Kind of weird xQc doesn't understand after seeing what happened to all those BR that came out only to be met with no players. If you aren't Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Warzone, you're a very very distant fourth at best in the BR genre(which isn't good with the size of lobbies that need to be filled in a BR). Hell, Cliff didn't even learn his lesson and made a Fortnite clone a year after Lawbreakers and that game did even worse, forcing him to pull the plug on his studio.
nah the game was actually really fun and addicting it was just pushed out of the market because there were other better or more popular options and going from f2p to paid left a bad taste in alot of players mouths
Yeah I loved it while it lasted and I'm not usually a fan of fps apex legends is a little similar but just doesn't scratch the same itch lawbreakers did while it was around
Saturation is real! Atari almost killed the gaming industry because of it.. these days, companies focus on making games on successful models. Money kills the creativity for a lot of developpers..
Being from a background of game development, I really feel for the people who truly wanted to make a ground-breaking game, but were told to do/make and ended up with what we got. Stockholders are no joke, they control the entire project, and devs are there to do what they're told, and creative freedom takes a backseat. The devs really tried, and put their heart and soul into this.
The same thing happened during the 90's in the fighting game era boom. So many titles came out but today it's really only a select two or three you can bet people have even heard of. No matter how good you are if you have more competitors it's harder to be successful.
The thing is this actually might have worked back in the day but nowadays games are so over saturated and the genres are so stuck in a specific loop that anything other than a masterpiece or clone is just a failure xqc is just wrong here saturation absolutely kills games there is no good every time since it’s people and not objects
since this video is about a dead game all i wanna say is: *hyperscape was a good game. the reason it failed was because the skill gap was way, way too high*
it failed cuz they couldnt balance the game according to what the people wanted, people were interested cuz it seems "high skill" but the meta was splash and spray damage which turned all those people away, and instead of nerfing the splash damage they nerfed half the hitscans and buffed the other splash damage lol, everyone immediately left after that patch idk why devs fail to realize that all these UT refugees just want a game to zip around and click heads in, but all the click head games have no movement, and all the movement games dont reward head clicking
game was good. he kept shititng on other AAA games but ironically, he caused the game to go downhill from the top of the chain just like all those other games. wasnt the fault of all the lower rung devs cuz they made an awesome game which was just marketed and directed extremely poorly
actual brainlet take saturation is absolutely a thing, lawbreakers was fun it had great movement and gunplay. but 30 bux for a multiplayer only game in a sea of multiplayer only games at the time and arguably today is a hard sell especially after people got burnt with previous games like battleborn and evolve. it should've been f2p and by the time it was the damage was already done
The game was amazing actually. No matter what this video says. It was that other games were free 2 play. This one wasn't. Everyone wants a better overwatch to be honest.
i agree i think the bigger issue was the game was just bad. i think the dude who made it thought that esports = complicated when some of the best esports like csgo are pretty simple in terms of gameplay mechanics but have crazy high skill ceiling. they had no idea what niche the game filled and they had no idea what people actually think is fun
you can understand the developers frustration though. Theres no doubt that lawbreakers itself is a far superior game on a mechanical and innovation level in comparison to games like call of duty and battlefield. And as developers you would be annoyed that even though your game is technically better, the general crowd (which are a lot of brain dead people) still gravitate towards an arguably "worse" product (battlefield, call of duty) etc simply because its "familiar". I can empathise with the developers of lawbreakers. This kind of thing happens all the time across all sorts of artforms and as the artist it can be incredibly frustrating.
It wouldn't have mattered if it just started free though :/ that's what killed it so many people wanted to play them they announced the 29.99 price and for various reasons the people that loved it didn't bother I for one couldn't afford it at the time then it died before I even realized it went free to play in the late stages
There was this time mid 2010s where people saw a game that was ever so slighty like any other game and they put it into this weird bracket of like "Shadow of Mordor? Oh that is just AC+Batman+Dark Souls+Deus ex +..." and it was so fucking annoying. Like, you had a stealth mechanic in your game? ITS LIKE ASSASSIN'S CREED!!!! You had a slightly harder/more difficult boss in your entire game? ITS A SOULS LIKE!!! Stupid ass people man.
8:13- yeah because as big as this game failed and as much of a joke as it ended up being, it still was a hugely higher still game than OW, so of course all the OW players wanted to stop playing, there's no auto aim/healing only carebear glasses LULW
the juicer does have a point. if your game is good it doesn't matter how saturated the market is. sure it does play a certain part but only to a degree. titanfall 2 is a perfect example for that. EA absolutely set respawn up, it's like they WANTED it to flop. awful release date right between battlefield 1 and call of fucking duty, poor management - and yet the game prevailed. to this day it has an awesome and dedicated community that is ready to even host their own servers for the game just to keep it alive.
Here because Concord reminded me of the ad with that hammerhead looking character eating the apple, and it (Concord) fell for the same shit that Lawbreaker did (not being F2P on release) also just being Woke garbage.
ok this is super funny I never herd about this game until now and i thot this was a new game coming out and I'm thinking to my self "this game died already?" bro this shit came out 5 years ago brother i'm Shacking

Multiversus is a bad example of a copy, since smash isn't playable for people who dont own a switch. A better example would be like Overwatch and Paladins. Hero shooters obviously are the easiest games to copy from, but paladins fans are pretty avid regardless of the similarities to a more popular game
Lawbreakers was actually a good game but should have just launched f2p on release and it would have gotten more attention and more dedicated players
