19.10.24: You've probbably already seen the news - Goggles 3 O3 Airunit - problem is finally fixed with a public firmware (thanks to all of the brave FPVers testing many packs on the beta FWs). I upgraded my G3 to 1.0.5 today and took the chimera4 for a quick tour around the house. Even in lower bitrate situations behind the house it was buttery smooth and of course I had no blackout. Sounds like the G3 can be trusted now - really looking forward to using the new goggles more. Will not sell or decommision my Gv2 tho - they have better? longrange antennas on it - and it remains to be tested if I get the kind of range also from the stock antennas included in the G3. greets and have a nice weekend, Mario

The silence from DJI is certainly not helping their image, and moreover, there should be some responsibility/liability on their part for not doing their due diligence on the upgrade, which has resulted in a serious safety issue. Yep, I agree. I thought they are outdated - but seems besides being bulky they have the best set of options. You can have best possible antennas, old air units, O3, reliable...

I bought the DJI Goggles 3 in July when a firmware update made it possible to fly the DJI Air 3 with the Goggles 3. It was a huge disappointment! Many things that work with the RC 2 controller don’t work when you fly the Air 3 with the goggles. I complained at DJI, but until now they didn’t fix it. Then a new firmware made it possible to fly the DJI O3 Air Unit with the Goggles 3. I bought the O3 to put it on a plane, but then I heard about the bug that you cannot get the connection back without disarming. This is unacceptable. I just installed the O3 into a quadcopter that I fly in close proximity. DJI: please fix it SOON.
DJI Air3 was one big reason for me as well. When I reviewed the Avata2 and had the G3 for a few days, I hated the RC situation on Air3+G3 - but still I loved the FPV feeling I could suddenly get out of my DJI flying cam :) tomorrow I should get my RC Motion 3 that I need to fly the Air3 at least. We'll see how long it will take until I can use the G3 on all of my O3 copters and planes and save some room in my backpack - while having better screens. It's not all bad - but still, the bug is annoying and a show stopper...
Thanks !! Yes, I am also very disappointed with this situation. I'll postepone the purchase of the goggle3 until DJI fix this issue. For now, I will continue flying with my goggles2. In any case, do you notice any difference in range and penetration compared to the v2?
That's disappointing to hear. It seems to be very hit or miss with DJI. I still have the original V1 goggles with Vista and original Air Units. Been waiting for the right moment to upgrade. But this is making me start thinking about the other digital systems instead.
Its sad that some people have the issue - I have flown over 80 packs since the goggles 3 became compatible with the 03 air unit and works fine for me. I use elrs and a radiomaster boxer and flies pretty well. I hope DJI gets everyone an update and makes the unit safe to fly.
Looks like not all systems/combinations are affected by the reconnect bug? Can you try to test with the armed copter on the bench and then turn on goggles 3 and tell me if you can get a connection?
@@RcschimHello - I am not sure if that is the correct mode of operation for the goggles with the quad but doing that does not establish the connection to the O3 air unit. I believe that is a separate issue or functionality, feel free to correct me as I am new to fpv. As to what the majority are facing as I understand is where they lose connection during flight and the link between the goggles and the O3 fails to reconnect. In my scenario I have never had a connection loss in over 80 packs of flight and I have flown the copter through obstacles to have some buffering on the video link but never lost connection.
Hi, this is the easiest test if the goggles 3 would connect to an armed drone (which needs to be done if you loose connection mid air completly and the 2 devices need to re-connect once range and reception is sufficient. You can do another test (pls with Props off!): same quad on bench, this time normal connection to goggles, arm copter, walk away with the goggles far enough (behind building, rock...) to actually LOOSE the connection completly, and then walk back a bit into range to see if it would re-connect. For me it didnt. And that's the main issue. As to how easy the conncetion breaks - this seems to vary (based on copters, RF environment, pure luck...)
