The dance pro was adorably star-struck when meeting Dick Van Dyke on a special occasion, and it turns out the feeling was mutual! Derek performed for the Hollywood legend’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, which airs June 6 on CBS, and afterward he got to spend time face-to-face with the man of the hour, where they both shared admiration for each other’s work!

Dick Van Dyke is a true legend! And the original Mary Poppins a legendary film.
Yep. Absolutely one of the all time greats.
1st of all he is in really great shape for just being 95 and 2nd of all he is just a pure talent as well as a joy and a gift to our world. It’s really cool that he still wants to work.

yes. he says he does yoga and other things to stay in shape. He still sings and dance at 95 and I think he will make it to 100. Hes always got a smile on his face. I guess when he leaves here woth that s ile on his face. Im glad the honored all those people while they are still.alive.

my hero, truly. The DVD show is one of my favourites, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, the Art of Love… this man has done everything he ever wanted to do and didn’t let anything stop him (including being so poor at one point he couldn’t afford a motel room). I love him so much.
I even enjoyed seeing him as one of the "villains" in the 'Night at the Museum's series. He is a living treasure.

Actually, I thought Mary Poppins to be a weak film. Julie Andrews should never have even been nominated for an Oscar, let alone win. But the one bright spot for me was this guy named Dick Van Dyke. He brought so much energy and charisma to every scene.
I shall always love DICK VAN DYKE AND HIS SWEET FAMILY, I'll never forget when my relatives family lived in Arizona, I got to meet Dick Van Dyke Barry Van Dyke his Son and Stacy Van Dyke his Daughter, at an antique car auction in Scottsdale Arizona, and they were the sweetest most lovable people and very super kind. And I was a kid at the time in my teens late teens, and it was funny too because it was like being in the Land of the Giants, they are so much taller than me. Dick Van Dyke we love you guys and you folks and your family forever! ❤️

it had a profound effect on my mind and soul! And Dick was one of the

I remember seeing Mary Poppins when I was quite young and absolutely hating it. Even as a young person, I saw it as catering to an audience that lived it's life in priviledge. The movie was shown to us at a school celebration, and we could not do anything but, sit tight and watch.
These sort of movies are for people in countries where they don't have real life problems such as finding drinking water, food and shelter ... there just seemed to us that the movie had no redeeming value.
Lighten up. It's only a movie.
