    Thanks for not adding music or narration to your video! Amazing how relaxing it is not to have annoying distractions. Only mother nature and the sounds of the tools and machine itself. So refreshing! I just picked up an '06 500R, which fortunately is in perfect condition, thanks to the meticulous care by the PO. But I'm still watching repair and maintenance videos to educate myself on future needs of this amazing machine. Safe travels and thanks again!

    Something I have noticed after changing my spark plugs twice now, is that i needed a special thin wall socket to get the spark plugs out. I tried just about every 18mm i had and none of them worked. It came down to an 11/18 i believe, and it had to be a "thin wall" socket. I dont know how an 18mm worked on your bike, even though its suuuuuper close, because i have the exact same bike and it did not work haha.

      That's weird, I have no idea what the difference could be. I have ran into that in the past with other bikes however. An ATV I used to have could only be changed with the tool that came in the factory tool kit, (back when they came with a tool kit) haha.

    Hey Tom, I’ve seen all your videos and I like them.
    Can I ask for some advice? I’ve cleaned the carbs on my ninja, tuned them, changed the spark plug with a DR8 (you are using the DR9). The bike is fine on low and mid RPMs, but on the high rpms it doesn’t deliver much power and gets kinda slowly to 11k rpm. Is the problem within the spark plug or something else? Thanks for your attention, keep up the good stuff

      You really don’t make anymore power over 10k rpm, even though it’s fun to rev it that high. Did the bike run differently before you did the work? At the end of the day remember it’s a 500 twin and not a 4 cylinder. I obviously don’t know what kind of power you’re use to but could that be it? I doubt the spark plugs are to blame.

      @@wolfscrape The bike ran well, until one day I put bad gas in it and rode very bad. To this day I’ve replaced and cleaned spark plugs (they were black), new air filter, cleaned the carbs and screwed pilot to original settings (2.0 turns out) (found it at 3.0 turns out) . Now bike goes very well but won’t go past 130km/h (70mph) on freeway. Before it went up to 180kmh (110mph). Bike goes right at lows and mids, feels like it lost power after 6k rpms. What would you think it might be?

      @@castorr1608 I would say check the fuel system very carefully. I've had to clean carbs more than once before because I missed something upstream. Are you running a fuel filter?

    Question: Where does the hose coming out the back of the tank (towards the seat), lead to? Mine came out of the tank, but the other end wasn't connected to anything...

    • @wolfscrape
      @wolfscrape  2 роки тому +2

      It's just a vent hose and doesn't connect to anything

    You probably won’t see this comment but why did you use that 60 mm thing what’s it do

    • @wolfscrape
      @wolfscrape  2 роки тому

      That was to set the correct gap on the spark plugs. Not sure why youtube didn't show me this comment earlier? Sorry for the late reply.

    I'm doing the spark plus now... I can't get those 2 tubes off blocking the way to the plugs.

      I’m sure you figured it out by now but when putting them back on a small amount of Vaseline or die electric grease can keep them from sticking. Usually a little twist will get them off.