@@Rcschim I get what you are trying to say with the second test scenario and I am sure if I were to walk away far enough and lose connection it wont reconnect. But the fact being is that in mid flight without any obstruction or obstacles there are situations where the signal drops and doesnt reconnect to some. I have had a couple of instances usually during the first 30 seconds of taking off I get a black screen for a few seconds on my goggles during flight and then I get my video link back but I am not sure what that scenario is. I am lucky I guess to not have such severe issues. I also have removed the sbus yellow wire from the o3 cable since I dont use the dji remote - perhaps some might find that info useful.
one more question: does your O3 automatically start recording when you arm your copter (this is a sign that MSP TX/RX is setup correct) - or do you need to manually record?
Oh yes, there's one major issue: if they don't get the arming signal of an FC, they will never transmit at full power. Not even if they have low power mode disabled. Check madstechs video, he proved this using a spectrum analyzer...
The problem is that with the O3 in disarmed mode it may not be broadcasting enough RF to actually re-establish the link with the googles anyway so that's unlikely to work.
I’m new to DJI only because I resisted adopting their ecosystem since I began FPV. I finally pulled the trigger on Goggles 3 when they announced o3 Air unit compatibility. It’s been shelved since mid September and I never flew it. I decided to leave a comment on the DJI site out of frustration asking one of the admins if they were a bot and I haven’t received an answer yet. I’m shocked by their lack of communication with the FPV community. I’d like to know if anyone from DJI ever directly communicated with Mads Tech. I still believe we're mostly getting answers from bots and that DJI is just buying time so they can fix it or not when they please. I’m going to keep and eye on their chat just to see.
Yep, these days it's quite tempting for many ppl to use chatGPT for answering mails. I kinda developed a 6th sense where I can smell mail replies written in too good of an English from china ;) sometimes I confront them with this and I see how the sales guys and girls get red behind their screens ;) calm down chatGPT bots in online forums where a shitstorm is about to happen - those are weird times we life in ;)
I was excited when they released the firmware and ready to buy drones with O3 air unit but now, it is a disappointment. Glad I've not bought a drone and continued flying my analogs. I guess I delay buying it for an unknown time.
I somehow have the the feeling the problem gets worse with every flight. Yesterday I had each flight 4-5 disconnects (I use GPS and RTH when it happens), before it was every flight maybe once.
do you use auto channels? try setting it to a fix channel 1 / 40mhz in FCC mode - and see if this helps. I think if it's in auto mode (which would normally be the better choice) it could decide to switch channels if reception is not optimal, and looks like it cannot re-connect on the new channel? just an idea... please report back here if you have less dropouts with manual channel selection, thanks!
@@RcschimI did manual channels for a couple of flights and it got much worse. But the disconnect was somehow predictable, the link quality drastically dropped before the disconnect
That's the issue with DJI, Mario... Their products are usually too buggy in the beginning and they take too much time to solve the issues. When they do, of course. 😕 It's a real shame. But we shall see what happens. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks Mario. Actually, quite soon after 2019 when DJI air units hit the market, this has been a very reliable video Link for me. This time tho this is unacceptable

If you look at how DJI has behaved in the past this problem will never be fixed for the O3. They will just release a new version like O4 and never look back. The O3 has now been put on my "never buy" list
Never had Goggles, but they have been very responsive when i wanted to fly in a control zone at the airport here (had clearance from tower), but the tech department is way behind. Just bought a Dji Neo just for interest and i have controllers from other Dji's - cannon bind - no way. (it is supposed to do). Tech department ask me to send video of the process - i did that but no solution. Se on forums that other people have the same problem. Maybe a long lunch is taking place?....
It's all very annoying as usual. I've owned every version of DJI goggles and sold them all except the Googles V2. It's a personal preference, but despite all the new features of the 2 and 3, I find the V2s are the best for me and they work with everything DJI (well mostly). A bit heavy and not quite as high res as the others, but a great refresh rate.
Users would have easily forgiven DJI for this had DJI handled this professionally by acknowledging the problem and issuing a public statement. Instead their patronising support staff spread misinformation and gaslit loyal customers. What a terrible PR gaffe.
