I've recently begun wild camping in the UK (moved here a year ago from Australia) and hadn't done much hiking or camping before. I've had 2 successful 1 night wild camps, and I've got a whole new appreciation for how much planning and endurance goes in to a trip like this. Carrying 13+ kilograms up steep mountain terrain, far from civilization, while the weather is ever changing. All while keeping that mental and physical fortitude together. Great video mate, a lot of respect for what you do!
Only ever camped on that side once, looks great. Really need to explore more. The hike up pen yr ole wen looked hard work, think that one bit that puts me off 😂. Glad u just went for a close up on the skinny dipping, was having my breakfast at the time 😂😂. Another cracking vid Andy, atb paul
Having spent a night on the Rapide SL (regular wide) myself, I can vouch for its comfort. I used the Alpkit Skyehigh 900 bag. So warm. What a cracking view to wake up to. Haven't been to Wales since my 30s now 55. Dunno whether I could cope with all those rocks underfoot. Nice one Andy.
Great video. Planning on doing a similar route next month. Tried it in March but just too windy so camped low down. Look forward to the next adventure. ATB 👍⛺️🥾
It was really windy to start off with (you can hear it!) but I was fortunate it backed off as the forecast predicted. It would have been a totally different experience if it hadn’t!
Rate the Sun to watchs, I have a Sunnto 5, not as good as the 9, but the bread crumb trail for GPS has worked really well for me, although I will say the Sunnto app for planning the route isn't the best, I tend to use the os Map app for that. Good Video Andy 😊
Great video again Andy, I’m only just getting into wild camping and hiking and was thinking of going over to Snowdonia as it’s less than 100 miles for me. Just wandering where you park the car as I’ve heard it can be a bit restricted. Cheers
Random question Andy, do you have kids/family? Just wondering as I am desperate to do something like this and wondering how you fit it in around work and family etc? Cheers pal and thanks for more great content
Yes, wife and 7 year old daughter. It’s a challenge! For these 3 days I made use of the Easter holidays so went for these 3 days and immediately went on a family holiday after. Everyone’s happy 😁
Really comfy and I love the clamshell design. Crazy money though! The Osprey Atmos is very close but a fraction of the cost. That’s where my money would go.
More outside adventures, I need to get out after seeing this, building a camper at the mo but I need to down tools and get that solitude with a view 🥾⛺️⛰👌🏻

You know it! Lots of people don’t realise though, it’s certainly not a walk in the park but it’s very rewarding!
Well done great video. Keep up the great work

I'm really keen on trying an Alpkit bag, they get really good reviews!
Brilliant first part to follow up the second part Andy , looked like a amazing adventure
The weather was finally on my side 🙌

@@BackpackingUK out of interest. I’m assuming you parked up at Llyn Ogwen. How did you get back to your car when you finished?
@@PackBoots Correct. I simply walked back. If you watch Part 2 you'll see I took a different route and camped at Y Garn too.
Fantastic! What a great location to put the tent up. 5* as you say!
It was a cracking spot. Simply found looking on OS Maps.
Great part 1 Andy, looking forward to part 2 👍👊🥃
Part 2 actually came out first so it’s available now!
Looking like a great trip. Good amount of climbing there.
It certainly was 😅
You really nailed it this time mate , well done 5X
Thanks so much!
Managed to find this place 👏🏼 I’ll add it to the plans
It’s a gem!
Looks stunning, I might have to take a dip after the sunrise. Maybe wander over to the falls
Truly epic adventure. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring
So glad you enjoyed it!
Another masterpiece my friend, your channel is simply amazing and just artistic! Great work 🔥🔥

I use OS Maps and Strava for my routes 👍

Use the laybys, there’s lots of them!

i dont the welsh 3000s last year, we had half our team drop out at ogwen but we managed to do it in 20 hours
Well done, that's a great effort!
What bag you use? How many liters?

64L 👍
So what are you thinking of that Osprey UNLD backpack?
Really comfy and I love the clamshell design. Crazy money though! The Osprey Atmos is very close but a fraction of the cost. That’s where my money would go.
Hi there, what is the ‘Slide straw filtration system’ ?
Lifestraw 👍
How do you know were you are allowed to camp?
In theory you’re not, but if you get high out of the way you should be ok.
What is the pack you are carrying?
Osprey UNLTD 👍
What watch is that?
Suunto 9 Peak Pro. I think RRP is £419.
More outside adventures, I need to get out after seeing this, building a camper at the mo but I need to down tools and get that solitude with a view 🥾⛺️⛰👌🏻
We’re hiring a camper next month, can’t wait! It’s obviously not the same, but I get to share a similar experience with the fam.
Enjoy, will you be filming it? If so it would be a good thing on your channel, there’s a few hikers turning to campers for some film content
