When you think about how often the player is allowed to disrespect Darth Baras, it's really surprising that he tolerated it for that long.
I think I managed to record most if not all instances in which SW tried to sass or insult Baras, his reactions included.
Spoilers for the Sith Warrior storyline, naturally.

Darth Baras is either the most patient Sith in Sith history, or he just has a really good sense of humor. Probably both.
he did build up his plan over multiple decades to depose the emperor and take control over the empire by acting as the emperor's voice. He's not as powerful as his own apprentice, but he's devious and patient
He seems to have a good sense of humor tbh, judging by the way he talks.

No kidding baras jus lets his apprentice walk all over him it's a wonder he's still alive. Baras allows such insolence while other sith lords would respond with lethal force without hesitation for far less. You would think other sith would perceive him as laughably weak.

@Mr. Al Yeah, big bug mask guy. I never took him seriously because he was beat by the agent, but in place of the Warrior's master he would have appeared way more formidable.
@Mr. Al The annoying thing is, when they first showed off Darth Baras in the comics released prior to launch, he was a different character both in personality and appearance. It's a pity they didn't take on the characteristics from the comics, and instead just created a character and called it the name of an existing character.
@@alexander9703 Personality wise I disagree. Baras was always as cunning and intelligence like he was in the comics. He was the negotiator in the treaty and a good liar (His face in the treaty doesn't suggest he wishes harm) and in SWTOR he had the tolerance to handle our character's immaturity in alternate dialogue options as well as the fact that he lied to the Council of him becoming the Voice. But in apperance I would agree wtih you, but you can kinda see the similarity on Baras' comic face as well as the game's.

Depend on dialogue choice, his betrayal can feel less "You've outlive your usefulness" and more "I'm tired of all the sass".

Baras' voice actor did a really good job in this game, the way he speaks is quite enthralling
same with the sith inquisitor female. I only played the female version because her voice and acting is just amazing. The male sounds gross to me

I like how he doesn't take offense to an obvious insult and actually seems to appreciate, to some extent, the joke.
I'm convinced that to some degree, Baras legitimately finds the constant sass amusing, and it's only when the Warrior has grown powerful enough to pose a legitimate threat to him that Baras betrays the Warrior.
I wonder if the Sass Warrior reminds Baras of his younger days, and that's why he's so tolerant?
Magus Silveresti doesn't strike me as someone who would put up with that - my guess is that SW is just that useful (badass and powerful)
Plot armor
No, the Sass Warrior gets along with Darth Vowrawn because they have similar tendencies to troll. Baras is just the kid on the playground who all the other kids secretly mock.

@@Roksik exactly. Baras is too cold and calculating. He puts up with it because the SW is a useful tool and he already planned to dispose of him after his usefulness has expired.

I think the best ending to a trolling Baras run is to spare him in the very end and then banish him or toss him in prison, so he can live out the rest of his days knowing that he had it all and lost it at the hands of his most hated apprentice who wouldn't shut up with their quips lmao
While I agree that is the most satisfying from a revenge POV, I can't get past the fact he replaces you then tries to have you killed meaning his death is the only answer.
You could choose to spare him then kill him after Vowrawn spoke. That seems to elicit the greatest anguish from him.
The problem there is, he or one of his many agents might break him free. In planning to do a Light Sith playthrough but the only real Dark side choice I'm doing is killing him

Marr is easily the greatest character (of SWTOR), he's such a badass. The defender and true ruler of the Sith Empire!
I personally see him as a fat bastard but I agree, all the darths in SWTOR are awesome. Him, Zash, Jadus, Vowran... Hate Malgus though. Too bad Marr's the only one who's shown doing anything at all for the Empire.

SPOILER WARNING AHEAD!
At first Baras is incredibly intimidating, he may be fat but you get the feeling that he's incredibly powerful, how else can a man in his position afford to gain so much weight and remain in power?
So you obey him and even respect him, when he betrays you, then you hate him, and the game gives you a strong motivation by the way of his smug apprentice Drahg (I think that was his name).
Finally, when you confront him in the council chambers in front of the Dark Council, and he takes off his mask, you see him for what he truly is, a pathetic bald man who weaseled his way into power, relying on secrets and schemes to remain there, and when you finally kill him, he dies pitifully offering no resistance as you skewer him.
I just finished the story today so it's fresh in my mind and I wanted to share my thoughts.

