Just re-iterating that Alpinestars had zero involvement in today's video! I've bought my own boots from them for years and we now proudly sell them on our store because we trust and believe in the product! shop.yammienoob.co/collections/shoes/products/alpinestars-smx-s-boots
Your closing notes ring super true. When you're prepared with the right gear it lets you get in a mode and mindset. There's a combo for everyone to really bring the asphalt warrior out.
Hello Everyone ( and Yammie ) I am a beginner rider and just bought my first bike 2 weeks ago (Honda nc700). I am riding in a 2 piece leather racing suit from alp-stars and the same boots as in the video. I quess my choice of boots is really good haha. I wanna thank you Yammie for your video's beacsue they teach me quiet alot. For example the hand / feet qestures. I am really happy with my first bike and hope to learn alot more in the world of a rider!! Safe travels everyone!! greets from The Netherlands :)
Welcome to the family brother , keep in mind that you'll come to a stage were you'll want more gears you don't actually don't waste your money on useless stuffs and think properly before you buy
As a youth I once (or twice) road in Allstars... until my foot caught the ground (riding like a duck) and folded under the foot-peg. Fortunately I stood the bike up before the road shaved my big toenail off! It's boots every time for me - still riding after 50 years.
Just started riding a few months back after a gap of 26 years riding a commuter bike. I use ankle height TCX shoes for riding Triumph Street Triple. All that is said in this video is so true. Confidence, control etc is really good with the foot position described in the video….. Naveen Reddy, Hyderabad, India Liked your video about riding in India 😊
I tried on a bunch of AlpineStars boots and couldn’t get any of them to zip up over my ankles. Luckily, the Dainese Torque 3 Out boots have a rear zipper, and after going up a size and a half over my street shoe, I’m happy with the fit and feel very protected in them.
i have the dainese axial d1, and i bought my first racing suit like few days ago. Unfortunately i cant close the zipper of the suit when i try to wear the boots under the suit, then when I try to wear the boots over he suit i cant close the boots zipper. Currently shopping for a new boots, and came to your comment. So how is the boots? how's the comfortability and break in? I wear size 11.5 for my street shoes what do you size do u think I should go for?
Yep agree 100%. Creeps me out to see riders wearing street shoes/sneakers, (+ gloveless!) Cannot overstate the value of riding on balls of my feet don't think I could ride any other way now. Great vid
Clicked on this video because I saw my boots in the thumbnail. Nothing yam says here is wrong lol. The Smx is an awesome street boot. We’ll worth the money
I love my TCX Street motorcycle shoes. They’re crush resistant and use D3O in the sole and ankle. Not good for track but ideal for comfortable street duty.
Added a pair of SMX Plus V2 boots to my shelf of gear for track use and they have as much flexibility as the Alpinestars faster-3 shoes I was wearing on the street. Very impressed by the construction and protection of these boots.
100% agree! I wear the A* SMX 6 V2 Drystar boots with the same company jacket and pants and it surely adds confidence while riding. It took sometime to get used to the boots to be honest but it was well worth the initial discomfort. Cheers
One thing that my AStars SMX boots did for me was ankle support. Riding my motorcycle in "motorcycle" shoes etc, made my ankles flare up, and I had to wear a brace lots of the time off the bike.
Definitely agree! I love these boots. I've have a set of these for 7 years now. Still wear them all the time and wore them every day for 3 years cause I only have motorcycle's to get around rain, hail or shine. And they have saved my feet multiple times. (Always wear your gear what I teach everyone) got smaller Commuting alpines for small trips and track boot's too. It's the same with me too I can't go on the bike without my gear just doesn't feel right. (Like not wearing a seat belt in a car 'you just don't do it!')
Ive been in between the two extremes. I bought motorcycle boots but they were not as protective as i liked. When i had an accident with a car my left foot did get injured since it got smashed pretty hard between my bike and the car. Definitely couldve been worse but if i had some sorta hard toe box or something then i maybe couldve avoided the foot injury completely. Buy the proper gear guys not just any gear and always wear it. Something is better than nothing but if you can always go for the better proper gear
Am i the only one who went back to look if i could find a video where Yammie wasn't wearing his SMX boot? FYI i think i found one. "Things European Owners Say" 7 years ago. Love the videos keep it up.
I just ordered the SMX-6 V2s and I’m excited, I just want to ride safe, I know squiding is fun and all but there’s always that feeling in the back of my mind “if I eat it, it’s gonna hurt type of thing.” I reside in socal and I’m a new rider and I’m starting to notice so many drivers maneuvering hella unsafe so I wanna be prepared for the slide.
In The Netherlands, our average height is around 3 meters and 69cm, so we need every legspace we can get. I ride with duckfeet so my knees have a little less bend on my cbr650f so it starts to hurt less quickly.
I was looking for something I could keep on while at the office and ended up with the Alpinestars Sektor shoes. Does not have the full protection these boots offer, but when I took a slow speed fall and the bike came down on my leg my ankle thanked me for not having on Vans.
Idiosyncratic hip anatomy and mobility can be major factors in foot position. I've been riding for a long time, but I usually have duck feet because pointing them straight ahead hurts. Thanks, deep hip sockets!
Dear Mr Noob, I hear where Ur coming from! I use a pair of tatty SMX1s, shorter & sculptured at back of ankle 4 comfort,to walk miles off the bike. I looked for a new pair, but even Alpinestars now only do short boots that look more like Air Jordans than good M’cycle boots 🏍️😎
Just bought a pair of nexus2 and thought it was a mistake because I wont go to the track with them. This video reashured me it was a good/right desision.
