  • Palming is a very important aspect of sleight of hand card magic. The classic palm is among one of the most popular (if not the most) palming techniques available to magicians. In this video I'll teach you how to secretly and efficiently get the top card of the deck into classic palm position.

    Great tutorial, Asad. I for one am in favor of the mirror. It just adds another dimension to the tutorial. I wonder if you could go over the technique for palming the bottom card into your right hand. I know it is generally done the same way as for the top card, but whenever I attempt it, it just seems clunky and obvious. Hopefully you have some wisdom to share on the topic.
    Keep up the great work!

    I put the card into palm with my left pinky, it‘s kind of like a top shot. It enables me to palm a card really fast, even while just passing over the deck with my right hand.

    Hi, I am a 12 year old boy who's learning magic and is really getting into it, I've been trying to find the best card palming technique for the size of my hands but I can't seem to ring a perfect method, is there any palming technique you would recommend to me that could be done with smaller hands. If you could respond as soon as possible, that would be greatly appreciated.

    hey!! ive just started to practice sleights of hands a few months ago! you said here on this video something we must cover the card very well "with no windows"! that got my attention! cause my hands are quite thin, and in between my fingers theres this huuuuge windows! does anyone else have this problem? ive no idea! am i not gonna be able to palm a card ever because of this? i googled "how to get fatter fingers", and i read somewhere that it is genetic!

    are there any hand motions that are used hide palm even more? I have very skinny fingers so I always have windows during my palm. I wonder, is there any motion, that would help hiding card and would look natural?

      Use bridge size playing cards

    • @sustaniac
      @sustaniac 8 років тому

      +Krakenosowaty I have found that the most important tool to accompany any palm is misdirection. If you are controlling your audience's attention and not attempting to be blatant with your sleights, you can afford to have little imperfections with your palming technique. I've found that the best thing to do after a palm is to drop the palming hand your side and offer the deck for shuffling, cutting, visual inspection or, depending on the trick, a one-handed cut or shuffle. Then, when their attention is focused on the deck, do what you need to with the palmed card. Just be aware of your movements and your audience's focus. Usually, as long as you don't burn your own sleights and you are giving them something else to look at, you will be fine.

      +Shattering Perception what are the differences and which is better?

    • @ShatteringPerception
      @ShatteringPerception 8 років тому

      +sasukeDVVVV in my opinion paper decks are better they're smooth, textured and they fan really well and just feel right. Plastic cards are more stiff and don't fan, flourish or spread as well. The pros however of a plastic deck is that it lasts longer and it's water resistant if not water proof. This in mind most decks are made of paper because it's the preferred material because the stock, setting and finish can be controlled