He used to be pretty tough way back in the vanilla days, due to how the game works now and that you fight him on a low level planet he's ridiculously easy.
@@Mcmadness288 Yeah, BioWare need to rework the level scaling a tad, even if you're wearing nothing but green quest gear you are still way overpowered and level far too quickly.

Damnit, I'm disappointed now. Female Sith Warriors don't get the full 'I know the code' line. Male Warriors end up saying 'Sure, give me a moment. You see, there's the Dark Side... And then there's the Light Side... And... And there you have it.'
Still a damn good compilation though, Baras is so fun to screw with

Sad. I really liked his character for a while. I thought that despite the occasional outburst as seen here, he was still more rational and calculating than most Sith lords, and he had a sweet mask and armour...
Then Chapter 3 happened.

True, but I assumed someone so smart would be able to detect patterns. Not one single person has taken on his new apprentice and survived, yet he discards them.
I guess he knew that he won't be able to survive the confrontation if he's there when shit goes down, and assumed that it would happen sooner or later, with what sith politics are like.

Honestly I always figured he found it refreshing. He had so many yes men i think he liked having a capable apprentice who didn't mind messing with him.
That would explain his complete tolerance of your attitude considering his Yes Men most likely fear him to.
He probably has a grin on his face everytime you do it considering when you do see him smiling later you just know he wouldn't be able to hide that level of amusement without a mask.
The story and characters of this game are better than anything Disney could hope to create.
Then again there's also the consular's or the trooper's storyline... they are so boring IMO.
its a shame bioware didnt do as good with andromeda............ and i loved that game too, just left a bit to be desired
@Red Rat no i am, ive played and beat andromeda twice over................. was just saying there was a lot more that could have been done with the game such as having the quarian ark able to be searched for at the least even if the results may have been rather grim (didnt read the book where they apparently went into more detail in that regard so i dont have much knowledge there) and yes i know they named it andromeda for reasons................ but why only let us explore 1 single cluster in the entire galaxy that the game is named after............. hell even the first mass effect game did better in terms of exploration.................... dont get me wrong as i stated over a year ago i loved ans till do love mass effect andromeda despite all the hate it still gets (some of the hate is understandable, but some is essentially pissing on bioware for not providing what the fans really wanted, and some is just typical haters that hate on anything they dont like when they first see it and never look at it again regardless of any improvements that may be made)

Sith Warrior has some of my favorite sass of the entire franchise.
This is why I love the imperial side of this game. The sarcasm and humor is unchained 😂
Pub side has loads of it too if you know where to look. Smuggler's story is incredibly funny and making 'how to troll general Garza' has been on my mind for quite some time as well.

I'm not a music person, but I agree that it's very memorable. He might be mocked by the fan community but he's the reason so many people rank SW's story above others. No other story had such a natural flow between all 3 chapters.
Not to mention Baras was one of the few characters that were relevant through all 3 chapters. Other classes have Villain for each chapter. Skavak, Vivikar etc.

My favorite part is 2:53 where Baras throws a fit about not being able to break spy

I find it curious the baras never lashes out on his apprentice, almost like he knows his new slave is more powerful.

I love this dynamic between Warrior and Baras kinda makes me think Baras has sense of humor and would have been happy to throw a word of his own but he is too consumed by dark side to do that

I wonder what the poor guy behind Baras, frozen in carbonite, did to piss off Baras?
This is why Baras is one of my favourite quest giver dude's in the game (although Keeper kind of feels like a proud parent & that's nice). Sometimes I wish I could just have him permanently locked in my ship to sass with.
The path of the sass is always the most powerful one

Seth Snake depends on the warrior too, really. This girl started out as a LS flowerchild, pretty dress and all. And then I had to admit that the game just isn't giving me enough to work with, so I did a sharp 180. Now she's a body type 3 armor clad corrupted badass, see any of my later videos for it!
I had no idea why everyone used to sass baras so much. I would sass him but only when he gets rude, I would be polite if he was polite and most of the time I'd just be neutral. Then Quesh happened and I sassed him all the time after making a new warrior.
Baras is the one usually doing the handling... Oh my, he is quite in charge yes?
to be honest after a while it kind of lost its touch every time you messed with him all he did was threated the character (apart from chapter 3) and there is Zhorrid who is always insane and Jadus ok so he had a decent plan and knew how to get what he wanted and its only through plot armour that the imperial agent even survived him but what is really good was when (darkside only) Zash completely exploded at the inquisitor for not doing that extra mission (can't remember which planet)
ScarTale he still kept his word, and surviving good backstab required a fair amount of plot armor anyway :)
