In a phone, people usually put their head down, while in a screen you are still distracted but not the same as putting your head down as you can go back and fourth scanning. The problem is teens are just glued to their screens.
I`ve had several transits, a sprinter and now a vw crafter. I know they`ve improved over the years, but they have the engine with the dreaded wet belt that breaks down and blocks the oil pump, goodbye oil pressure, goodbye engine. I`ll stick with my crafter.
Hello from New Zealand. We have Ford E Transit on trial with St Johns Ambulance. The Ford E-Transit comes with a 75kWh battery, a 198kW/430Nm motor, and a claimed range of 250km range.
as someone who spends all day in vans going up and down the country we will never ever be getting and electric van ever my 7 hour day would become 15 hours days
It's a fair point. They aren't suitable for someone regularly doing so many miles but I bet 90% of Transit owners could charge overnight at home cheaply and never have a problem.
Sorry, not a fan of the front styling. The proportions look somewhat wrong, maybe because of the slanted bonnet. I have no problem with the rear styling, though I do think Ford can do a better job integrating the light clusters to the body panel. I know Ford can do it well.
To me this score shows what true cars are about. The van does what it is supposed to do and does it very well. I have a Prius and it does what it is supposed to do, very well. Someday soon I would like to get a manual WRX, to feed my soul. Great review
I'll keep bumbling about in my Mk2. It gets me where I need to go, and customers love to see it. I paid strong money for it, but it'll always hold it's value. I really don't lie the front of these, and the screen is a huge detractor. I've just realised - my van doesn't even have knobs, just sliders!
What a crazy idea. Running a belt inside the engine in hot oil. My friend has 3 of them and has been advised to put them in for a service every 6 months. Yes that'll get rid of debris falling off a degrading belt but it won't stop the belt from degrading. I was looking to buy a Transit Custom to convert to a camper. Changed my mind on that one ! Timing CHAINS are supposed to last the life of the engine. Which would I choose? ? ? Hmmmmmm let me see . . . . . . Jim
To be honest, with the lower roof - I think that it makes the vehicle look much more American in style. I understand why they have gone with the lower roof, in my own opinion they are trying to compete with the likes of the Peugeot Expert, Citroen Dispatch, Vauxhall Vivaro and Volkswagen Transporter. Back in 2016/17, Peugeot launched their all-new style Expert very much taken from the VW Transporter and of being part of the Stellantis Group Citroen and Vauxhall invariably followed a couple of years later (in Vauxhall's case).
Drivers seat is fixed height Not adjustable unless it's the top spec and if your too tall seating position is crap Also it's too complicated as all touch scrren Current transit 72 plate does close to 600 miles to tank
41k for a box on wheels what a rip off , in 2015 the new transit custom started at 18k fast forward 10 years and it’s more than doubled in price and at the same time gotten smaller as a van
To all intents and purposes, it is the 'normal' Transit. I don't know why they've added the Custom name. It's the regular Transit in terms of size and shape and I'm sure will sell the best.
@@drawwithdan5821 The "Custom" name was originally used for a trim level. Not sure if it first appeared on the MK1, but it was certainly on the MK2. I would assume the name was brought back, partly to differentiate the new "smaller" model from the full size Transit, and partly because "Custom" sounds fancy!
No……… sorry 😢 I feel disloyal……. but I don’t like it. There’s an element of the fact that it was a stalwart of Ford GB production that the EU, using our money, enticed the whole production to a non EU country, Turkey…… destroying Fords van production in the UK for ever. Personally, I thought the previous Custom shape and rear lamp treatment was handsome……. this new one is too generic, could be Korean, Chinese or Malaysian. As for the electric one, let’s just say I have 45 years in the trade, in areas that fleets trial new products and technology……….. and, no. They fall far short. Ford - could try harder. Love seeing VBH, Jason and Rory…….🎉🇬🇧
@@t8polestarcyan22 You can't in the UK😕 We have the choice of a Proace City, Proace (which would be the equivalent to a Transit Custom), and Proace Max, all three of which are rebadged Citroen/Peugeot/Vauxhall models
@@badbusdriver7160 Toyota Hiace have been very popular in New Zealand as well as Australia due to price tag and total dependability. That was until brands like Mercedes, Fiat, Renault and Ford Transits came with similar price tag. Those brands started to pick up popularity.
Yeah this is great but at £41+! No wonder the trades cost so much just to “have a look”. Yes a great van but at that price to cover in sand and crap? . tech screen will break as you cram in those extra bits or your apprentice decides to put his feet on the dash. I’ll show my age now but I had trade person 1 came shiney van, all the gear and very clean designer screw fix clothes arm full of tattoos. Cost a fortune didn’t fix my issue. Proper tradesperson came, bit rusty but clean van, scruffy jeans and a screwdriver. Fixed it less than half the price of my stylish tradesperson.
My work van has had constant battery issues, going in soon to hopefully be sorted, touch central locking doesn’t work, also if you have bought one check your engine oil, I had to top up over a litre!
@ghostrider67 I don't use a van, it's just what fleet drivers tell me that they are rubbish. Spoken to one driver that said that they had 2 EV transit vans. Both drivers returned them after a week. Only did about half the normal work that week, waiting to charge was the problem, only getting 90 miles per charge. Vans do about 300+ miles day, company bosses not happy. ALL diesel fleet again now and never going electric bosses told drivers. Also the problem of parking overnight, insurance for company stopped parking EV vans at depot overnight because of fire risk. I'm hearing that elsewhere.some Business insurance won't cover EVs on site. I was told that by my insurer 18 months ago. No EVs parked or charging station aloud on site. Won't bother me, I'll never have a EV of any sort.

Dodgy wet belt in diesel.

I totally get your point. Even a friend of mine has gone back to ICE because EV isn't as good as most people claimed to be.

I’m yet to drive the new custom. I have a 2020 sport and it’s fantastic. Owned it from new, 22k miles and I can’t grumble.
Can you still get an 8x4 sheet in the back ?
Have they fixed the hinges on the rear doors that get stiff
Probably ,but they’ve took away the check straps and created another problem haha

The best team awesome to see you back❤❤
Except for Rory. Useless.
It's a beauty. And the auto is pretty decent. Well better than the vivaro/Peugeot crap. Only bug bare is the lane keep assist is a bit OTT.

55l fuel tank is unacceptable. Is the engine still a wet belt design?
I think so but I’ve seen them do over 300k miles which is surprising

A 55 litre tank is very small, considering the old one was 80 litres.