At the moment im riding with my TCX boots and i found them really good and comfortable, and im using Rev'it gloves and AGV helmet, im happy with all of them.
I have these boots, and I’m gonna tell you right now. Don’t expect to go out and feel comfortable wearing these right off the bat. It takes time to “break them in”, and another thing as yammie is saying, it’s weird re-learn from bad habits to good foot braking and finding the clutch also.
Guilty. I'm New. And still wearing DCshoecompaany sneakers. Definitely makes you not want to drop the bike when riding trails. So far so good. But I know coming off at some point is inevitable if I keep going off road. I want boots but just haven't had a spare $400 to boot up. thanks for video.
Now that I'm actually on a motorbike watching this video again makes so much more sense. I think I'm probably doing it wrong. I need to get gear. But I'm still trying to understand what's what. As I'm drawn toward these massive boots coz they go high and look protective. But I think they adventure boots and I can't imagine walking in them. I think something more like you show with the AP* might be more comfortable
How about stairs???. I am a delivery driver for a company equivalent of the door dash. I am riding a Honda GLR 125w and I would love to hear any specific ideas about wearing those for my 12 hour shift
I rode sneakers for years I thought I was cool, AFTER my first year of actually learning the twisties properly I upgraded to a pair of used SMX’s, my confidence and abilities improved like night and day I recently upgraded my old smx’s to brand new SUPER TECH R’s and OMFG best investment ever! Thanks yammie noob ❤
I broke my leg 3 months ago wearing some very basic sidi's. The bike fell on and crushed my leg, i noticed my boots dont offer much if any crush protection from the sides. What boots do offer good crush protection?
I so want a new pair of boots !!! , I have been wearing Fieldsheer Mission boots for decades ( bought a few sets ) I agree the SMX is a GREAT fitting boot , I just can't seem to get the bigger toe box and limited ankle to work for me. I can't get a position on the shifter where I can get my toe under and over without lifting my foot off the peg ;( Its not the Alpenstars its any newish boot with the armor and toe sliders ) In fact its worse with my newest bike ( BMWR1200RT )
Hey Yammie Noob! Great video! I am trying to purchase these boots right off your page, but I cannot seem to get it to ship to Mexico. Do you only ship within the U.S.?
1:49 Exactly what I need to transition from a fast Norton to a Triumph triple liter sport bike, as a street sleeper & grudge racer. In a half hour I finished on boots & correct riding position. Excellent and surprising video! I did not expect to hear the combination of safety with technique associated with proper riding boots. Ah yes, I remember my original Alpinestar SMXs. Good boots, but not fully waterproof and not great fitting over riding pants. Used them about two years. That was like over 23 years ago. Then I got a pair of gor-tex Oxtar Matrix, which lasted me over almost 20 years, finally replaced with a pair of TCX X-Five gor-tex. Good boots that are well taken care of will last and last.
i just got a pair of SMX-6 boots and the only thing i don't like is the velcro on the INSIDES of the boots get snagged on the heel guards and messes me up. they should put the velcro shit on the OUTSIDE! other than that they feel great
I've been rocking the same pair of Alpinestar SMX Plus boots for over a decade and recently purchased a pair of SMX-1 R vented boots for warm weather rides. In past few months on separate occasions, I've found myself riding in rain as well as 33°F (0.5°C) weather. I am thinking about getting a pair of Alpinestar Radon Drystar boots for rain and cold weather. Do any of you have any experience with these boots? I ride a KTM Super Duke GT and my day rides are usually around 180 miles (290 km) or more depending on the destination.
Thanks for video. Can you wear them under riding jeans? Taper cut or straight cut. Love protection. But walking into hospital ( were I work ) might be a little too much. Thanks
I'd love to get these, but the blue ones I want seem to be impossible to get. Not sure if they are discontinued or what, but I'm going to have to go with a different brand
Still riding in sneakers. I have a good ECE helmet, summer gloves, and jacket so far. I understand the safety a boot provides, but I am mostly a commuter and I would rather wear something that goes well with my outfits at work. I can't be bringing extra shoes and changing into them everyday 2-3 times.
If you can leave a pair of shoes at work it’s worth getting a pair of boots and changing. I finally got some riding boots after nine years of commuting by motorcycle and it really does make riding much more enjoyable. Wish I’d done it years ago. The Dainese torque 3 have zippers in the back that make it easy to change into work boots.
I dont know what one's to get, I am going for my license and I need to stay in town. Where I am there isnt really highway riding, would the vented boots work okay? or do i need the higher length boots?
I mostly wear jeans, so I don’t do the knee down thing. my size 12s hang just enough off the pegs so that I find the lean limit perfectly every time. It’s terrible technique, but it’s basically inevitable
Good video. I have Alpine Tech 5 for my dirbike stuff (for years) and I have Sedeci sport boots to wear on the road. Kind of like my different helmets. I have Arai for road and HJC for off road.
I always wore short boots because I thought I’m on the street why do I need something tall. And I loved my previous TCX boots. But in October I had a spill on the highway where I went off the back of the bike and the rear peg somehow sliced up the back of my leg just missing my Achilles. I now look like I got mauled by a shark and I don’t even swim in the ocean even though I have a beach house. I grabbed the SMX6V2 and hopefully I’ll get to try them soon. Just waiting on a crankcase cover for my MT-09 and I’m good to go
So I have a question. I have a hard time finding shoes as it is since I have to wear extra wide shoes boots etc. Is there a selection of motorcycle footwear that is suitable for someone with wide feet?

