mic'd so that the league can see if a player getting tossed was justified or not based on what they can hear.
*Some of these umpires have WAY TOO SMALL of fuses*. This is why baseball isn't respected. Show any emotion, whether it be anger or too much celebration and you're THROWN OUT. That's why I want to stop playing, you're supposed to show emotion, not play with a straight face and no personality. This is why basketball and football are more popular and more fun
I can't sit down and watch a whole game but for some reason I love highlights of baseball. can somebody explain 2:53 that looks like a legit strike to me. it's over the plate, no?
Yeah, to be fair, the catcher may have made a slight movement to make the glove over the plate, so it would be a better chance if the umpire didn’t notice. But either way that’s definite borderline
You can disagree with the umpire and maybe argue, maybe. But if the umpire lets you it's usually for a couple seconds as well as no yelling or else you're gone. Disagreeing is okay as long as you don't exaggerate it by throwing your helmet or gear or something.
And throwing gear, unless it's at someone, SHOULD NOT result in an ejection. It should be a fine, not an ejection. Umpires that toss players for throwing equipment without intent are not following the usual protocol.
An ejection is when a player shows unsportsman-like conduct and the umpire has to throw the player out, or when a pitcher throws a pitch at a batter, then the umpire can throw the player out without a warning, unless if he's been hit intentionally.
I was there live for 4:12 it was crazy, Lackey was 2 pitches in lol. Kinda disappointing though as I wanted to see him pitch, being from the same town.
At 4:00 why on earth is the home team cheering him on for disrespecting the umpire and throwing his equipment?? I'm new to baseball so maybe I'm missing something but that seems so childish???
On the close call that Joe Juardi (I am not sure that is the proper spelling) got ejected over was a strike. Laz Diaz had it right. Oh, and by the way, Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire isn't motioning to both players and the Dodgers aren't celebrating in there dug out
4/17/12 MIN vs NYY- Span,Gardenshire 5/16/15 CIN vs PIT- Votto 6/2/13 SF vs STL- Molina, Matheny 6/10/15 KC vs MIN- Hunter, Molitor 5/16/09 LAA vs TEX- Lackey 7/20/15 BAL vs DET- Kinsler 5/5/14 NYY vs LAA- Girardi 8/24/10 HOU vs PHI- Howard 7/1/11 STL vs TB- Howell, Price, Johnson
@ruffo coyote - No, it shouldn't because then another element can enter the game and that would be dangerous. Argued calls a re reviewed by MLB and that enables MLB to keep the umpires in line.
On the case of Molina, him throwing down his helmet would have been fine (from what I know) that’s an equipment violation. You get fined, but not ejectable. If he said anything to the umpire down at first, that’s a different story. The only reason he went to the umpire was because he was ejected already.
I will never understand Lackey's logic in that LAA-TEX ejection. How can you make it more obvious? Why the very beginning of the game? What? None of this makes any sense!
That Howard ejection was completely justified. Showing up the ump not once but twice... you're gone. Ref wasn't baiting him, HOWARD was already warned before that.
I think not only do the umpires bait the players and have short fuses; some of the players are incessant whiners. After watching these I have little respect for Votto or Bryce Harper to name 2. True All Stars rarely get thrown out. The fact that so many do now speaks to the the umpires and the players.
Greg Gibson is not that kind of umpire that will eject you and walk away; he's that kind of umpire that will eject you and tell you why ... to your face. Gotta respect an umpire for standing his ground.
+WonderLandEmpire7 Nad he didn't even have a short fuse.
Not saying Not saying He motioned that short fuse to Span and Gardenhire and the yankees celebrated in their dugout
Get his ass whipped
I think Greg Gibson the Home Plate Umpire deserves a raise.
I agree with the ump at 4:22. If your first two pitches are behind the player and then hitting the player, it's either intentional, or you need to not be pitching right now.
I mean throwing behind once could be mistake, any more is intentional
@@newyorktimes__6161 Even if it's not, it's clear that Lackey had no command of the ball and he was likely to hurt someone if he continued to pitch, intentional or not. Pulling him out was the right call.
I love how umpires can put their hands all over a player, but if you breathe on an umpire wrong, that guy gets run.
I’m a Red Sox fan and I’ve never seen Girardi going crazy. That’s my favorite ejection.
The best part is around 6:40 when the coach throws his hat on the ground, picks it up, and throws it again lol
Ikr lol
What I don't like about the first one is that Span was finally content and was getting in his stance when he threw him out, not mid argument
Well...Umpires do have the egos the size of Neptune. Especially the one that ejected Howard and basically baited him.
Justin Sims And bellys the size of Neptune
why do umpires bait players?
hittingtax26 To show off their "authority" because they're insecure little bitches.
Let them take an ass beating
Berry after the first check swing immediately knew he was gonna ring Howard up if he checked his swing again, no matter how far he went.
4:44 - "Two pitches into his return" - and Greg Gibson was motioning to both of them.
