I sometimes forget how amazing of a lyricist Wayne is until I look up the words. This song is a perfect little poem, and a BIG FUCKING TRIP!
'Evil' is not noise, and is one of their most beautiful to date. Same for 'The impulse' and 'I Can Be A Frog'. You can't judge an album you haven't truly listened to.
Embryonic is up there with my favorite Lips albums
if you ever see this, you should watch blastula - the making of embryonic if you haven't already. I'm pretty sure it's still on youtube, but if it's not I can send you the full thing
edit: if anyone else wants it either, i can send it. just let me know. i have the file on my computer
@@nerdycat9180 send me it?

Kliph is an amazing drummer.
Flaming Lips forever. :)
Still listening to this on a regular basis.
The best drummer out there right now
All hail the Mighty Drozd!
what awesome is the word that comes to mind
I think we all ought to pool resources and buy Drozd the six string neck for his Gibson SG doubleneck, as fan appreciation for his battle against drug addiction.
well, they know their CAN. good.
dude i'm 14 years old i listen to this shit flaming lips are on a much bigger scale than sonic youth hands down. FLAMING LIPS are fucking crazy and i love every minute of it check out worm mountain on embryonic that shit is masterful in musicianship
I traveled 2.000 km to weissenhauser strand justto see you guys and you were amazing
Hail the Mighty Drozd indeed!
watching the documentary gave me a newfound respect for them.
which one?
This is aweeesome!!!!!! I like the original recording as well.
I 🧡 the Flaming Lips
Happy Belated Birthday Wayne! Thank you Flaming Lips for being awesome and for bringing so much fun to our lives. Your messages of peace and love haven't fallen on deaf ears. Happy 2011 to you and everyone else!
The Lips, Denton TX free concert May 2010

Saw the show in Glasgow last night. It blew my mind. Never seen a band like it in my life. Awesome.
Dear Flaming Lips, you owe Philly another date real soon! That rain-out really was some sort of hex, I'm convinced.
Goodness...so much love.
This song gives me absolute chills. Sanuk brothers!
Ive seen hundreds of bands live, and the flaming lips is probably the best live act i ever saw. Top 3 at least. And that was 2003 bonnaroo. I have always wanted to see them again but seem to always miss them =(.
What a splendid band!
Effing amazing 👏
Michael has the greatest bass sound ever.
So good. Can't wait to see them this Wednesday in Milwaukee!!!!
i want to meet Wayne someday man.....that would be so fuckin' dope
Saw you in New Orleans. It was the most joyous rock show I've ever been a part of.
I am seeing them at Lupos in Providence, RI on July 6th. Going to be one of the highlights of my life.
how was it
Brilliant Sonic Communication...
@flaminglips cant wait for nateva!!!!! you guys are gonna be awesome!!!!!!!
these guys are so cool. i met the drummer outside of jimmy kimmel and he actually gave me his home address in kentucky or something so i could send him a demo. crazy.
they'll come to Portugal this summer
THIS IS EVOLUTION
Awesome....Steve is like a one-man-band on his own...add the greatness of the others into the mix and you get, like, three bands for the price of one.
AAAAH im seeing them in July in Toronto!!111!!
Summerfest. I live in Houston.
Michael Ivins and I have the same eight dollar bass strap :)
I'm holding my ticket in my hand while watching this.
Great stuff. This is like going on a trip across the universe. Totally tripped-out madness.
Makes me think of when Pink Floyd was in their hey-dey, pre-Dark Side, of course, around 1968-1971: totally destroying all competitors and making people wonder if they were even human.
When are you coming to Argentina? I really mean this question. A breathless person's life depends on it.
I loved their last album...it was great an totally different from the others
Because we can.
@MrAjax246 I noticed this too, I think he just turned his shirt around a lot or something (the back of his shirt is red sometimes and black sometimes)
But yes, he certainly has speed.
@motorawaylive
yeah yeah yeah.... seriously, you MUST!!!