You mentioned the street and dirt model names, but not the race ones. What do you use for your track boots?

man, the psychology you explained behind having the proper gear is pure gold 🔥
I love my TCX Street motorcycle shoes. They’re crush resistant and use D3O in the sole and ankle. Not good for track but ideal for comfortable street duty.
The SMX is my boot of choice. They are more comfortable than full race boots while still offering full sized boot protection. I love them.
which SMX? S or the 6 v2?
S or 6 v2
I can confirm 5days in and i have fixed my foot placenent due to this video.
Thank you!!!! 🙏
This is a nice new video format. I liked it a lot. It feels more genuine. And, yeah, I understand you guys sell this gear...

I ride across country. I saw at least 25 motorcycles today that according to this guy, they were ALL beginners
I’ve got some. They are awesome. Fairly waterproof, lovely and warm, not had a spill, but confidence inspiring.
whats up with the color of the video? Need a proper slog to rec 709 conversion

The way they paddle their feet on the road, shits me too tears.
What boots should I be wearing in a feet forward cruiser motorcycle? What should my feet position be? Doesn't seem like it's as important
The boots in the video seem to be the Alpinestars SMX-6 V2 and not the SMX-S (the ones in the link you posted), or am I mistaken?
Idiosyncratic hip anatomy and mobility can be major factors in foot position. I've been riding for a long time, but I usually have duck feet because pointing them straight ahead hurts. Thanks, deep hip sockets!

It is worth the investment as any injury is worse without boots on adds to rehab time and severity of the injury
I never really felt like wanting to drop my bike. I prefer keeping her shiny side up:)
But I get your meaning
Smx plus v2 owner.. a lil stiff for street duty but i love em.
I love those boots!

alpha chad with my sedaci racing boots daily.
So is it correct to peg on the ball of your feet. Move foot to vhange gear then out it back on the ball of foot?

Theres like 500 different variations of the Alpinestars SMX boot, how am I supposed to know the differences? How does drystar differ from S WP?
Is that the SMX-S or the SMX-S wp which is the waterproof version

Makes no sense to ride on your toes the whole ride. Only when cornering.
how is the smx6 v2 compared to the dainese nexus 2?
I am into horse riding, i ride the same Laredos
Propper squid here , working on it tho 😅
Same happened to me with the dainese axial d1
We are not scuba diving with an oxygen tank. We use an air cylinder for most occasions
Simply you can’t convince people to wear gears they will just justify restructure to counter 😂
