We were 3 or 4 rows from the front at this performance. Electrifying, spellbinding - and then followed by Heilung. An unforgettable night.

The intro actually taught you the kingdoms & throughout out episodes it showed the original place names in Saxon. Funny, when Wessex attacked Mercia it always felt southwards to me & how they conveyed it, but Mercia was above Wessex ie northwards. Great series & they got the period detail good, tho by Season 5 it felt a bit Darth Vader! Destiny S'all..
The intro sadly was the best part about the whole production.. Horrible waste of great source material.

Imagine this ringing out from the hills, calling everyone together or lamenting. So many emotions rolled into this. Just hauntingly stunning and Eivor we would follow you into battle haha. What an amazing piece, I’m sure it helped capture and keep people’s attention for The Last Kingdom, I remember googling it.

Just imagine this music echoing & bouncing off of the sheer stone cliffs of a Norwegian fjord with the mist swirling all about.
I listened to UA-cam of a women singing & playing on a prominence with her voice & drumming echoing all around. Something truly other worldly.
Turns out that was Eivør 7 yrs ago and now she is doing gigs at The Apollo and known around the World to all The Last Kingdom fans.

My favorite part is when the eyes go crazy intense for the non-spoken vocals. I watched the show for it's entirety and never really appreciated this song until seeing it live like this. It's pure magic.
She was indeed a warrior queen in a past life, who fought front line besides her brethren. She was revered and adored, she was honored by her warriors and all her people.

Eivør's beautiful voice makes my skin crawl with goosebumps. She pretty much brings tears to my eyes with her extraordinary vocal ranges and styles.
I love the deep, growling and grinding sound of her band-mate's bow, making gut-felt friction on the strings of his upright bass in the background of this tune. Makes me ponder and enjoy my Saxon-Dane heritage. I'm going to play it again on my stereo speakers whilst enjoying a pickled herring, liverwurst, pumpernickel sandwich, washed down with a cold Tuborg. Life is good. Skaal!

La primera vez que la escuché fue porque una compañera en un curso al que asistí en el Instituto Sueco Argentino compartió una de sus canciones en el chat grupal. I get goosebumps every single time I hear this, too. Not sure why, but I feel she is calling to my soul and waking up a part of me I didn't know I had. I was born and live in the USA. Most of my ancestry is English, Scot, Irish, and German. Something from my ancestry is tied to this music, I just don't know how. I just feel it in my body.

That's one powerful, primal and beautiful piece of music. Love the growlyness of both the double bass and the voice. I think that's why it feels so primal.