@Tehtify I would be so proud of my son/daughter if she liked the flaming lips. Even more if they are that young.
The old days? :) SB and Y are the new days!
I'd to see a return to the mid-days when they were more of a "band" - The Dingus and Ronald eras.
oh wow.. look what he did to the gibson sg 1275
@dnon75 I'm watching videos to get pumped for the same show haha
@mitchell420SF Interestingly Jane's Addiction and The Flaming Lips are my two favourite bands of all time.
sounds like Sid Barret era Pink Floyd. See Emily Play. or something like that.
Syd "Roger Keith" Barrett
Steven told me about a story one time with him tripping on acid and listen to "Opel" over and over. I thought it was so funny cuz I had done the same thing. Oh the things we do sometimes... ;)
You can't see it here, but I think he has a kaos pad or a kaosolator where the 2nd pickups would be.
@mitchell420SF i agree 100%. i am proudly a member of the good taste club :P lol
@mcbeastable Have you heard some of their recent stuff that is more crazy Avant Garde, that is the only stuff of theirs that does it for me a lot, but I am a huge fan of Flaming Lips, and unlike Sonic Youth EVERYTHING by them is insane!
I love how yellow this is
Brussels too?
is this in portland oregon at the edgefield?
Are you on the spaceship they are trying to give lift-off to ?
Hey - how did that bass player keep changing his shirt? was it the hex?
@motorawaylive
You must.
I wonder if this one is from voodoo fest 2009...
@ScottieTheRadiohead Wow... really? I mean Radiohead and The Flaming Lips are litterally tied for first for me right now.
6 people have the hex.
@mitchell420SF The Flaming Lips are great, but for me the Sonic Youth had kind of a bigger edge for me. Their Avant Garde is crazy, but both amazing!
@SeanSeanSeanCanada I heard he that he never played the first neck and that it became broken so they just removed it alltogether
can you hear CAN?
@Tehtify
There is no real offensive thing about the FL's music, at all. You could possibly bring your 6 year old's to this. If you listen to some more of their music, I'd find it hard to believe that you could be worried about her.
no its fans from the crowd!
like electric wizard.
Jane's Addiction isn't broken up?
@YoungJaedong did this person say that? no they did not. the flaming lips are a thousand times better than janes addiction, and hey i enjoy janes addiction but give me a break. mitchell420 is right.
@DavidKinner No way i think Sonic Youth have never been that edgy. wayne coyne is damn edgy., most of his music is full blown intensity. and the fact they are mostly recovering drug addicts and anorexics. in fact, most of Sonic Youth's music is pretty childish. they have not matured, they still play the same childish punk rock. Whereas the Flaming Lips experiment. they play free form jazz jams as the basis of their records. thats awesome, they are genius without a doubt.
I agree, but in all fairness, breaking up does not mean a band is bad. For example: The Beatles.
it's weird when musicians wear soviet symbols while playing music that would have been banned in the USSR.
great song, of course.
@mcbeastable
Evol is crazy edgy. So is Sister. Those records are also mature. The same standards befall many other Youth albums.
The Flaming Lips are my favorite band but throwing the Sonic Youth under the bus for them is unnecessary and stupid.
do you think they pay the people in animals costumes?
A double-necked guitar with only one neck...
Interesting...
@mitchell420SF Comparing Jane's Addiction to Taylor Swift is going way too far. Jane's Addiction is good.
@hovelfrog Yes I agree, Unfortunately pop culture makes it "Cool" to wear shirts like this. To me , I remember how many millions of people Communist regimes killed, or starved to death to implementt their agendas. But to the Pop masses, it's just another T shirt. Kinda sad really,
This the song on the album I love, I like powerless but the rest of the album is so weak and to me just is just noise. I wish they went back to the old days like the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. Those songs were amazing
stop this pls...it is pointles to present these ..."statements"...
He listens to Joe Satriani, probably the most boring, annoying and unorginal guitar player of all time. His argument must be invalid.
