One of my favorite bands of all time!!!! Their live shows are SO MUCH fun, they want their fans to have as much as possible...I'd recommend at least one of their shows to anyone. Even if you're not a fan of this band, you'd still have a BLAST at their show.
Their albums are brilliant, but their live shows are... there are no youtubes that can transport you into the joyful madness, and I have looked hard. See them live. They project an energy from the stage that is so far beyond confetti and balloons... they are something else.
it's so great to see a band really try as hard as they do after all this time. they could just ride nostalgia but they don't, they try their hardest every time. < 3
the first time i heard was at a show in Atlanta on acid it was awesome a little intense but then at the part "when she's high" it got groovy it was awesome
No. This (as with Convinced of the Hex) was shot last August as they toured America (thus the reference to "hopped on the bus"). It's probably several shows edited together and the shots with the panda look like San Diego 8/15/09. Check out my How the West Was Won playlist for more from this tour.
It was Wayne who 1st brought up Miles (and Lennon) before they even recorded Embryonic, later saying the Miles bits pushed out the Lennon. While they were making it he referred to its sound as Miles and Floyd having a fight. There are countless traces in the Lips' work (the 3 mentioned above consistently reoccurring) sometimes obvious but twisted, other times beyond recognition (i.e. Vein of Stars texture influenced by Miles/ Gil Evans). The Lips epitomize "influenced" and "influential."
loving the gorilla haha! only just picked up yoshimi a month or 2 ago, flaming lips are my latest favourite band, next time you guys are in the UK and playing scotland i'll be there
@lionourgraves the guy playing the bongos, is most likely a session musician, mean he just gets payed to do the shows by the band, and isnt actually in it, he def not in the band, and yes that is still drozd
fukn awsome, just saw them do this at bonnaroo and this is the best clip of this song online. thanks, check out my channel for vids from bonnaroo and other festis!
Everyone thinks Wayne has an awful voice. But if you think about it, how many 50 year-old's do you know that have been singing for 30 years can still sing today? let alone sing on the shoulders of someone dressed as a gorilla.....
I was so pissed when they played Vegas a few weeks ago and I had an emergency at work :( I took comfort in that very night that somebody else stood i my place at their very first lips show and had their face properly melted.
Yes Miles Davis. I was responding to BobMillahhh's comment about Davis and Floyd influnces, but for some reason it didn't come up under that comment so it came out confusing and out of context. Just thought I'd chime in today when I saw what people posted since there seemed to be some confusion. Psych Explorations of the Future Heart (PsychExFutureHeart) is an upcoming publication about life, rock n roll and the Lips. See my channel for more info if you're interested.
"The guy with the bongos" is Derek Brown (he plays guitar on other songs), a longtime associate of the band who's played with them since Pitchfork in July '09(though not Australia, Japan). He's not an official member in the sense that Coyne, Drozd, Ivins and now Kliph are, but he is a member in the sense that he's "part of the band" that creates their live experience plus he's helped them out behind the scenes for many years. They've since added a 6th member, Ray aka "guy playing the gong."
Everytime I see The Flaming Lips, i can't think of a better band, to simply play Everywhere, Anywhere, all the time, perhaps performing Free Concerts.... Let the music be free for the world... For the greater good :)
I feel extremely grateful to the Lips to have made an album so good and daring TODAY. It makes me feel very alive and I'll love them forever.

Drozd's voice is just mindboggling awesome.
Their albums are brilliant, but their live shows are... there are no youtubes that can transport you into the joyful madness, and I have looked hard. See them live. They project an energy from the stage that is so far beyond confetti and balloons... they are something else.
The Flaming Lips's Embryonic is their Dark Side Of The Moon if you know what i mean
it's so great to see a band really try as hard as they do after all this time. they could just ride nostalgia but they don't, they try their hardest every time. < 3
simply amazing, embryonic is so unique
Always an amazing and crazy show. I love this song. My favorite song on the Embryonic album.
that echo effect yelling reminds me of this is radio clash, bad ass
13 years later, I just saw them live, WHAT A SHOW!!!
I'm going to see them for the first time this Saturday. Words cannot explain how excited I am!
I love that break at 1:24, great chord progression.
I’m so late on this comment, but dropping the synths for that part makes this mix IMO. It feels even more psychedelic without the synths.
Such an incredible song. Especially live!
the first time i heard was at a show in Atlanta on acid it was awesome a little intense but then at the part "when she's high" it got groovy it was awesome
Its hard to move when you are star struck,
Best song on Embryonic IMO
Flaming Lips should release some crazy live album...it would be off the hook and you know they would make the album unique.
so glad i saw them live!!
They are an amoeba of the mind
Great song! Long live the Lips!
love it...gotta see em when they come to bluesfest! looks VERY entertaining!
Favourite Lips song. :)
AMAZING!!!!!!
i cannot wait to have this experience live in october! :D
incredible
This music matches perfectly with Evan Hernandes style and tricks.
But how is this quality so good for a 12 year old video

free concerts and downloads and such are wonderful, but they do need money in order to produce the albums, and in order to put on such amasing shows
Good to hear it. I am a newer fan as well. They're music is so influencial.
Syd Barret would be proud....
loving the gorilla haha! only just picked up yoshimi a month or 2 ago, flaming lips are my latest favourite band, next time you guys are in the UK and playing scotland i'll be there
@Hammersmashed68 The album's called "Embryonic".
Wish they still played this live
Just saw it live last night in Pittsburgh.
Opened with it tonight in London UK 🇬🇧

they are still breaking new ground and keeping their garage background alive. FUCK!
@psychexfutureheart what Miles are you reffering too? Davis? btw you seem like a very knowledgable person from looking at your previous comments
Was that shot in Brussels maybe?
@mantra3000 whats the album called...I'm a new fan to the Lips and I gotta buy one of their CD's!
@dappergen So does your taste in music.
@mrmute05 Me too! : ]
is this footage gonna be released as a live dvd or something?
when she's high
that was like the worst crowd ever
Most of the music I like is made by people half his age
@lionourgraves the guy playing the bongos, is most likely a session musician, mean he just gets payed to do the shows by the band, and isnt actually in it, he def not in the band, and yes that is still drozd
who the fuck disliked this video???!!!
@regrhcp
Seriously. Maybe 50 people were as into it as they should have been.
Barret underground

@dappergen Then you need to take a bath.

i came here from tame impala and idk what i just walked into
I was so pissed when they played Vegas a few weeks ago and I had an emergency at work :(

Best song on Embryonic IMO
Absolutely joyous and brilliant.

This is mixed pretty terribly. But the song is so fucking great. longlivelips
4:20 minutes long......
Wow. No bass at all. And I can't think of a bigger injustice that could be visited on a song from Embryonic.