While the fans boo at him.
It's the idiot Bob Davidson. What do you expect?
Is it just me or do I give the umpires that don't walk away mid argument a lot more respect than the ones that do
Pretty sure his birth certificate reads:
First Name: GregGibson
Middle Name: The
Last Name: HomePlateUmpire
Greg "the bitch" Gibson
8:15 was pure targeting the player. That second one was not a swing, he knew the player would react and he could then throw him out. Poor poor job on the umpire.
What? No comments about Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire?
You mean the legendary GREG GIBSON, THE HOME PLATE UMPIRE?
+David Veguilla INDEED, I DO!!! He must always be mentioned! To avoid doing so is blasphemous.
+Tie Greg Gibson should be mentioned.
I'm drunk and this is the greatest thing ever
Was that Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire?
motioning to both players?
+Orange Puppy 10 and now the dodgers celebrating in their dugout
Greg Gibson? The home umpire? "Doug Dimmadome? Owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome?"
At around 7:08, it looks like Joe Girardi is furiously making out with the home plate umpire.
Lol it does
Umpires throwing players out without reason
Yeah i don't like that all umps should be mic'd so that the league can see if a player getting tossed was justified or not based on what they can hear.
the ryan howard clip always fires me up
Baseball ejections are so dramatic but I love it
*Some of these umpires have WAY TOO SMALL of fuses*. This is why baseball isn't respected. Show any emotion, whether it be anger or too much celebration and you're THROWN OUT. Zaine If it isn't respected, why is it called America's favorite past time?
***** Nah man. Baseball will always be America's favorite past time. plus it's safer than baseball
***** Meant it's safer than football
***** True. But still.
susMaster77 Life’s linger without danger.
I don't watch baseball or the Yankees very much but 6:38 that's the first time I've seen joe girardi get that mad
Exactly
Nick Sacco it was a horrible cal too
Call*
He hasn't been that mad in public since.
4:04 is my favorite xD. Ive seen it on a ton of other compilations
If I was a MLB umpire I would eject Votto every time that I could.
I can't sit down and watch a whole game but for some reason I love highlights of baseball. can somebody explain 2:53 that looks like a legit strike to me. it's over the plate, no?
It looks like it could a little outside but it's a borderline call at best. It could go either way depending on the umpire and their strike zone.
Yeah, to be fair, the catcher may have made a slight movement to make the glove over the plate, so it would be a better chance if the umpire didn’t notice. But either way that’s definite borderline
I'm a big Giants fan, so it was nice for me to see the clip of Kershaw getting ejected at Dodger Stadium in the end
The umpires ways of saying "you don't like it? Get out!" And "You guys need to grow up!"
2:16 Mr Affleck moonlighting as an official
When the ball hits the plate umpire "HE DID IT ON PURPOSE,TOTALLY ON PURPOSE!"
I feel like some of these moments when they are standing a few inches from each other screaming, would benefit from some funny voice dubbing XD
My favorite managers since I've been alive- sparky, gardy, lasorda, McClellan, Torre and lou, and Girardi and baker
Some of MLB's most colorful managers
if you throw your equipment you don't deserve to be thrown out but issued a mandatory anger management class
i'm not familiar with baseball much, but it looks like poor sportsman ship and disagreeing with the empire gets you ejected. Is that right?
+High lvl
only in Star Wars
+David Mcneil lol that's great
+High lvl You can't argue balls an strikes. It's a rule and will get you tossed 80% of the time.
You'd be surprised, there are a lot of umpires that have a high patience level.
The umps always loved Sabathia for some reason. He was consistently given a strike-zone that was batters box to batters box.
the umpire made the correct call - tossing lackey out. clearly intentional.
Girardi throws his hat then picks it up ONLY TO THROW IT AGAIN
i love how they act like 5 year olds, you get paid to much for that
That is a attitude to win if you ever played sports you would know that.
Wow in one sentence I know you have no athletic ability whatsoever
@@bostonspencer2979 attitude to win doesn't fucking mean physically acting like a child jumping around and whining
Top 5 worst umps
Laz Diaz
Mark Wegner
CB Bucknor
Bob Davidson
Angel Hernandez
Honorable mention: Ron Culpa
Mike Everitt
U forgot about Joe west lol
+SayvilleFD157 I love country Joe
+Peter Johnson I love how we comment about the worst umps
Who are the best ones?
John Tompaigne?
GREG FUCKING GIBSON??!!
Can someone tell me what Span said to Craig Gibson please
So basically a compilation of temper tantrum players and egotistical umpires
giradi doing his best sweet lou impression.
Wait a minute, I thought throwing your equipment results in a fine, not an ejection.
theenglishman it's a stupid rule
Nope, ejection.
theenglishman it is both
FUCKING LOVE YOUR CHANNEL GREAT CONTENT
Let’s also talk about the players acting like 5 year old girls when a call doesn’t go their way.
Hey guys,
I'm not a baseball guy but I would love to learn more about it.