Hi Juz, thanks all (asides from some DJI tech hickups) is well here. Hope down under as well? We're changing summer season over to your hemisphere soon. greets, Mario
Hallo Would you be able to check your goggles for dead pixels? I'm currently in a bit of a battle with DJI over my Goggles 2, which have dead pixels, and as far as I know, the Goggles 3 use the same panels. In their official response, DJI told me they don't have goggles without dead pixels, which is quite funny. I'm planning to make a video on this topic. I would really appreciate it if you or anyone reading this comment could share your experience regarding dead pixels on DJI goggles. The easiest way to check is on a bright, uniform background .Warm greetings to everyone flying. Take care and stay safe. Of course, thumbs up for the great content😊
Yep, from mads techs Livestream it sounds like he's quite confident they will have a fix soon. I fly with the Gv2 in the meantime and have something to look forward to (using my new goggles 3).
Lost video on this flight! Along with many.. Very Random with mine, DJI has my log files and working on fixing it. This flight video fail was at the landing. Very close! ua-cam.com/video/peLahGxaOS0/v-deo.htmlsi=KOyaMsJptUUURZX2
Since known issue, keep an eye on the video signal strength and don’t fly out of range. I know people bought this combo for long distance flying but unfortunately it’s not up to the task. Still has decent range and penetration. Just not what we are use to from DJI.
DJI ecosystem is not healthy for wallet, they hardly backwards and forwards compatible, too many RC (aerial and FPV), too many Goggles, but can't corporate each other. I'll keep my G2 and won't upgrade anymore, vista and O3 was enough.
Yep. Spot on. I still use DJI V1 HD FPV goggles, and I will never get over the fact that they made V2 goggles compatible with O3 but not V1. I refuse to ever buy more DJI kit for FPV, probably anything else either.
on side note theres to much wifi to much signals in the world todayh too that does not help 5g 4g wifi boosters every home has wifi is a transmitter cell towers etc etc.. we are in a sea of signals only way youll get long range now is if you live in a desert and no one around but still you have satalites beanming down radar and internet etc
I realize you had good intentions when making this video but it is 100% untrue. You are indicating that this is happening to everyone. This is not the case. There are many people that are not experiencing this problem. I tested mine many times and when I walk away until disconnect it comes back right away (without disarming and rearming). On many FB forums people have mentioned that they are not having this problem either. I would guess that the people having the problem are overwhelmingly in the minority because people not having a problem generally dont complain about it :). I feel like you are blindly following Madtech who is full of shit at least half the time.
Hardly 100% untrue. He could have said it has happened to some users. I would be pretty unwilling to fly expensive quads with that setup until the issue was better understood and proper fix was done. Also its pretty clear that Ian has spent a fair amount of time looking a RF behavior with a spectrum analyzer while this is issue is happening. So I do not think he is full of anything. So what do you think people should do? Just ignore it? Please elaborate.
Please read my info box and perform the copter on bench, arm and then goggles on test. Then tell me (or better make a video) where we are that your googles 3 connect to the already armed DJI o3 unit. Include Firmware numbers. This could actually help the community in debugging this, instead of just talking bad about ian who puts s lot of effort and time into this
@@Rcschim I dont need to retest this because I already did. I showed a video to Madstech and he refused my very clear video showing my quad armed and showing it reconnect. He just wants as much drama as possible and having this problem happen with every single unit is more drama. He did the same thing with the Avata Yaw issue. He couldnt reproduce the problem so he faked it in a video. When I called him on it and showed him the evidence in his own video, he just started spewing non-sensical BS. I am not saying the problem doesnt exist for some people, just dont trust Madstech blindly.
@@Rcschim Furthermore, you dont think that when DJI put out this firmware that they tested it? if the problem was happening on every single unit they would have clearly caught the problem during their testing and not published it. You need to do your own thinking and not trust some other people as your bible.
that's a shitty attitude ;) please test this: arm your copter on the bench without props, THEN power on goggles 3, see if your goggles can connect to the running copter. alternative: while copter is armed on the bench, walk away with connected goggles and go behind enough objects to the signal finally drops out, walk back a few steps into good range and see if video comes back. please report your findings (including firmware versions). That's how you can be helpful - instead of talking down on the poor pawns that cant afford shiny DJI jewelery...
