@* Outdoorsman Dave * not yet. So far, I've been limited to mostly local trips but I'm starting to find new opportunities now that my kids are grown up.
Hi Dave; just to let you know, a number of years ago a track was made over the hill Maungaorangi to enable trampers to avoid the Tewaioturuputia (sp?) Stream route which is on private land when going from Boyd Lodge to Cascade Hut. Cheers.
We had a great time together, you must’ve gotten on being the same height, eye to eye. Yes and well considered rationale behind what he took. Are you gaining on Abel yet 🙃
Loved watching this series Dave, such a beautiful part of the North Island. Glad you got home safe, albeit tired. As always, I look forward to seeing your next adventure. Keep being you.
Walked out that way from Boyd end of last year. Agree heaps of great camping spots. Had a swim where you camped. Was a long day. That track has lots of different outdoors people out there too. Hunters, trampers, trout fishers and even rafters. All enjoying the outdoors.
Very enjoyable series. It is really amazing who we meet on trail and what we can learn from them. Some impressive mahi both on trail and post trail editing all this.
@@OutdoorsmanDave Sure, not sure what I have much to offer, I certainly be happy too. Be curious to hear what you felt about your gear, food etc on this trip, and anything you would change...
Colourful character. My wife understands that there is a deep seated need to reset in the bush or to explore for reasons of sanity. I don’t cage very well. How many days in are you?
It's irresponsible to not carry a PLB / EPIRB in such areas, especially after your other trip where your mates left you behind [another irresponsible event]. More irresponsible than leaving trash. The impact on services & family is unfair. I sincerely hope you now carry a PLB / EPIRB.
See video ua-cam.com/video/DUA-c5QinaQ/v-deo.html where I renew my PLB battery which I always carry, but don’t carry a satellite inreach device, unsure how you came to this conclusion???
Great outing. Thanks for bringing us along and sharing a bit of your neck of the woods!
NZ is a great neck Jonny, have you been to New Zealand? and no I've only been to Hawaii (it's a state does it count as America)?

Hugs for your wife....
Yes, lots.

Thanks. Are you referring to the sign near Boyd that says permission required?
Great video good to meet you at one of the Tongariro boggers look forward to your film of that adventure
Hi Kim, hope you didn’t get caught in the high winds, nice we are both out there doing it 👋
I meet John in the Kaimais. You gotta be impressed with his minimal gear.

Gosh from Boyd, that was a big day, well done.
Another great video. The Kaimanawa's would have to be the best forest in the North Island
Kaweka’s and Wharinaki are pretty awesome too
Nice one mate 👍
Thanks mate, what did you think of those riverside campsites though…awesome
@@OutdoorsmanDave yeah they look bloody magic, only back from the Manson last weekend but will talk soon about heli sharing

Thank-you, yeah I’m a little resilient. Beautiful country, need to go back (if I’m allowed 😉)
@* Outdoorsman Dave * are you confined to barracks now LOL 😆
No, I’m allowed out this long weekend BUT if you read the description, hitchhiking is now highly recommended by my lovely lady

Was going to do that though I’ve got a bit of footage to get into production so it’s a back burner idea
Ah - John! I met him at Macintosh Hut the week before. That was a great series - a heck of an adventure, eh what! Have you been allowed out again?