What is an ejection?
A ejecting is when a player or a coach argues or bad mouthes a ump
+Landon Rodgers ...Thnx buddy
when a player or coah do something that the UMP feels
maybe against the rules, and then is kicked out the game
An ejection is when a player shows unsportsman-like conduct and the umpire has to throw the player out, or when a pitcher throws a pitch at a batter, then the umpire can throw the player out without a warning, unless if he's been hit intentionally.
Major League umpires have way too much Authority
mike morales You will respect mah authoritay!
I watch these videos and it is always the same umpires.
Looks like a lot of umps are like a lot of cops, they're on a power trip and can't see past their own ego.
I was there live for 4:12 it was crazy, Lackey was 2 pitches in lol. Kinda disappointing though as I wanted to see him pitch, being from the same town.
good job on the compilation
Umpire flop at 2:10
I don't think I've ever seen kershaw ejected until now.
I can't believe Molina got thrown out. He must be one of the slowest players in the league xD
He is. Every time he hits one in the gap or has a chance to score an a base hit while at 2nd I immediately exclaim "he's so slow he's so slow"
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire.
Mentioning to both players, and the Dodgers celebrate in their dugout.
It's not a baseball if the umpire and manager are not in each other's face.
2:05 he didn't bump the Umpire the Umpire was being overdramatic
Yes he did
Hgyvtfygyhuh Ygihvutctvnininnin you need glasses . He made contact with his chest. A bump is not a shove.
You uh... you blind man?
"Apperantly he did something" This fucking guy
Umpires need thicker skins and less power
Span was ejected for "Contempt of Ump".
+Kenneth Busler Span chirped forever...it is painfully obvious he either has no self control or wanted to get tossed.
+Derek Cormier The twins do that all the time its a way to get the team fired up
that UMP is stoped
At 4:00 why on earth is the home team cheering him on for disrespecting the umpire and throwing his equipment?? I'm new to baseball so maybe I'm missing something but that seems so childish???
Best video i have ever seen
On the close call that Joe Juardi (I am not sure that is the proper spelling) got ejected over was a strike. Laz Diaz had it right.
Oh, and by the way, Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire isn't motioning to both players and the Dodgers aren't celebrating in there dug out
umps just wait until they are replaced with technology
Do umpires have eye exams on a seasonal basis?
I'll be glad when they get rid of the umpires nothing but a bunch of bullies just want to love to see a player knocked one down

@ruffo coyote - No, it shouldn't because then another element can enter the game and that would be dangerous. Argued calls a re reviewed by MLB and that enables MLB to keep the umpires in line.
@ruffo coyote - Gamblers getting their hooks into the umpires.
hell yeah tori. get your moneys worth!
in the first one I realized that the manger said you have anger issues
as a lifelong dodger fan I am pissed at scioscia....I never saw him run that fast with the dodgers then when lackey got tossed.
Not a short fuse by Gibson.....Spann would not stop.
Gardenhire probably should make up half the list (I haven't wathch it yet)
he got ejected on purpose to get the Twins fired up
Umpires can't take a normal conservation without throwing them out
On the case of Molina, him throwing down his helmet would have been fine (from what I know) that’s an equipment violation. You get fined, but not ejectable. If he said anything to the umpire down at first, that’s a different story. The only reason he went to the umpire was because he was ejected already.
2:23 That’s a safe .-.
Looks like the Umpire want to be the center of the attention
I think they just want to be players but fail.
If the baseball goes down the middle of the plate it's a strike or if it goes outside it's a ball
😂😂😂 that is just so funny
Good vid
If you bump an umpire, 50 game suspension without pay
Please Add girardi gets tossed
I will never understand Lackey's logic in that LAA-TEX ejection. How can you make it more obvious? Why the very beginning of the game? What? None of this makes any sense!
Here for Bobby Cox
Why was Girardi arguing a strike 1? If it was a strikeout I'd be mad but come on he's got some major anger management issues.
6:34 dude looks like a Bond villian
lmao 6:07 hes boxing kinsler out
I came here to see what I saw, and what I saw, I've seen.
See?
Is that Greg Gibson the home plate umpire motioning to both teams ?
And the Dodgers celebrate in their dugout?
wonder how far these guys park away from the stadium.
That Howard ejection was completely justified. Showing up the ump not once but twice... you're gone. Ref wasn't baiting him, HOWARD was already warned before that.

In the first clip it’s funny how the announcer said span does curse then he says bullshit
9:46 that was B.S he shouldn't have been ejected
That was bs
Umpires need to start getting fined for things like the Ryan Howard situation because that check swing call was such bull
Why was Lackey ejected? I don't think the ball hit the batter.
As a non baseball fan, I don't get the joke with the home plate umpire. Lol help
davfernape GREG GIBSON the HOME PLATE UMPIRE MOTIONING TO BOTH PLAYERS used to play at the end of every MLB.com video for months as a promo.
How about walk offs on the away team's broadcast?