@@StevieDronas I'm not talking bad about poor fellow FPVers because they cant afford DJI HD. Iˋm just talking bad about analog FPV because out of personal preference I cannot go back to this stone age image transmission :)

Thanks for creating content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. Happy flying amigo. 🫡 🍻
I know that some of my buddies are also fine with the fit of goggles integra - it's just a bit too small and tight for me. I wanted to buy the G3 since a longer time now (also because they work with my DJI Air3 and this is a great experience as well) but the price was way to high until now.
It's a real shame. But we shall see what happens.
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks Mario. Actually, quite soon after 2019 when DJI air units hit the market, this has been a very reliable video Link for me.
This time tho this is unacceptable
I will stick to the old tried and true poverty FPV ( analog ) I just stared using ROCK and TURK VTX's and Life is looking good ! 😂
actually made me think, we should do a roll call of people flying old gear, whats still flyin fine and how long etc. i have goggles v2 and two vistas one is 3.5 years old and one is 2.5. two mamba f405 stacks one is 4,5 years old and one is 3 years old. tbs tx flawless 4.5 years, xing e motors rockin 4 years. flysky nirvana with tbs lite. oh and all the cheapest chargers known to man 7 years old.
@@BrainDeadEngineering I found with the analog adapter for v2 Analog nearly as clean as the Vista..
@@sleepingbear6116 I believe that ! but they don't have focus adjustment ! ( I really wish I had oled googles , I know the feed would be so impressive ! My Cobra X's are so outdated !(
Almost 60 days without fix
330 € was scam ;) I saw the ad too and bought one. Amazon then canceled the purchase.
Thanks for that info! Glad Amazon sorted this out for you, and this confirms my thoughts on that 50% offer ;) It was just 1 day after my 550€ Goggles were delivered so I was pissed for a few minutes. In the end this prevented you from buying (currently) useless goggles (unless you just wanna fly avata2 and sorts).
still rocking my v1 orqas
So am I. 🙂 Not a glitch in 4 years.
a shame , i have goggles 2 and they perform so well , just dont like that it doesnt have the built in eye focus adjustment's and i have to wear reading glases to use them , amazing DJI cant fix this somewhat simple problem
If you look at how DJI has behaved in the past this problem will never be fixed for the O3. They will just release a new version like O4 and never look back. The O3 has now been put on my "never buy" list
I hope you're wrong. If you're right, I think the community will step in and root those goggles and make them 10times better (like WTF os did).
Best goggles...
Just need to solve the connection issue with the 03 air unit.
Yes, I really wanna like them. Flew the air 3 with it today. Awesome image quality and range (even in ce mode).
I'm confident that Dji will fix this!
Mario
I know you don’t fly dji products but have you heard if it does the same to these models ?
I do fly DJI air 3. It has a really good cam (2 of them actually).
No, on DJI o4 transmission, there's no reconnect problem as far as I know.
I agree and I really like them v2s a lot as well. One reason for me besides the lower price now was the Air3 experience, which is awesome
Users would have easily forgiven DJI for this had DJI handled this professionally by acknowledging the problem and issuing a public statement. Instead their patronising support staff spread misinformation and gaslit loyal customers. What a terrible PR gaffe.
Hey Mario. Hope you're well my friend.
Hi Juz, thanks all (asides from some DJI tech hickups) is well here. Hope down under as well? We're changing summer season over to your hemisphere soon. greets, Mario
I'm done with DJI; I've been a customer for years, but not anymore
Comments like these help to show DJI how much they fucked this one up - and that the DIY community shouldn't be ignored!
Dji couldn't even get the OSD right i fly V1 and enjoy those genius WTFOS who should get a reward from Dji....lets see Walksnail is getting better..
Tag DJI in the description!
Hallo
Would you be able to check your goggles for dead pixels? I'm currently in a bit of a battle with DJI over my Goggles 2, which have dead pixels, and as far as I know, the Goggles 3 use the same panels. In their official response, DJI told me they don't have goggles without dead pixels, which is quite funny. I'm planning to make a video on this topic. I would really appreciate it if you or anyone reading this comment could share your experience regarding dead pixels on DJI goggles. The easiest way to check is on a bright, uniform background
.Warm greetings to everyone flying. Take care and stay safe. Of course, thumbs up for the great content😊
Eh, I'm sure they will sort it out
Yep, from mads techs Livestream it sounds like he's quite confident they will have a fix soon. I fly with the Gv2 in the meantime and have something to look forward to (using my new goggles 3).
Lost video on this flight! Along with many.. Very Random with mine, DJI has my log files and working on fixing it.
This flight video fail was at the landing. Very close!

@dji let’s fix this issue
No wonder they dropped that price! lol
sounds like a you problem, serio;y expecting a company to fix something that's not on there product when you demand it is pretty shit

Dji are concentrating on war drones the market is falling to bits
👍
I realize you had good intentions when making this video but it is 100% untrue. You are indicating that this is happening to everyone. This is not the case. There are many people that are not experiencing this problem. I tested mine many times and when I walk away until disconnect it comes back right away (without disarming and rearming). On many FB forums people have mentioned that they are not having this problem either. I would guess that the people having the problem are overwhelmingly in the minority because people not having a problem generally dont complain about it :). I feel like you are blindly following Madtech who is full of shit at least half the time.
Dude stop this. Until you provide a video. no one will believe you!
I haven’t had a problem yet. Analog is for poor people. That’s who’s complaining the most. DJI is king. Just say you can’t afford it 🤷🏼♂️
that's a shitty attitude ;) please test this: arm your copter on the bench without props, THEN power on goggles 3, see if your goggles can connect to the running copter.
alternative: while copter is armed on the bench, walk away with connected goggles and go behind enough objects to the signal finally drops out, walk back a few steps into good range and see if video comes back. please report your findings (including firmware versions).
That's how you can be helpful - instead of talking down on the poor pawns that cant afford shiny DJI jewelery...
@@Rcschim you’re one of them 😂
@@StevieDronas I'm not talking bad about poor fellow FPVers because they cant afford DJI HD. Iˋm just talking bad about analog FPV because out of personal preference I cannot go back to this stone age image transmission :)
I'm sorry you're having this issue. I hope DJI fixes this quickly. Fortunately for me, I am satisfied with the Goggles Integra. It works great so far with both of my 03 Air Units. I considered getting the Goggles 3 but was dragging my feet because of the price. I hope this changes soon and you can depend on your system with confidence.
Saw it for 550€ at flywoo (after the terribly $ to € conversion) and couldn't resist. Would have waited a bit longer if I had read this thread more carefully before buying them ;)
@Rcschim You're a well-respected creator in this community. I'm confident that DJI will eventually address the concerns expressed by the experts representing the consumers. I just hope they act quickly enough for you to enjoy your nice weather. Happy flying, my friend. 🫡 🍻
Hmmm.... let me see.... how can I respond to this....???
*ANALOG FOR THE WIN* 😛
Analog is great for blind people.
@@ddegn Just like the Goggles3/O3 combination right now 🙂
Hehe, of course this response had to come from you ;)
If love to fly retro analog and keep it super simple, unfortunately I'm allergic to the bad resolution and image quality, can't go back anymore (tried a few times) ;)
@@Rcschim Actually I've got a couple of *really* good analog setups that always surprise me with their performance and quality of the image when I use them. Old analog sucks but the best analog is still pretty damned good to be honest.
I agree - the best analog video I can remember was on the Immersion RC Vortex copters. Very clean and in combination with their rapid fired VRX Module on Dominators - this was actually useful. Or clearview form Jellowjacket? Or Oracle something...
